Polling roundup: Obama edging Romney in 4 of 5 Florida polls over past week

by George Bennett | September 24th, 2012

The presidential race in Florida remains tight, with President Obama edging Mitt Romney in four of five Florida polls tracked by Real Clear Politics and released since Romney’s “47 percent” remarks in Boca Raton achieved virality.

A survey released Sunday night by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling gives Obama a 50-to-46 percent lead in the Sunshine State. That’s roughly even considering the poll’s 3.3 percent margin of error. PPP found Romney’s favorable/unfavorable percentages dropping from 49/47 at the beginning of the month to 44/51 now — a nine-point plunge.

A Mason-Dixon poll for The Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times found a virtual tie, with Obama’s 48-to-47 percent lead in Florida within the poll’s 3.5 percent margin of error.

An automated We Ask America poll conducted the day after Romney’s remarks were publicized showed Obama with a 49.1-45.5 lead in Florida. It’s one of the few polls that includes Libertarian Gary Johnson and shows him drawing 1.3 percent. The poll’s margin of error is 2.8 percent.

Mother Jones magazine publicized Romney’s remarks from a May fundraiser on Sept. 17. A Fox News poll conducted Sept. 16-18 shows Obama leading 49 percent to 44 percent with a 3 percent margin of error.

A Sept. 15-19 Purple Strategies poll is the only recent survey to show Romney leading in Florida. The GOP nominee has a 48-to-47 percent lead in that poll, which has a 4 percent margin of error.

There is a reason for that.

We are getting calls from these polling organizations and they are asking leading questions about the candidates – clearly designed to get people to vote for the president, and at first we would wade though the questions and force them to accept our answer that we were not going to vote for the Traitor. Now, we just hang up. That’s why your polls are skewed – we got tired of trying to fight with you to accept that we are not voting for the SOB in there now.

  2. Unexcusable Says:

The article is quick to give percentages but fails to state how many republicans were polled, how many democrats were polled, how many independents were polled

and whether these were registered voters or those voters who were likely to vote.

Many are registered, but they don’t vote on a regular basis.

Those are important points to be considered.

And were more women polled or men, did they live in urban city areas or suburban, outlying areas?

What age span of those polled?

Those are all important facts NOT included in these numbers.

We’ve got a long way to go.

It ain’t over, until it’s over.

How about the murder and sodomizing of our American ambassador in Libya and the failure to offer additional protection during the 9/11 anniversary in an unstable country in an unstable region of the world?

How about that Libyan security instead of American security for our Ambassador Stevens?

How about the handwritten words of Ambassador Stevens in his own journal-left behind in the Libyan embassy and found by CNN-in which he writes of his worry about recent attacks and being on an al qaeda hit list?

Failure in foreign policy = Obama
    Failure to protect = Obama

Let’s stop worrying about how America is ‘perceived’ in the Middle East and stop worrying about the ‘feelings’ of those who are hostile to Americans.

We must protect those willing to serve our country.

Now, do you think Israel would allow others to protect their personnel in foreign countries or do you think Israel would protect their own?!?!

We know the answer to that..Israel protects their own and it’s about time America does the same!

Stop depending on Libyans to protect our ambassador…step it up and protect our own.

Don’t ask my children to serve when the rules of engagement by the Obama administration puts them in danger.

Joint patrols in afghanistan have been halted because the afghanis turned their american given weaponary on our own soldiers. they destroyed 6 harrier jets, a hangar, killed a US colonel and too many Americans.

Stop the ‘let’s be friends’ foreign policy and protect our own.

Just disgusted by the lack of protection during the 9/11 anniversary in an unstable country in an unstable region.

    That is unexcusable!

  3. George Says:

The important thing to note about Obama’s Florida lead is that it’s pegged at a 99% certainty, meaning the lead has only a one percent chance of switching to Romney.

The takeaway is that The Mitt has already lost Florida! If Mitt’s your man you might as well stay home. You won’t like standing in line for hours with those 47% ers, anyway!

  5. Tom Says:

The 47% moochers must be keeping the President in the lead.

  6. Huh?! Says:

It’s funny to watch the conservatives foaming at the mouth because of a small lead. And you know what? They ought to be mad, but at Romney and not the pollsters. Even though things are going better things are still tight, very tight. Romney should be light years ahead of Obama, but he’s barely staying even and he’s even falling behind in a lot of states. Even if he manages to eek this out it certainly wouldn’t be a mandate.

  7. Mike Says:

When they call my house and they do call my house, STOP CALLING MY HOUSE I always say Obam Obama Obama but I’m not voting for Obama. I hate these polls

Succesful people are not bad people, Class warfare is not good, why would I vote for Obama, I’m in the 53% that pays for the federal government.

  8. Mitt Says Says:

If the polls showed the real margins, than the campaigns would stop spending millions on advertising. If fact there is no incentive to show anything but a near tie.

  9. Francisco Says:

This is all good news for Romney.
After digging into the polls a bit I found that democrats were over sampled and average of 7% in each of these polls. This days after the democratic party called Romney’s candidacy dead.

  10. so sad Says:

i find it amusing when on the occasions that romney leads in the polls, the conservatives are all over it, especially those two big loud mouths on AM radio….but when obama pulls ahead even by a hair, the conservatives come out of the woodwork yelling “foul” and “the polls mean nothing”….such babies….grow up.

  11. Liberal 47%er Says:

    OBAMA 2012

  12. sargeant york Says:

@Mike. I’m one of the 47% of the losers in this country. I pay no income tax or any other tax to the Federal Government. I get a check every month from the Government and I’m proud to cash it and spend it. Thanks for your help in paying me……By the way, I’m in the military, just got home from my second tour in the Middle East. My income isn’t taxed so I guess I’m one of the losers.

  13. Moishe Says:

Any Jew who votes for Obama is a Jew who would have walked into the ovens thinking they were getting a shower. Contrary to popular opinion many of us are as dumb as non-Jews.

  14. sapo Says:

the DEMS are nervous he is always ahead in the polls we will see in Nov remember past election the one that was always projected to be ahead lost republicans are voting this time. Obama has nothing to offer this country

  15. THE PLAINTRUTH Says:

    Unexcusable

The only sodomizing thattook place was in your sexual fantasies scum!!!
Your post is another shinning example of the true depth of the depravity you and your party have lowered yourselves too. There was security there. They were overwhelmed by the numbers. there was no reason to bring in additional security as there was no evidence of a threat.
You want to try to criticize the Presidents foreign policy and you conveniently forget to mention that the CITIZENS OF LIBYA ATTACKED AND BURNED THE COMPOUND OF THE GROUP RESPONSIBLE!!!
The Libyan people have come to our defense and are demanding an end to all extremist groups in their country because of thiis incident involving our consul!!!!!
I can’t eever remember another President who’s foreign policy was so effective that the citizens of another country came to our defense against their own people who would do us harm!!!!

PS I don’t think you have to worry about your children serving. Given the DNA implications they probably couldn’t pass the entrance exams!

  16. Dave Turk Says:

Plaintruth..You better get some mental health help quick ..when Obama loses you are heading toward a straight jacket and electrical shock treatment..

  17. caballon Says:

    Damn liberals make me sick.

  18. Amsah Says:

We must remember President is leader of country. When we have election in own country, we respect leader no matter. The comments here shame yourself and country. You should respect leader.
