Getting mighty crowded: Former Pahokee Mayor Sasser considers bid for county commission seatby George Bennett | September 30th, 2013
Add former Pahokee Mayor J.P. Sasser to the list of Democrats who have announced or are pondering 2014 campaigns for the Palm Beach County commission western District 6 seat of term-limited Jess Santamaria.
“I’ve been snooping around and asking and I’m not getting any negative feedback,” said Sasser, who was mayor from 2002 to 2008 and again from 2010 until this year. He says he’ll make a decision soon, but didn’t set a definitive timeline.
It’s already “Getting Mighty Crowded” for Dem candidates in District 6.
Former Wellington Mayor Kathy Foster and Royal Palm Beach Commissioner and Santamaria aide Fred Pinto have opened campaigns. Former Royal Palm Beach Coucilwoman Martha Webster says she will open a campaign soon. Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation aide Melissa McKinlay told the Politics column that she’s considering a run as well.
