Nearly 1 Million Floridians Sign Up for Obamacare

by Laura Green | May 1st, 2014

Nearly 1 million Floridians signed up for an Obamacare plan in the inaugural year.
Only California enrolled more people — and not by much. The state ran its own marketplace. It signed up 1.4 million Californians.
Florida doubled its enrollment in the last month, making it one of a dozen states to do so.
Nationwide, more than 8 million people enrolled, according to data released by the Department of Health and Human Services today.
The numbers are still preliminary, in a sense, because they count everyone who signed up. Americans who do not pay their premium will not have coverage.

    says who

  2. Poncho Says:

I am not sure about Florida, but in California only 57% had paid their premium by April 15th. So if the rest of country follows Cali, then you provided insurance for 4.5 million people. Now lets not forget that 7 million people lost their insurance because of 0bam’s LIE, so all in all you can say 0bamacare is a failure of epic proportions…

  3. Tellthewholestory Says:

How many people lost their coverage in FL due to Obamacare? The net number is what’s important. But you liberals in the media only want to tell one side of every story.

  4. super Says:

    Poncho,
According to a republican survey 87% of people who signed up on the website have paid their premiums, and don’t forget that another 5 million people have gotten covered through Medicaid and all of them didn’t have insurance before. In addition it wasn’t 7 million who got dropped it was 4.9 million. Even with all of that Gallup which is a conservative polling organization itself showed that the number of uninsured has dropped.

  5. super Says:

The net number truth is a positive. but I guess conservatives like Gallup are lying also. First you said no one would sign up, when they did you then asked how many would be young people, which 35% more than the 33% needed signed up, now the argument is how many paid, which right now shows about 87% have already paid and that’s not even taking into account the people who signed up late.

  6. Bad News for Republicans Says:

That’s 1 million votes Rick Scott won’t be getting!!!

  7. herbie Says:

so that is the law ..otherwise they get fined…10 million paid federal income taxes..does that mean they love IRS??

  8. Very Tired Says:

The true question is not how many people signed up or even paid their premium, but rather what was the total charge for the insurance. This is after the government PAID the people for their insurance. My bet it is going to be 100′s of billions of dollars. Guess who gets to pay that? Taxpayers.

  9. So...... Says:

So conservatives are hoping obamacare fails so less sick people have insurance? So more poor and sick people lose their life savings, home, etc and up in emergency rooms. They are hoping that all those sick and poor people end up in Medicaid anyway? So much for caring for your fellow man and good old fashioned family values.

  10. Independent Says:

Surely, there was an easier way to provide these people with healthcare rather than:

having EVERYONE give up their health insurance

forcing businesses to stop providing health insurance coverage,

people not be able to keep their doctors (WHAT A PRESIDENTIAL LIE!),

increase in costs for services not needed

high government officials being exempt from Obamacare (Hello~that in itself should have been a wake up call)

If it’s not good for the President and his family, the President’s cabinet then it’s not good for your family.

Rationed care, my friends, rationed care determined, not by your own doctor, but government officials way off in Washington. Who have no personal medical contact with you.

Look at socialized medicine in Israel (doctor strikes, not only for better pay, but for better medical services for the doctors’ patients!)

Look at socialized medicine in England (nurses strike, rationed care)

It’s all headed the USA’s way.

Government doesn’t know what is best for you. Only you, your family and your physician know what is best.

Every facet of your life, directed by the government.

  11. Cyd medina Says:

Great benefit! I wonder what will be new with the IRS at the end if the year?

  12. Double Talk Says:

“We dispute their numbers. We don’t have hard, concrete numbers, but we dispute them,” Jay Carney said.

Presidential Press Secretary Jay Carney disputed the number of Obamacare participants who HADN’T paid premiums, but was unable to supply the number who had paid!

Time to worry about the educational system when the Press and the populace can ferret out inconsistencies and obfuscations coming from the White House.

Keep the youth stupid, uninformed, clueless, so they won’t figure out that they will be bearing the burden of ObamaCare costs

The youth will also bear the burden of intrusiveness into their personal lives through government snooping. And that’s not just healthcare, it’s into every facet of their lives.

How can the White House dispute the number who hadn’t paid, when they can’t confirm how many have paid their Obamacare premiums.

    What double talk!

  13. OBIWAN Says:

    @ Double Talk

MORE DIRTY REPUBLICAN TRICKS…The steep lower than low…

Nixon calls Warren Commission,”the greatest hoax that has ever been perpetuated.”

A commission chaired by Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren concluded in 1964 said that Lee Harvey Oswald, a former U.S. Marine who once defected to the Soviet Union, acted alone in killing Kennedy in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.

    BUTT WAIT:

Jack Ruby (Oswald’s assassin) makes a statement to reporters after he has been permitted a new trial.

    He says :

“Everything pertaining to what’s happening has never come to the surface. The world will never know the true facts, of what occurred, my motives. The people had , that had so much to gain and had such an ulterior motive for putting me in the position I’m in, will never let the true facts come above board to the world.”

Reporter : Are these people in very high positions Jack ??

    Jack : Yes.

Why has nobody seen this footage at the time it was shot? Because certain people with enough power didn’t want you to see it. Just like they didn’t want you to see the Zapruder film. Imagine what would have happened if the american public was shown just both of these films. Other quotes of Jack Ruby that are on film:

“Gentlemen, I want to tell the truth, but I cannot tell it here.

If you want a fair shake out of me, you have to take me to the Washington”

Ruby dead without ever diclosin the truth about Dallas…

Nixon said without making clear why he considered the Warren Commission findings a sham. “It was the greatest hoax that has ever been perpetuated by any Commission”

Ya know History does not lie, something maybe U should try sometime?

  14. Rick Says:

I wonder how many families would have qualified for the Medicaid expansion, had our Govenor not turned it down. I am still trying to figure who the Governor helped out by that decision. It sure was not the families that would have quilified for it.

  15. RingSting Rick Says:

    Hey guys,

Just a heads up on my condition:
As I type this, I’m on the toilet, surrounded by my dearest family and friends and a priest. I’m not exactly sure whether this is an exorcism or if I’m getting my last rites read to me. This very well could be my final crowning moment. I may never make it back to my feet. What a way to go. Will I go out by suffocating in a toxic byproduct stench? Will I croak from my body expelling all essential nutrients for life? Is this the apacolypse?
What is occurring in my body right now may only be explained with the final 20 minutes of the movie Independence Day. The sweet gummy bears that I thought I had chewed and swallowed have now resurrected inside my bowels with a vengeance. The only thing that I can imagine they are doing is s***ting inside my digestive tract. Decomposed zombie gummy bear s***. This can’t be all my s***. There’s no way. That’s not my s***. That’s s*** from a supernatural entity living inside me. Literally nothing I’ve eaten in a dozen years could possibly turn my ass into a to-scale model of Mt. St. Helens, violently spewing what smells like a public bus filled with homeless people with fresh perms, in Mexico City at such a cyclic rate, that I’m worried the war veteran below me thinks he’s storming Normandy again.
Shame on everyone who handled these bears before they made it to me. Shame on Amazon for making theses available for purchase. Shame on the guy in the warehouse who packaged this for shipment. Shame on the UPS guy for bringing this to my door. You all knew. I know you knew, and you knew I’d know. And you still let me do this to myself. Shame on you!
My last hope now is that the force of gas propelling from my anus may be strong enough to disturb Satan himself in hell. And that he is so angered by this that he sends an entire fleet of brave minions to come up through the toilet and put me out of my misery.
