Rep. Ted Deutch gets a Democratic primary challenge

by George Bennett | May 1st, 2014

U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, drew a Democratic primary challenge today when Emmanuel Morel of Wellington qualified for the ballot in Palm Beach-Broward congressional District 21.

“I’m not running against Ted Deutch. I’m running for something. I’m running for workers,” said Morel, 54, who said he recently retired as an investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour division. According to the county elections office, Morel switched his registration from no party to Democrat in January. UPDATE: The elections office said Friday Morel has been a Democrat since registering in the county in 1994 and records showing a January party switch appear to be based on incorrect information from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Morel wants to end H1B and H2B visas that he says allow foreign workers to displace Americans. At the same time, he’s calling for “immediate, complete and total amnesty for all undocumented individuals in the country.”

The positions aren’t contradictory, Morel said, because American workers “are not being displaced by people that are here already. They are being displaced by new people coming here.”

  1. Emmanuel G Morel Says:

I have been a registered Democrat since I became a Citizen in 1982. That is the only point they got wrong in the article.

  2. Mohammed al-Swain Says:

Mr. Morel should be elected to replace mr. Deutch. Mr. Morel has good ideas. Mr. Deutch is too much like the woman from Weston, Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz, who talks pretty good but does nothing.

Mr Morel’s idea for unilateral amnesty is excellent. It is the right call. These immigrants are hard working men and women who deserve to be citizens. They are being exploited and abused. The vast majority of them will become better citizens than the ones who are home grown.

Mr. Morel, you have my vote of confidence.

  3. Emmanuel G Morel Says:

I thank you, Mr. Mohammed al-Swain, for your support. Let me know whether you and yours wish to volunteer for the campaign. This is a grassroots campaign. We can ill afford to continue with business as usual. This land is your land and mine. We must fight for it and make these United States and more perfect union. Tonight at 9, we are holding a fundraiser, of any amount that one can afford at the Versailles Development. Let me know if you can attend.

This guy seems to be a Haitian!! Nobody will vote for a Haitian because of their loud and lousy attitude.

  5. Emmanuel G Morel Says:

Jebamoni4, I invite you to break bread with me and the family at my house whenever you are available. Then, you can pass judgment on me. I happen to be a proud Haitian-American and I love my life.

  6. jebamoni4 Says:

Thank you. Usually Haitians are not proud of their heritage. Instead of breaking bread with me, go to the places where Haitians work and live!! You will change your mind. our agenda is clear that you will encourage more Haitians to invade S> Florida and occupy.. The whole Floridians both Black and other colors cannot stand your people. As a liberal, nobody is in favor of you, being a Haitian.
Even Md.El swain will change his mind,
because of your heritage. S. Florida has become a ghetto because of the invasion.
