Florida congressional Dems ‘troubled’ that Zimmerman still free in Trayvon Martin killing

by George Bennett | March 29th, 2012

Florida’s Democratic U.S. House delegation signed a letter to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi today expressing “grave concern” about the handling of the Trayvon Martin case more than a month after the unarmed black teenager was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford.

“We remain troubled that this incident occurred on February 26, 2012, and yet Mr. George Zimmerman has not been arrested,” says the letter signed by the six Florida Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Honorable Pam Bondi
Attorney General
Florida Office of the Attorney General
The Capitol PL-01
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1050

Dear Attorney General Bondi:

We write to express our grave concern over the handling of the Trayvon Martin case. It is clear that questions must be answered about the events that have transpired over the past month. Therefore, we were pleased to learn that a new State Attorney, Angela Corey of the 4th Judicial Circuit has been assigned to investigate this tragic incident, and that a task force will convene at the conclusion of this investigation.

We remain troubled that this incident occurred on February 26, 2012, and yet Mr. George Zimmerman has not been arrested. As members of the Florida Congressional delegation, we request that you keep us apprised of your findings, and provide us with a comprehensive briefing at the conclusion of your investigation.

We cannot let the standard of our judicial process be overlooked in this matter. As you know, there are a number of laws, decisions, and procedures involved in both what happened to Mr. Martin, and the subsequent actions of the Sanford Police Department. We sincerely hope that your office will do everything in its power to find answers as to what went wrong in order to prevent an incident like this from happening in the future.

Thank you for your time and consideration of our request. We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Alcee L. Hastings
Member of Congress

Frederica Wilson
Member of Congress

Ted Deutch
Member of Congress

Kathy Castor
Member of Congress

Corrine Brown

Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Member of Congress

  1. npgator Says:

I love how those liberals pick and choose their battles! JOKE!!

  2. ALLEN WEST MUST GO Says:

Every single American should be upset.

It is clear now that the Sanford P.D. has not been telling the truth.

If the state of Florida and the fascists in charge were at all interested in doing the right thing for Floridians, they would have arrested the murderer/liar already.

  3. npgator Says:

@AllenWestmustgo – You name alone renders everything you write worthless so STFU!!

  4. expert Says:

If Zimmerman walks away from this crime, many white & hispanic neighborhoods, businesses and people will be targeted. Tourism will suffer even more, and Florida will be labeled a state where no one is safe with this law in place.

  5. Targets Says:

There is no innocent until proven guilty according to these democrats.

They let rumors be the rule of the land.

Threats of violence against hispanics and whites is exactly what these democrats want.

The black community too many times have attacked businesses in their own communities. Asians have frequently been their targets.

And in Belle Glade a white grocery store owner was gunned down by a black man.

  6. Jerryball Says:

The important thing is that his gun has been taken away and his permit revoked? Is he out there with a gun still in his hands?

  7. MasterG Says:

@Jerryball I read that his gun is in police custody as evidence but his permit to carry a concealed weapon has not been revoked because he was not charged with a crime.

  8. Tom Says:

If your knee-jerk reaction to this is to rant about ‘liberals’ I question your humanity.

  9. clitbeater Says:

npgator, hope your son is next

  10. clitbeater Says:

npgator, you must be a conservative faggot!

  11. clitbeater Says:

Target, STFU and eat a big blk dick!!

  12. clitbeater Says:

Zimmerman is guilty, and I can’t wait to read that he either committed suicide or was brutally gang-rapped in prison! I look forward to reading those headlines!!

To Target and Npgator, GFYS ( go f- yourself) and die in your “below the National Average” life in FL.

  13. Todd Says:

Zimmerman should be paraded through the streets as a hero for standing up for his rights and defending himself. Some gold-teethed thug-boy assaults me he’s getting the same thing.

  14. oracle Says:

This is similar to the Duke lacrosse and Tawana Brawley persecutions.

  15. Jerryball Says:

clitbeater: You seem to be extremely fixated and fascinated with gay symbols, but please don’t sully the name of faggot by preceding the title with “Conservative.” ConservativeClit would be more apropos.

  16. Matthew Says:

Let me guess, all three are up for re-election and need a boost in the polls.

I know all three are rabid pro-criminal anti self-protection. So yes, it doesn’t surprise me that they are holding a rope and pointing a nice tall tree. After all, in a democracy whoever screams the loudest hangs those that cannot protect themselves.

  17. Truth Says:

Alcee Hastings will grasp at any headline to get the spotlight off of his nepotism and numerous ethics violations.

    LOL!

  18. L Says:

Florida dems need to start worrying about the gas prices let the justice system due it’s job!!!!!!!

  19. L Says:

Florida dems need to start worrying about the gas prices, bothced helathcare bill and how bout crime in general in our great state of florida let the justicsystem due it’s job!!

  20. George Says:

Yeap, the same democrats that said that Obamacare was constitutional!!!

  21. Barbara Newberg Says:

The second that investigators in this case have reason to believe Zimmerman may have aggressively gone after this kid, Zimmerman should be arrested on the spot. By my book, the recent Sanford Police video is enough evidence of reasonable suspision to warrant an arrest.

Until recently, I did not think Florida was part of the “Deep South”. Every day that goes by without Zimmerman’s arrest proves otherwise.

  22. Barbara Newberg Says:

A long grand jury investigation is going to raise racial tensions unnecessarily and by the way, the Sanford Police should now be under US Justice Department investigation.

  23. Career Country forum Says:

Hello there, simply changed into alert to your weblog through Google, and found that it’s really informative. I am going to be careful for brussels. I will be grateful for those who continue this in future. A lot of other people shall be benefited out of your writing. Cheers!

  24. ALLEN WEST MUST GO Says:

    @npgator,

You’re just like your fascist scumbag West.

If I disagree with you, you tell me to shut the f up. Or get out of the country.

WHY DO REPUBLICANS — LIKE ALLEN WEST — HATE FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND LOVE FASCISM??????????

  25. Chris Evans Says:

Sad day for America. I live in Florida and do not yet carry a gun but am seriously considering it to protect myself from all those that do. Thank you Florida legislature.

  26. Tactics Says:

    Democrats=seeking presidential victory in FL

    Agitating the voting base

  27. nemo Says:

To ALLEN WEST MUST GO, Barbara Newberg Says, at al; I carry a gun and have a State of Fla. Concealed Carry permit. I will always carry a gun weather the State permits it or not. I am a Republican, member of the NRA, and a combat vet. We should let the justice system run it’s course, do it’s investigation, ect. But…just in case people get “itchy” I for one am ready….and I’m not alone.

  28. philmycrackin Says:

Hey Libs, stay classy. The “SO CALLED PARTY” of the BIG TENT, you know, we invite ALL mindsets, can’t wait to JUMP all over CONSERVATIVES. ENJOY your $4.00 and over a gallon gas down there, ok, from the state just EAST of the so-called home of OBUMMER, Indiana laughs at you MORONS

  29. Justice For FAMU Says:

Where are all you lefty POS racists in Congress and Florida when it comes to charging the killers of the gay afro-american FAMU band member? It’s been more than 6 months with more than 15 witnesses and not one arrest. The boy was beaten to death- beaten so badly he bled to death from within. And yet because he was black and gay you phoney racist hate mongers ignore his brutal death. You are disgusting scum.

  30. Registered Dem Says:

This cause our congressional leaders grave concern, the facts haven’t even been found yet. Try having grave concern for our elderly that’s being mugged or how about having the worst school system in America(Trayvons parents never volunteered at his school i’m sure) or how about the illegals that litter the streets of our downtown areas. Lets see i could come up with more but just know i will be voting republican this go around just cause of your grave consern for this juvenile delinquent when florida has many many more important GRAVE CONCERNS !
