Dems target Romney in TV ad as ‘two men trapped in one body’

by Dara Kam | November 28th, 2011

Democrats unleashed an attack ad – “Trapped” – targeting Mitt Romney in his bid to unseat President Barack Obama. The movie trailer-style TV ad portrays Romney’s political career as “the story of two men trapped in one body” and directs viewers to a longer, online ad entitled “Mitt v. Mitt”

The ads characterize the former Massachusetts governor “for what he truly is: a flip-flopper, a candidate without core beliefs, and someone who’s simply without conviction,” Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz told reporters on a conference call this morning.

“The American people appreciate that there are many different points of view in our diverse nation. That is something that people expect. They just don’t expect one candidate to espouse all of them,” Wasserman Schultz, a Congresswoman from Weston, said.

Democrats are feverishly portraying Romney, in Florida on fundraising sweep tonight and tomorrow, as inconsistent in an effort to peel off support from conservative GOP voters with six weeks until Republicans begin choosing their nominee. They’re targeting Romney although recent polls show Newt Gingrich at the top of the GOP pack.

The DNC ad, showing contradictory clips of Romney on health care and abortion, is running in Albuquerque, N.M., Raleigh, N.C., Columbus, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and Washington.

“From the creator of `I’m running for office for Pete’s sake,’ comes the story of two men trapped in one body,” the ad says.

The four-minute video, entitled “Mitt versus Mitt,” also includes clips of Romney reversing his positions on issues.

As I look at the sorry sorry set of Republican “rivals” on the other side, it makes me more thankful than ever…. to have Barack Obama as President of the United States, and as a viable candidate for re-election. Mr. Obama: your heart, your values, and your basic decency are all in the right place. But… your hands are tied. Unfortunately they were tied by us, the electorate…..when we failed to provide you with a Congress that you can work with. Instead, you are saddled with a don’t-tax-the-1%-do-nothing Congress that battles you at every turn, while the people suffer. God, they don’t EVEN let you pass your own appointments. It’s not Tea-publican gridlock – it’s Tea-publican sabotage. Heck, it’s Tea-publican treason.  And then they try to pin the blame on Mr. Obama. These people have no shame…or else its been purchased by those who can afford to do so. Thankfully, with Occupy Wall Street America has found its voice : a voice that reminds us that people -ordinary working people- really DO matter. Instead of talking about less government , and more painful cuts, its a voice that demands a government that WORKS, a government that works FOR ALL OF US, not just for a favored few, not just for the rich. Its a voice that comes up from the grassroots, and lifts us up: because it says that this land IS our land…and we WANT IT BACK! And most importantly, it’s a voice that will help us to re-elect the President AND  give him a more progressive Congress to work with. Mr. Obama: I wish you well. You STILL give me hope.

Apparently, Obama and the democrats think only ‘educated whites’ are important.

They are abandoning non ‘educated’ whites and whites in general.

    Here’s the democrats tactics:

Ha i had the same thought as DWS. Romney is trying to represent everyone’s views at the same time.
I hear hes coming out with a new slogan.
Mitt Romney: I Will Say Anything To Get Elected!

  7. Eric Says:

There’s little doubt that Romney lacks core values, just as Debbie Wasserman Schultz lacks any original thoughts.

  8. O's the Flipper Says:

Let’s not forget that Obama promised to close Gitmo and once President has kept it open.

Let’s not forget that Obama promised to end Rendition and once President has kept it.

Let’s not forget that Obama promised Transparency and once President has failed to provide information on Solyndra and Fast and Furious gun running in Mexico.

Let’s not forget that Obama once President didn’t consult Congress on entering the USA into war in Libya.

Let’s not forget that Obama called Egypt’s Mubarek an “ally” and then dumped him.

Let’s not forget that Obama promised to make the space agency a priority then closed the program ENDING 26,000 jobs in FL.

Let’s not forget that Obama promised to keep missle defense in Poland and Czech Repub as a deterrent to Iran then told Russia we wouldn’t

TALK ABOUT A FLIP FLOPPER! That’s OBAMA. You have to laugh when he crucified Bush’s programs and then when President KEPT THEM!

Several newspapers are now reporting that Newt Gingrich is dating and basically living with Callista Bisek, a “willowy blond Congressional aide 23 years his junior.” Biske, 33, has been spending nights at Gingrich’s apartment near the Capitol and has her own key. In an amazing act of hypocrisy, Gingrich was apparently dating Bisek all during Clinton-Lewinsky adultery scandal, even as he proclaimed family values and bitterly criticized the President for his adultery.

Reporters and other Washington insiders have known about this relationship since 1994, even before Gingrich became Speaker of the House, but did not have any solid proof to report. In 1995, Vanity Fair magazine described Bisek as Gingrich’s “frequent breakfast companion.” Gingrich was married to Marianne Gingrich during all of that time, and just filed for divorce in August 1999.

Newt is apparently trying to create a new hybrid form, Christian adultery. According to MSNBC, Bisek sings in the National Shrine Choir, and Newt would often wait for her at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, listening to her sing while he read the Bible.

This is hardly the first time Newt has cheated, either. “It was common knowledge that Newt was involved with other women during his [first] marriage to Jackie. Maybe not on the level of John Kennedy. But he had girlfriends — some serious, some trivial.” — Dot Crews, his campaign scheduler throughout the 70s. One woman, Anne Manning, has come forward and confirmed a relationship with him during the 1976 campaign. “We had oral sex. He prefers that modus operandi because then he can say, ‘I never slept with her.’”

Kip Carter, his former campaign treasurer, was walking Newt’s daughters back from a football game one day and cut across a driveway where he saw a car. “As I got to the car, I saw Newt in the passenger seat and one of the guys’ wives with her head in his lap going up and down. Newt kind of turned and gave me this little-boy smile. Fortunately, Jackie Sue and Kathy were a lot younger and shorter then.”

Family Values? Pressing Wife for Divorce in the Hospital:
“He walked out in the spring of 1980…. By September, I went into the hospital for my third surgery. The two girls came to see me, and said, “Daddy is downstairs. Could he come up?” When he got there, he wanted to discuss the terms of the divorce while I was recovering from my surgery.” – Jackie, his first wife.
    Dead-Beat Dad:
The hospital visit wasn’t the end of it, either. Jackie had to take Newt to court to get him to contribute for bills, as utilities were about to be cut off.
    Draft Dodger:
Though he relentlessly pushes military spending and talks like a bigtime hawk, Gingrich avoided the Vietnam War through a combination of student and family deferments. (He married one of his teachers at age 19.)

    Problems With Women?
Newt pressed his first wife to sign divorce papers while she was still in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. He also graciously said “She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife.” But his second marriage hasn’t been that smooth either. Newt and Marianne have been separated – “frankly”, she told the Washington Post in June 1989, “it’s been on and off for some time.”
