Rick Perry’s cringeworthy moment: ‘Commerce, Education and the, uh…..’

by George Bennett | November 9th, 2011

The Department of Energy, a Jimmy Carter creation that has been a familiar conservative punching bag for more than three decades, eluded Texas Gov. Rick Perry during tonight’s GOP presidential debate when he launched into a familiar riff about federal agencies he’d like to dismantle.

“It’s three agencies of government when I get there that are gone: Commerce, Education and the, uh, what’s the third one there, let’s see….”

By the time Perry came up with the Department of Energy minutes later, the episode was already being compared to other legendary self-inflicted presidential debate wounds, including former President Gerald R. Ford‘s insistence in 1976 that “there is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe and there never will be under a Ford administration.”

By Thanksgiving Cains 9-9-9 plan will be the total of the women he has sexually harassed during his career as an Uncle Tom for corporate America.
Have you been to a Godfather’s pizza lately? That this restaurant chain is so great that we should make their former CEO president is absurd.

Rick Santorim? Please – he’s a 1-term senator who got crushed when people in PA. realized what a jerk he is.

Ron Paul? A total joke who would destroy our financial system in 3 months if he ever got into the White House.

Bachman? She collects over $23,000 a month from the government for all her foster kids that her gay husband takes care of and rails against government waste? Can you say Hypocrite. Stop collecting all the foster child payments and bringing more & more of them into 1 household then you can bark about government waste.

Huntsman is the only bright bulb on the stage but has zero charisma.

It’s Obama by a landslide no matter which one of these bonehead jitbags gets the nomination to represent the Koch brothers next year.

I am a tried and true Democrat, but honestly, the guy had a senior moment, it’s not fair to make such a big deal of this. He is not presidential material that is obvious for many reasons but seriously, who of us hasn’t under pressure forgotten something. Jeesh

  5. Fedgal Says:

Gov Perry forgot one of the MANY initials of one of the MANY federal agencies! I worked for one of those agencies and we would all forget those initials from time to time also. Bigger fish to fry, then making an issue of forgetting. Smaller gov’t less initials.

  6. Rick S. Says:

    Rick Scott for President!

  7. Big Dem Says:

  11. tony v Says:
