Mack supporters demand LeMieux go away to ‘benefit the entire party’

by Dara Kam | April 20th, 2012

Political and financial heavy-weights backing U.S. Rep. Connie Mack are asking George LeMieux step out of the U.S. Senate race, a “difficult and selfless step toward unifying our party now.”

Mack supporters sent a letter to LeMieux saying that with Mack leading in the polls, it’s time for LeMieux to drop out.

“Your withdrawal from the election and endorsement of Connie would be of great benefit to the entire Party as we turn now to the fall elections and unify behind our shared goal of stopping President Obama and Senator Nelson from doing any more damage to our state and country. We thank you for your dedicated service to our Party, and hope that you will not only recognize how important it is for conservatives to win in November, but that you will take the difficult and selfless step toward unifying our Party now,” the group wrote.

The ask comes just days after Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater said some influential GOP’ers are trying to convince him to throw his hat into the race because they’re dissatisfied with both LeMieux and Mack and are worried that neither can oust incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

LeMieux spokeswoman Anna Nix responded with a swipe at Mack.

“With Mack the Fourth’s history of violence and financial misconduct, voters will no doubt realize he lacks the maturity to be a United States Senator. George LeMieux is the only candidate who can defeat Bill Nelson in November and end Harry Reid’s reign as Majority Leader,” Nix said in a statement.

Read the entire letter after the jump.

Dear George:
So much is at stake in this year’s elections. For Florida. For our country. For our way of life.
As Republicans we all agree that Barack Obama must be defeated. So too must we defeat his closest ally in the U.S. Senate, Bill Nelson.
Mitt Romney is now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, giving him the time he needs to raise the necessary money to run and win, and to take his message and campaign to the American people.
Here in Florida we will also be far better off if we can unite now behind the candidate who is best able to beat Bill Nelson.
Since getting into the race for the U.S. Senate last fall, Congressman Connie Mack has been consistently outperforming the field in fundraising, public polling, and in serious conservative grassroots and organizational support.
With such a wide lead and his deep strength in the Republican primary, we believe it is imperative to ensure Congressman Mack has ample time and support to mount the campaign necessary to defeat Bill Nelson in November.
Your withdrawal from the election and endorsement of Connie would be of great benefit to the entire Party as we turn now to the fall elections and unify behind our shared goal of stopping President Obama and Senator Nelson from doing any more damage to our state and country.
We thank you for your dedicated service to our Party, and hope that you will not only recognize how important it is for conservatives to win in November, but that you will take the difficult and selfless step toward unifying our Party now.

MACK IS A PROVEN ADULTERER – a convicted DUI Offender – numerous bar fights, traffic confrontations – got his arm broken by Ron Gant of the Atlanta Braves for popping off – Mack left his wife & 2 kids (real conservative family values huh) consorted with Sony Bono’s ex wife – has spent 90% of his time in California with her on breaks until he decided to run for Senate – now his daddy & his friends are trying to get their puppet elected – this is an OUTRAGE!

No thanks on Connie Mack. No thanks on a new candidate. I will vote for and support George Lemieux.

    Dear George,
Below is a leter I received from Senator Nelson. He would like me to endosre his tax plan but provides no details of a tax plan. Please defeat this xxxx.

    Friend,

In an average week I hear from thousands of folks who call, write and email. Lately, about half of the folks I’ve heard from have brought up the so-called Buffett Rule.

As you may know, the Buffett Rule is named for the billionaire Warren Buffett, who publicly acknowledges paying a lower tax rate than his own secretary. It was his suggestion to enact a simple but powerful rule that middle-class families shouldn’t pay higher tax rates than millionaires and billionaires.

I agree with Warren Buffett, and based on all the emails I received, thousands of Floridians do too. But the Buffett Rule is just one part of the solution — and we need to do more.

An awful lot of folks say they think our country’s tax system is unfair.

That’s the feedback I’m getting. It’s also reflective of a recent Gallup Poll that said 60 percent of all Americans support a proposal that anyone making more than $1 million pay at least 30 percent — which is a rate similar to the middle class.

Unfortunately, the level of public support didn’t change the outcome of a big Senate vote earlier this week. The Buffett Rule received a tally of 51-45, but failed because it needed 60 votes to break a GOP filibuster.

At some point Congress simply has to enact a fair tax system for all Americans. It’s one of the steps to putting our country back on the path to fiscal sanity.

That means things like passing the Buffett Rule and closing some of the worst federal tax loopholes for big corporations.

We need to take a long hard look at everything we can to address our budget crisis. That means cutting wasteful spending where we see it, while strengthening our social safety net.

But don’t you think America would be better off financially if everybody paid their fair share of taxes, too?

    Thanks for standing with me,

  4. 40 yrs too much Says:

Bill Nelson has lived at the public trough of income for over 40 years.

Please list what he has done for FLORIDIANS in those 40 years?

All Bill Nelson has done is receive a paycheck!

Loophole Bill places cattle on his property to get an agricultural exemption and lower taxes on his land.

40 years is TOO much. Let another democrat or republican get the seat.

Maybe then something will be done to help FL.

  5. Sandra Constantine Says:

At this critical time in the history of our country we need more than just a “name” or seat warmer in the US Senate. We need to nominate the strongest, most intelligent and capable candidate, who has proven his ability to be a leader for fiscal responsibility. That is George LeMieux, who wins the straw polls (e.g. Republican Women, Tea Party), whenever voters have the opportunity to hear and know his record. There is no doubt that he can beat Nelson in November. I hope that those of you who signed the above letter will stay flexible enough to get behind him when he wins the primary!

  6. Paul Bellerose Says:

George Lemieux is the ONLY candidate who deserves to run AND win. All the other deadbeat losers should just get their lazy azzes out of the way so we can make some effective changes………….
