Union-backed group targets Allen West

by George Bennett | April 2nd, 2012

West

That group that was advertising $10-$12 an hour canvassing jobs on Craigslist to target U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, is backed by the Service Employees International Union.

West Palm Beach-based Stand Up Florida is supported by a group called One Miami, which is headed by SEIU officials and gets its money from the union and other groups.

Read about it in this week’s Politics column — where you’ll also find out which two Democratic state House members are preparing for a Senate primary clash and why Palm Beach County Commissioner Jess Santamaria is in court this week.

Instead of money being kept in your paycheck your dues are going to political campaigns, cruises for topdogs in the unions, leased cars for the topdogs.

Keep the money local. Thugs-just dressed in work uniforms.

  2. Manufactured Mayhem Says:

Remember when the union bussed in protesters from Tampa to protest in City Place. They paid for their lunch and travel.

    Your union $$$$$ at ‘work’.

It’s a democrat ploy to disturb the peace of our country.

Just look at the agitation of the Martin case.

All for political cause. Is that what you want the streets of America to look like?

  3. Same Ole, Same Ole Says:

    WOW! What a big surprise!

Again, most of us live in an intellectual world of facts, logical reasons and studied resultant proofs or histories to discuss.

This method is alien . . . er . . . ignored by the left since it offers them no winning debate point arguments.

Their thinking (feelings to be more accurate) seems to dwell mostly in a hazy fragmented world of highly emotional and agitated negative epithets and name calling.

Like little kids with their hands over their ears shouting to adults, “I can’t hear you! I can’t hear you!”

  4. Focus Says:

    1. How much did you pay for gas this week…at least $4?

    2. Gas will hit $5 this summer. Then Obama will tap into US Strategic Oil Reserves to lower prices for presidential election.

    3. And if Obama wins….he doesn’t have to worry….and he’ll let gas prices escalate again.

    4. Are you prepared for gas to be $6-$7 a gallon like it is in Europe?

    5. Obama’s Secretary of Energy, Chu and Secretary of Transportation, LaHood both have STATED that it would be GOOD if gas prices were the same as they are in Europe.

    6. Obama election=$6-$7 per gallon gas

    7. OUT in NOvember!

  5. steve mitchell Says:

  6. FLDemNinja Says:

    @Focus
The reason Gas is so high right now is because of saber rattlers musket carriers foaming at the mouth about Iran like West.
Allen West’s presence in Congress only helps to raise the price of oil by adding another war monger to the cacophony from the right which provides instability and uncertainty to the world markets which are not controlled by the President but rather investors gauging the fear and psychology of the people. Supporting West is akin to supporting economic uncertainty and instability in oil markets and any other for that matter.
Can’t blame SEIU for campaigning against him when he continually bashes them and the the benefits they provide to hard working Americans, while advocating for lower taxes for the wealthiest in this country.

  7. Unions next Says:

And if Obama is re-elected you better believe, he’s coming after the unions.

He just needs you for his re-election. Obama’s Department of Justice will be breathing down the necks of every white union member.

Step aside for the brother and let him advance. Doesn’t matter if you had higher scores, you’re white and the black man needs advancement.

  8. Tweedle Says:

    Dear “Fldemoninja”

Amazing how high gas prices were all Bush’s fault and now when the prices climb their not Obama’s fault.

And what do you SAY about Obama’s own Secretary of Energy, Chu and Secretary of Transportation, LaHood WANT gas prices to go EVEN HIGHER. They want them to match the prices in Europe….$6-$7.

You can’t get alternative energy overnight. It takes decades and decades!

Meanwhile, Obama again wants to tap into the USA’s Strategic Oil RESERVE (for emergencies, not re-election bid)when the US could begin drilling, building refineries and EMPLOYING American citizens.

And what’s the deal with Obama giving Brazil $2 BILLION to drill?

OUT in 2012! Get rid of democrat senators, too!

The above is a link about West targeting Florida’s 20% people with disabilities and
and he can be sure at election time we will take care of business with another ADA violator and anti-people with with disabilties. We took care of McCullum, Sink and Crist and we are going to add West to that list.

  10. StateRunMedia Says:

Give me a break. Unelected officials took over Washington and the media after the coup and cover up. Even most of the comments online are financed with your tax dollars. Big brother is trying to create the perception of public opinion while burying the truth. They think you can’t handle the truth. Fact of the matter is we have no democracy, president, and freedom of press is an illusion.

Our next election is shaping up to be as big of a sham as the last. Do you know why Sarah Palin’s bus tour was really canceled? Do you know why she stayed 30 miles away from the second debate and chose the death of Steve Jobs to announce that she’s not running? Know what leaked out? Sarah Palin and Cain aren’t in the race for the same reason, the truth leaked out.

Search PalinsDirtyLittleSecret for the biggest cover up in world history before it disappears forever much like me.

  11. LionDoll Says:

GO WEST, WEST AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH !!!

  12. Jim S. Says:

Allen West is part of the epidemic Across the country, right-wing legislators continue their attack on labor unions, claiming that they are saving their states money. Yet in waging these anti-labor campaigns, these politicians are ignoring one very simple fact: unions were a major force in building and sustaining the great American middle class, and as they declined, so has the middle class. As CAP’s Karla Waters and David Madland showed in a report they first published in January 2011, as union membership has steadily declined since 1967, so too has the middle class’s share of national income, as the super-rich have taken a larger share of national income than any time since the 1920s:
A union is an organization established by and for workers to pursue collective workplace goals: wages, benefits, work rules, saftey, power.
Unions arose after the Civil War as one response to modern industrial economy. Unions grew rapidly from 1930s-50s, shrank from 1960s-present.
Workers have always disagreed amongst themselves over whether to have unions and what kinds of unions they should have but Labor unions have proven vital to the forward progress and improved standard of living for all American workers both union and non union members alike.
Changes to federal labor law have largely determined whether unions grew or shrank.Unions have been growing smaller and less powerful for 40 years led by the Republican assault on workers. But unions are still very important in certain areas: the auto industry, public education, print journalism, politics.
The American working class has been under constant attack from predominately Republican legislative initiatives, Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin backed by the Koch Bros is a prim example of how dangerous and destructive these policies are.
In order to stem the tide of the already massive distribution of wealth in America that has been so devastating to millions of hard working people, The American people must support one another in the fight for equality, workers rights, living wages and benefits that will ensure a shared prosperity for all Americans not just for the privileged few.
