Santorum avoids glitter bomb, doesn’t correct woman who calls Obama a Muslim

LADY LAKE — Several protesters were taken away by police after they threw a bomb at GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum — a glitter bomb, that is.

Protesters first tossed glitter at Santorum several days ago in South Carolina because of his stance against homosexuality.

Santorum appeared to have avoided the hit at a town hall in Lady Lake on Monday, not showing any sign of glitter on his face or head as he left the town hall. Several of his staffers were directly hit.

The protesters were grabbed by Santorum’s staffers, and then several sheriff’s deputies hauled them away. It took two deputies to carry out one of protesters by his legs and arms.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the protesters were from Occupy Tampa. They were not arrested but given a trespassing order not to return.

What started out as a peaceful town hall became more rowdy as Santorum wrapped up his speech. Questions of President Obama’s religion remain an issue on the campaign trail, even after he has been in office for three years.

“I never refer to Obama as President Obama because legally he is not,” one woman in the crowd said during a Q&A. “He constantly says our constitution is passé and he totally ignores it, as you know. He does what he darn well pleases. He is an avowed Muslim and my question is why isn’t something being done to get him out of the government? He has no legal right to be calling himself the president.”

Santorum danced around the question, saying, “I’m doing my best to try to get him out of the government right now. And you’re right about how he uniformly ignores the constitution.”

Santorum later told reporters that he has said repeatedly he believes Obama is legally the president and that he is Christian.

Santorum briefly addressed Rev. O’Neal Dozier comments to the Palm Beach Post yesterday that Americans will not vote Mitt Romney president because he is Mormon. Santorum gave a Sunday morning sermon at Dozier’s church, and Dozier later said the Mormon church has racist views.

“No, I don’t agree with that,” Santorum said when asked if he agrees with Dozier that a Mormon cannot become president.

Santorum did not answer a question as to why he agreed to speak at Dozier’s church. In November, Herman Cain cancelled a scheduled invocation from Dozier, who has been an outspoken critic of homosexuals and Muslims.

Earlier in the town hall, Santorum said he believes GOP voters like him the best of all the candidates, but don’t believe he can.

    Repeating . . .

    The Bill of No-Rights

We the latest generation of sensible people in the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the rewards of liberty to ourselves, our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hereby establish some common sense guidelines for those whiny, guilt ridden and delusional free riders.

(A lot of good people are confused by the original Bill of Rights and thus are offered these corollary thoughts in simple language.)

WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF EVIDENT:

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. You are sincerely encouraged and more power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone — not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc . . . but the world is full of idiots — and always shall be! Accept this and learn to ignore them.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people in the world, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional worthless couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than breeding another generation of professional worthless couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we’re just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don’t be surprised if the rest of us enjoy seeing your pain when you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don’t be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won’t have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right TO PURSUE happiness — which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don’t care where you are from or which language you wish to speak within the privacy of your own home or with your relatives, friends or acquaintances. In every day public affairs however, English is our common language — other good folks who came here long before you realized, profited from, and learned it.

ARTICLE XI: You are given the freedom to believe in and practice any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. This is a country where most of us ultimately trust in common sense, logic and continual education. We have an easy peace with and tolerance for those who wish to digress in whichever direction they want — long as they do not try to force their thinking or lifestyle on the rest of us.

The above are about our love for freedom and liberty – and allowing them to re-emerge in our society and flourish again.

(The Tea Party movement is a grassroots movement of millions of like-minded Americans from all backgrounds and political parties. Tea Party members share similar core principles supporting the United States Constitution as the Founders intended, such as:

    • Limited federal government
    • Individual freedoms
    • Personal responsibility
    • Free markets
    • Returning political power to the states and the people

As a movement, The Tea Party is not a political party nor is it looking to form a third political party any time soon. The Tea Party movement is instead, about reforming all political parties and government so that the core principles of our Founding Fathers become, once again, the foundation upon which America stands.)

We believe, like many of you, that our government has grown out-of-control in a death spiral of unsustainable and barely imaginable trillion-dollar deficits and a national debt rivaling Gross Domestic Product. This government has ignored the Constitution that defines us; invaded the liberty from which our nation was born; and daily drains away the individuality and entrepreneurial spirit of Americans in order to advance a radical, socialist policy built on the back of American taxpayers. We—like many of you—decided to stand up and do something about it.

There is no single national “TEA PARTY” organization, so do not let anyone tell you otherwise. This is a truly grassroots Movement embracing many issues and many names—TEA, Patriot, Liberty, Conservative. There are several thousand, completely independent groups across the Nation fighting in their own way to restore our America before it is too late.

Like many of you, we decided to stand up so our children inherit as great a nation as we did—not a socialist paradise crippled by debt. Like many of you, we looked at what we could do, and do well, to make a difference. With so many already in the fight across the nation, we decided to find ways to connect individuals and organizations, to share the message, and, above all, to bring more Americans into this Movement. That is what TheTeaParty.net is about—bringing our shared message to as many Americans as possible, giving them the tools to get involved, and connecting them to others locally to make a difference.

Our mission is to recruit like-minded Americans to the Tea Party movement in order to advance the principles of limited government, fiscal restraint, and individual liberty at all levels of government through promotion and education.

  3. Better Luck Next Time Says:

I’m sure all the liberals, media included, thought the “glitter bomb” stunt was really cool. In reality, it was juvenile, tasteless and really, really stupid. And these people want to be taken seriously.

  4. Test Pattern Says:

Santorum and his ilk are rightly seen by the majority of americans as everything that was so wrong in this country in the 1950s. We have progressed to the point of not judging a person by their sexuality, color, race, etc. But the Santorums of this world are so threatened by this progress. They will fade into the dustbin of oblivion, like slavery and repression.

  5. DBK Says:

“Santorum later told reporters that he has said repeatedly he believes Obama is legally the president and that he is Christian.”

Why didn’t Santorum have the sack to say the racist bigot who said to him that Obama is legally not the president and an avowed Muslim?

‘“No, I don’t agree with that,” Santorum said when asked if he agrees with Dozier that a Mormon cannot become president.”

Why didn’t Santorum have the sack to tell Dozier and his congregation that right after Dozier said it?

Because Santorum is a sackless hate monger who is counting on the ignorance of these racists and bigots to put him in office.

  6. sebastian dansk Says:

there is very little that I like about Santorum, but glitter bombs? That is so stupid. If you can’t engage in a sensible dialogue/debate with someone, throwing glitter isn’t a good fallback strategy.

  7. dark gator Says:

Well of course — everybody knows that Muslims are NOT permitted to be President, it’s so stated in the Constitution some place!

Lets get real the poor guy is fixing some coked up cowboys F—- UPS.

  10. The Real Perspective Says:

Santorum will never be President of the United States.

Who cares what he says and does.

  11. FloridityNow Says:

Some rather dramatic looking “man on man” action there. I guess that’s only to be expected in a room full of d***heads.

  12. Renegade Says:

There goes Same ole same ole with his typical Racist BS. The racist overtones are more than evident in his childish “Bill of no rights”. Just can’t stand having an intelligent African American in the ” whitey” house as he calls it.

And before any of you go crying about the “worn out race card” I am speaking of one individual who has proven and admitted his racism so save your breath.
