Allen West campaign calls race ‘far from decided,’ questions St. Lucie County tally

STUART – Republican U.S. Rep. and tea party icon Allen West is not conceding his bitter and expensive congressional race to Democrat Patrick Murphy, who as of this morning holds a lead of 2,456 votes or 0.78 percent.
West campaign manager Tim Edson released a statement this morning calling the race “far from decided,” questioning results from St. Lucie County and hinting at legal action.
St. Lucie County elections officials were not available for comment this morning.

Statement from Rep. Allen West’s campaign manager Tim Edson:
This race is far from decided and there is no rush to declare an outcome. Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance. There are still tens of thousands of absentee ballots to be counted in Palm Beach County and potential provisional ballots across the district.
Late last night Congressman West maintained a district-wide lead of nearly 2000 votes until the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections “recounted” thousands of early ballots. Following that “recount” Congressman West trailed by 2,400 votes. In addition, there were numerous other disturbing irregularities reported at polls across St. Lucie County including the doors to polling places being locked when the polls closed, in direct violation of Florida law, thereby preventing the public from witnessing the procedures used to tabulate results. The St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections office clearly ignored proper rules and procedures, and the scene at the Supervisor’s office last night could only be described as complete chaos. Given the hostility and demonstrated incompetence of the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections, we believe it is critical that a full hand recount of the ballots take place in St. Lucie County. We will continue to fight to ensure every vote is counted properly and fairly, and accordingly will pursue all legal means necessary.”

This statement says it all. What do you expect form a member of the Tea Party which actually did more harm than good to the Republican Party. Funny I didn’t see a “T” beside his name on the ballot. Of course he continues to be bitter; a load of cash was put behind him and he LOST. Now he has no true party to back him, no Super Pac, and really nothing to do but hang on to hope. As far as I can see, the margin is above one half of one percent. That equals LOOSING in Florida. Now more $$$ will be spent hiring lawyers to contest the election and perhaps buy a judge like one of his predecessors.

Well, speaking as someone in FL-22 let me tell you. The people of FL-18 really dodged a bullet. The only thing Allen West knows and cares about is HIMSELF. In FL-22 the last two years, anyone and everyone took the blame for his own failures to live up to his oath of office, including and especially the PEOPLE of FL-22. This is not representation. It is oppression.
Congratulations FL-18, you just saved yourselves a whole lot of heartache and stress and elected someone who will actually PRODUCE PROGRESS for the people of the district. Frankly, it is sad that the choice had to come to that, but at least people made the right call.
Between Murphy and Lois Frankel, I am really looking forward to having representation in the House that is committed to working for progress on behalf of the needs and wants of the people. So proud of Florida today!

Why not count ALL of the votes? To not do so would be the crime. Wouldn’t Murphy want to know for certain that he won with all of the votes having been counted? To assume anything less of Murphy, or any candidate, would mean they’re not worthy of our votes.

The fact that this race is as close as it is, tells the story. West moved to a more conservative district to insure his reelection. Driving around Martin County all you saw was Republican billboards and signs, it was impressive to see the support for him and his party as compared to the Democrats. With the ballot count turning out how it is just says that his own moderate Republicans don’t want him. The Republicans have an approximate 60-30% registered voter advantage in Martin County, a highly conservative Northern PB County and a conservative St. Lucie for the most part. What don’t you understand Mr. West? You have a huge registered voter advantage, name recognition, super PAC support, a inexperienced young opponent and this is where you sit today? Go away and try another district. Move to Georgia, Kentucky or Tennessee and run, you’ll have a job for the rest of your life. Those folks fit right into your style of politics.

Allen West is a great American patriot. It is apparent that many of the negative comments above came from uninformed, bitter liberals that never experienced a war, and support Obama when he bowed to King Fysal of Saudi Arabia. Allen West saved the lives of the men in his unit and fought for the USA.
Although I did not like the negative ads from either side, that I think were just waste of money, I think that Allen must insist on the recount. He is a true American who may not always be politically correct, but who says it like it is and that is usually what we are all thinking. The good thing about losing this race is that will able to try to find a job in the job creating tax paying makers private sector and get off the government payroll where you have spend your entire life and where you were permitted to retire with a pension of over 50,000 dollars per year of taxpayers funds at the age of 42, when faced with charges that could have resulted in serious jail time.
It may be tough given you age and total lack of any skills the private sector can use but do the best you can.

West and edson are saying “far from over” calling the Supervisor of Elections hostile and incompetent but he said this calmly because he is so concerned about fair and accurate returns. I would bet he is losing his mind along with his multi million dollar out of state donors. West thinks the people of district 18 (which he was never the congressman here because the lines were drawn not long ago) are stupid and if he says something repeatedly it will become fact. There are no grounds or proof of any wrong doing. There is what is called a margin of error which west knows perfectly well.

He has been discredited by every “legitimate” news organization. I say to Ms. Walker, don’t let allen west push you around and tell you what happened at your polling places. Was he there? I think not . He was in his room beating himself stupid because he lost the election and now we all have to suffer and be made fools of by the national media once again.
I don’t think the officials and people of district 18 should be bullied by west or made to do his bidding. He has lost and that should be the final word! Take your circus and your clowns back to Plantation Fl. where you came from. District 18 is sick of you!
