Is Crist’s Democratic convention speech the opening of his 2014 governor’s campaign?
by George Bennett | September 4th, 2012CHARLOTTE, N.C. — National Democrats obviously are delighted to have former Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist as a speaker at this week’s convention. They’ve heightened the air of suspense surrounding Crist’s address by not revealing exactly when it will occur.
Florida Democrats, meanwhile, are looking beyond this week and pondering the possibility of Crist seeking the 2014 Democratic nomination for his old job.

No, the opening of Crist’s gubernatorial campaign was when he began phoning big-name Democrats two months ago and told them he is running for Governor.

I would say it started when his face went up on the billboards “for the people.”

As a pro-choice democrat I certainly hope not. Alex needs to run again, she will be governor.

Expect MORE TRAFFIC DELAYS and MORE LOCAL taxpayer money to cover cost of the President’s visit…he’s back in Palm Beach County this weekend.
Every time he visits, it costs. Local taxpayers PICK UP THE BILL for additional protection. More tax money being spent for these visits.
We need that tax money to repair our roads, for our schools and plug the deficits in our county, city’s budget. Sick of paying thousands and thousands of taxpayer dollars during this economic downturn for a political visit.
New Hampshire tried to get out of paying for the cost when Obama came to visit, but they were still billed. A local resident agreed to pick up the tab for the NH town! How about some big democrat donor in PBC picking up this political expense instead of local taxpayers????? Come on big democrats guys – pay for the cost and give local taxpayers a break!

Do you really think long time FL Democrats, who want a chance of snagging the governorship of FL, are going to stand aside for the former Republican governor and then former Independent Senatorial candidate Charlie Crist!!?!?!??
They’re crazy if they do!
Crist is toast. He’s being used.

A Crist run for Governor as a Democrat is absolutely doomed. If he wants a shot a being Governor again or any statewide elected office, he must run as an independent. And he must make the case for that run as an independent based on a principle that both parties are two extreme for Florida and most Floridians. But he won’t do that, because he isn’t brave enough to let that sound judgment overcome his fear of not having some political party apparatus to highjack.
