Deutch tells Clinton he hopes she returns to public service, extends welcome to Florida

by George Bennett | January 23rd, 2013

U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, told Hillary Clinton this afternoon that he hopes her final hearing as Secretary of State doesn’t mark the end of her career in public service.

Clinton appeared before the House Foreign Affairs Committee this afternoon after testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the morning about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three others.

Clinton faced criticism from Republicans and friendly questioning from Democrats on both panels.

“I’d like to thank you for the truly remarkable job that you’ve done as Secretary of State,” Deutch told Clinton at the beginning of his questioning. “You have represented the interests of this nation magnificently and I for one hope that after a bit of rest you will consider a return to public service and should that return bring you to Florida I will look forward to welcoming you there.”

Deutch was a major supporter of Clinton during the 2008 Democratic presidential primaries.

You make sure Ted to bring your dark haired aide Tara back! She was awesome running the campaign in 2008.

  2. Mike D Says:

It is me or is this not right of Deutch. He is worse than DWS with the partisan crap!

  3. Political Fluff Says:

Teddy threw cream-puff questions to Secretary Clinton at the Benghazi hearing. The death of four Americans means less to some politicians than the unity of the Democratic party. Little Debbie Debutante-Shultz and the DNC will buy Teddy a cupcake for his good deed.

  4. Depends on IS Says:

Do these local politicians send these tidbits to the Post Times to make sure their names and other democrats names are in the news at least daily or every other day?

  5. DD Says:

Instead of what Deutch has to say, how about focusing on Clinton and what she had to say.

What kind of uninformed idiots write these comments. First off who is this Tara that ran Hillary’s campaign in 2008? I was very active on the campaign and don’t ever remember hearing this name. Secondly, does no one understand the importance of what Ted did? He is bringing more national attention to a CONSTITUENT of his who was kidnapped 6 years ago in Iran. That’s pretty darn important to me.

    Zachary –

Work on your reading comprehension. Diana was speaking of Deutch’s campaign in 2008. She helped Ted’s efforts for Clinton as well and held fundraisers for her in Boca. I was at a few.
