Rooney departs from GOP piecemeal strategy with sweeping jobs bill
by George Bennett | November 7th, 2011
U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, says he doesn’t disagree with the House GOP leadership’s piecemeal approach to the economy.
But Rooney has introduced his own comprehensive “Restore America Act” that addresses taxes, regulations and domestic energy production in a single piece of legislation.
“I’m sick of people asking ‘Where’s your jobs plan?’ So here it is,” Rooney says in this week’s Politics column, where you’ll also read about CFO Jeff Atwater‘s take on the U.S. Senate race and business reaction to a new countywide commission chairman idea.

Keep paying your bills. The President and First Lady are going to Hawaii, Bali and Australia.
Wonder if they’ll have Kobi beef, or lobster. Probably both.
So, while we struggle, the Obamas are partying heartily on our dime.

The Bill of No-Rights
We the latest generation of sensible people in the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the rewards of liberty to ourselves, our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hereby establish some common sense guidelines for those whiny, guilt ridden and delusional free riders.
(A lot of good people are confused by the original Bill of Rights and thus are offered these corollary thoughts in simple language.)
WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF EVIDENT:
ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. You are sincerely encouraged and more power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.
ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone — not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc . . . but the world is full of idiots — and always shall be! Accept this and learn to ignore them.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people in the world, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional worthless couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than breeding another generation of professional worthless couch potatoes.
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we’re just not interested in public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don’t be surprised if the rest of us enjoy seeing your pain when you fry in the electric chair.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don’t be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won’t have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right TO PURSUE happiness — which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don’t care where you are from or which language you wish to speak within the privacy of your own home or with your relatives, friends or acquaintances. In every day public affairs however, English is our common language — other good folks who came here long before you realized, profited from, and learned it.
ARTICLE XI: You are given the freedom to believe in and practice any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. This is a country where most of us ultimately trust in common sense, logic and continual education. We have an easy peace with and tolerance for those who wish to digress in whichever direction they want — long as they do not try to force their thinking or lifestyle on the rest of us.
The above are about our love for freedom and liberty – and allowing them to re-emerge in our society and flourish again.

(The Tea Party movement is a grassroots movement of millions of like-minded Americans from all backgrounds and political parties. Tea Party members share similar core principles supporting the United States Constitution as the Founders intended, such as:
• Limited federal government
• Individual freedoms
• Personal responsibility
• Free markets
• Returning political power to the states and the people
As a movement, The Tea Party is not a political party nor is it looking to form a third political party any time soon. The Tea Party movement is instead, about reforming all political parties and government so that the core principles of our Founding Fathers become, once again, the foundation upon which America stands.)

To same old same old…. great post, couldn’t have said it any better…

Rep. Rooney needs to explain why we need more domestic energy production if nothing will be done to stop the continual off shore of USA manufacturing! If places such as china, india, honduras, iraq, afghanistan, and all the numerous and growing list of foreign nations need our best and brightest American STEM graduates coming up with more ideas to off shore for manufacturing to keep those foreign billions of idle hands employed and not doing the devils work; why does energy production have to be domestic? What happened to keeping energy costs low and removing speculation that extracts profits from end users who are job creators? If the jobs problem in our nation like the right wing think tanks want everyone to believe is mechanization and our workers are so over productive rather than all the stores full of foreign made products from electronics to underwear, why doesn’t Rep. Rooney’s plan call for shorter work shifts so American companies will hire more employees? Why does Rep. Rooney not do something to help our manufacturing that must compete in our own nation with unfair trade agreements of oppressive and polluting foreign nations? Is eliminating the minimal wage all these republican idiots can come up with to create jobs here not associated with producing fossil fuels?

Thank you, mike.
This basic idea was started in 1993 by Lewis Napper a Libertarian from Mississippi who ran for the U.S. Senate.
It has been forwarded around the Internet millions of times since then and been changed (improved?) by many who touched. I simply like the version I posted.
Since more and more people now recognize the seriousness of and are interested in our current national, state and local corrupt politico/economic dilemmas, it is much more topical, immediate and popular; and has taken up a spreading wild fire pace.

How do we have domestic energy production with foreign made well blow-out preventers along with numerous other products? Why stop at domestic production for energy independence when vehicles, electronics, and appliances that use that energy are imported from foreign nations? What gives these tea party fear mongers the right to push for domestic industry winners and losers based on their brain washed and warped definition of free market economics? Limited federal government and free markets? More like federal government limits and rigged trade agreements so the party members can profit from crony capitalisms!

ARTICLE XII: You have the right to ignore people who are embarrassed to call themselves Republicans anymore, so they came up with a new name. People who continue to vote against their own best interest. People who do the lobbying for the very same corporations that destroyed our economy. People who believe a lot of lies and are helping destroy all the gains of the middle class while protecting the ultra rich. People who’s motto is I got mine, to hell with you. Trickle down economics never has and never will work. But at least you can all feel like you’ve found a cause. You’re dead wrong but hey, who needs facts?

November 7th, 2011 at 7:52 pm
Article XIII: You have the right as part of the majority to determine the future and course for this great country. To protect and defend OUR bill of rights and to use any means necessary to stop any small minority seeking to undermine it. If they are determined to commit treason against this nation, people, Constitution, and our Democratic principles, you have the right to use whatever force, including deadly force, to prevent these treasonous acts and protect our democracy.

@Same old, I liked where you were going with your post. I’ve seen different versions and can appreciate its meaning. However….. You completely lost my appreciation of you when you had to include the Tea Party. If you want to try and say the TP is for the people, you’re full of s**t. Why don’t you be honest with yourself and admit you are nothing more than the far right hypocritical Bible thumping faction of the Republican Party. Hence, every lobbyist sucking troll/politician in the RNC jumped on the Tea Party bandwagon. I’m not affiliated with any party. You can save any comment regarding me being a Liberal.
Currently, the politicians are beginning to run very fast from your faction. In fact, the majority of Americans despise your very existence. A true American wants to see fair taxation, equal opportunity, quality of life and sound, sensible Government. Complete privatization only breeds corruption, it’s been proven through the various monopolies in history. You represent none of the above. Don’t come on these threads preaching you do, because our current economic struggles is largely due to your TP philosophy. Is the Democrat way the way to go? Probably not. But true Americans want to see common sense and the big picture take over partisan politics. Again, this idea you don’t represent. Continue praying on Sunday while you plan to screw people on Monday. Continue having your financial backers dump millions of dollars to your Republican candidates. When you can break from the TP philosophy, then you might be a true American.

Same Ole, Same Ole Says
. . bla bla bla.
Now thats one inteligent response. How long it take you to come up with that you mental giant you??
Thats right, you never actually respond to people because all your posts are things you copied from someone else. You don’t have the intelligence to ever discuss what you post. Probably don’t understand most of it. The only time you ever respond its just name calling or childish insults or. . bla bla bla.

Get lost GOP and Tea Party. Yes, we all have the right to a job, to food, clothing, housing and health care. And you will go to hell should you continue to deprive people in this country of these basic needs. God did not create you to deprive people of basic things as food, shelter etc. And, NO you will never take those things away from us – the poor of America. stop the rhetoric and pass the jobs bill – you morons!

Same Ole, I’m hardly a ‘dumb azz’. I fully understand the original meaning of the Tea Party. It’s similar to the current ‘Occupy’ movement in theory. I’ve watched to many speeches by your beloved Republicans; Perry, Bachmann, Scott, Palin etc. All of which need to pray to God and pander to the Right Wing Christian Conservatives. So, who’s the ‘dumb azz’ now. I will continue to ridicule you and your short sighted views. The majority does not want your politics, as proven by polls conducted on both sides. You can troll and post your rhetoric daily, the end of the game is quickly approaching and you are losing. The majority considers you a ‘dumb azz’. You can thank Government for the right to post your crap daily. You can thank Government for protecting your sorry ass. You can thank Government for bailing out the private institutions. What say you? ‘dumb azz’!
