Bogdanoff, Sachs set to meet with voters Saturday

by Ana Valdes | October 12th, 2012

Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff (R-Fort Lauderdale) and Sen. Maria Sachs (D-Boca Raton), who are both vying for a senate seat in District 34 on Election Day, will be in Palm Beach County on Saturday to rally voters in the newly-drawn Palm Beach-Broward district.

Bogdanoff will be bicycling through coastal communities starting at 7:30 a.m. at El Prado Park in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Bogdanoff will finish at Boston’s on the Beach in Delray Beach. Throughout the tour, which Bogdanoff is calling Ellyn’s Bicycle Classic, the senator is expected to make stops in Boca Raton and Highland Beach.

Meanwhile, Sachs will be canvassing in Boca Raton Saturday morning. The senator is meeting firefighters at Panera on Military Trail in Boca Raton, according to campaign officials.

The District 34 race between Sachs and Bogdanoff is the only Senate district in Florida where two incumbents are running against each other. It’s also a race both Republicans and Democrats consider key for the future of their parties.

Sachs and Bogdanoff are both facing a largely new set of voters.

Forty-nine percent of constituents in the new district are from Bogdanoff’s old district, and 39 percent are from Sachs’ former district. But the new district is also mostly Democratic, where 58 percent voted for Barack Obama in 2008, possibly putting Bogdanoff at a disadvantage.

  4. We're DOOMED in PBC with DEMOCrats Says:

Never vote for a democrat, just look at the corruption in democrat dominated Palm Beach County!

Citizens were WILLING to spend additional taxmoney on an ETHICS committee to stop the corruption.

and now we have DIGITAL DOMAIN! Taxpayers are having to SPEND tax money on LAWYERS to try and GET the property given by democrats to this bankrupt company. Our democrats and their ‘lawyer’ CLAIMED they did due diligence BEFORE doing the deal, but it is PLAIN TO SEE, we have INFERIOR and INCOMPENTENT people in public office and they are DEMOCRATS!

  5. Rick Scott RUBBER STAMP Says:

Hi, my name is Ellyn Bogdanoff and I am a RICK SCOTT RUBBER STAMP!

If you love Rick Scott, you should elect me so I can expedite his fascist agenda.

  6. Nelson-lost space jobs and nuclear carrier Says:

40 years in political office and Bill Nelson has done nothing for the state of FL.

Our space industry has been decimated-26,000 space jobs LOST-thanks Nelson!Where were you?

nuclear aircraft carrier stays IN Virgina, doesn’t go to Jacksonville-thanks Bill Nelson! Where were you?

FLORIDA LOSING OUT with Bill Nelson.

Bill Nelson has done nothing for FLorida. He can’t get anything done for FL!

40 years in political office, nothing to show and he wants 6 more years???

    Nelson is NOT worth it.

  7. Sheldon Adelson's $$$$$$$$ Says:

LOL @ the Bill Nelson attack.

Bill Nelson voted for Obamacare which extended the life of Medicare by 8 years, closed the prescription drug doughnut hole, ended discrimination against pre-existing conditions, allowed children up to 26 to stay on their parents plans, and set up health insurance exchanges which encourage competition to drive down the cost of insurance. And that was just one vote.

There was also the Stimulus which created thousands of Florida job and CUT TAXES FOR 95% OF FLORIDA FAMILIES!

There was also the Lilly Ledbetter Act which allows women to prove that they were discriminated against in the workplace. I don’t know how anyone can call that “nothing”. Not to mention the Violence Against Women Act which was DEFEATED by Marco Rubio and Allen West (both of whom voted AGAINST the Violence Against Women Act).

I guess health care and women’s health are “nothing” to the billionaire Sheldon Adelson since that is the theme of the talking points Sheldon Adelson has bought with his $100 MILLION PLUS funding of Republican candidates, from Mittwitt “47% are deadbeats but watch while I stash my money in offshore tax shelters” Rmoney to Allen “anyone who disagrees with me should leave the country” West to Cornelius MacGillicuddy IV aka Connie “no I don’t take my job seriously because I’m fabulously wealthy and from a rich and famous family” Mack.

The Sheldon Adelson purchased right wing talking points are as illogical and stupid as they are dishonest lies.

Aside from the letter “R” and the letter “D” behind their names, what is the difference? I mean seriously, what is the difference?

  9. Dennis Makeover Says:

Can you see Maria Sachs on a bicycle with her high heels on. She’ll be in her Chanel outfit in the Limo. She’s such a fraud. Take notice any time an honest comment is posted her inside team reponds with an anti-republican slur. Get off your high horses. We need a change not a dishonest senator.
