Democrats slam Hasner TV ad, release their own videoby Andrew Abramson | September 18th, 2012
Less than two hours after The Palm Beach Post posted Republican Adam Hasner’s first congressional TV ad, the Florida Democratic Party struck back with their own video and criticism of Hasner’s claims.
In the ad, Hasner says, “we can’t afford typical politicians… who raise their pay without doing their jobs,” and said, “I’ll never accept a pay increase or congressional pension.”
The Democrats, who are backing Lois Frankel, pointed out that while Hasner was in the state house, he supported the 2003-04 budget which contained a 2.5 percent salary raise for himself. The Democrats, who listed various “fact checks” in today’s news release, said Hasner will benefit from the Florida State Pension system by receiving an amount less than $5,000 at age 65. The Democrats also said Hasner was reimbursed $40,000 for in-state airline travel from November 2004 to April 2010 despite his claims that he will turn down perks.
