UPDATE: FL Dems want to know – What have Republicans done for you lately?

by Dara Kam | October 25th, 2011

UPDATE: Florida Republicans call the Dems new website “desperate.” This from Republican Party of Florida spokesman Brian Hughes: “With the most recent state reports showing RPOF outraised Florida Democrats by 5-to-1, it’s no surprise they are desperate to raise money. But this lame website demonstrates a level of desperation that is even worse than we thought possible. Instead of touting their anointed leaders, Barack Obama or Debbie Wasserman Schultz, they recycle ridiculous, cheap attacks. This tactic is more evidence why Floridians reject Democrats on Election Day.”

The Florida Democratic Party launched a new website today blaming Gov. Rick Scott and his fellow Republican lawmakers for the state’s dire economic straits.

The website accuses “Rickpublicans” of ethical lapses and causing teacher layoffs, among other things, and blasts Scott for “backsliding” on his campaign pledge to create 700,000 jobs over seven years as governor.

And the Dems remind viewers that Republicans have had a stranglehold on the state legisalture and governor’s mansion for more than a decade.

The site gives this definition of a “Rickpublican:”
[rick-puhb-li-kuh´n]
noun
1. Proper name for Florida Republicans wrought with greed and corruption who are hell-bent on selling out to the corporations and special interests while leaving Florida’s middle class families out-to-dry.

The Dems also use “Six Degrees of Separation” to link half a dozen GOP politicians – including Palm Beach County’s Adam Hanser and U.S. Rep. Allen West – to Scott, whose popularity among voters remains dim.

  1. Sid Says:

Over 90,000 net new jobs – and we’re still in Year 1.

  2. Downtown Danny Says:

Republicans have destroyed this nation and this state. They ignore the $900 billion wasted and over 4,000 dead Americans and 34,000 wounded Americans they sent to Iraq in an illegal war. They ignore that they have stood in the way of any meaningful progress in health care or the economy so they can just blame Obama. Republicans put 286 amendments on the health care bill and stopped a public health care option from happening so we still have 50 million without health care – the only industrialized nation with this problem – thanks to republicans. For the last 2 years Republicans have done nothing for anyone but pimp for the rich and demand we cut their taxes and raise taxes on the poor. Scott has corrupted the entire state and has done nothing to help anyone – remember he at first wanted to do away with the prescription drugs law so his drug company pals could continue to make Florida the # 1 provider of Roxy’s the nation. Any new jobs that have occurred are due to the normal winter season hiring – not anything Scott or republicans have done. Destroying government services does not create jobs – it just hurts people.

  3. tropicgirl Says:

Blabbermouth Schultz probably spends so much time in Stinkington that she has no clue that we are leading the country in creating new jobs.

Scott is NOT my favorite person. In fact, he’s an idiot. But the facts are the facts.

Florida, traditionally, has always been run by crooked Democrats. I used to vote for them. The things they have done to this state, over the years, would make anyone cringe.

    Trailer classrooms, anyone?

  4. melody Says:

When a political spokesman uses “anointed” to describe elected representation that is when that persons remarks go in the dumpster and it indicates they have no legitimate rebuttal! We voters deserve more respect than sports locker room team trash talk! Tell us something, republican party spokesperson, besides the fact big money is pouring in to buy the political party doing nothing but screaming wealthy and corporations need more tax cuts!

  5. Indie Voter Says:

    Luv Rick Scott!

The South FL democrats can’t stand that they are not the party in charge.

They USE the media to bash Scott right and left and this leftist rag is front and center.

Now, the focus is unseating Obama and Senator Do nuthin’ Nelson.

  6. Obama has failed Says:

And exactly what has Obama done for the people of the USA?

Home prices DECLINE MORE than EXPECTED!

YO! Obama and the democrats have failed the people.

They had two full years to pass their programs and this is where we are: FURTHER BEHIND

  7. melody Says:

You know that thing about home values falling? Funny thing is many of us that didn’t want a new higher priced home or new mortgage to extract value from our home to purchase like crazy never felt, based on yearly income opportunities for this area, that skyrocketing speculative prices of homes were actually true to begin with years ago! Those speculated higher home values did nothing but collect more in property taxes from us with existing homes and didn’t provide much but roads and services for new speculator driven developments because impact fees were cut to attract buyers that never were there! It seems these people having problems with plunging home values were recent group of fools that should be first concerned about finding or creating value added higher paying USA jobs not related to housing construction!

  8. Grosero Says:

Let me think as what Gov. Dick Scott $ Cronies have done for me?
    Hmmm…
They stopped answering sending form letters via email from lowly interns about where are the jobs!

Allen minion spout that the bill was not introduce, more like a good ole fashion TPublican filibuster.

Guano runs down hill that what I have learned from the TPublicans’, guano runs down hill, n=and I’m at the bottom!!

  9. Searcher Says:

We haven’t had a DEMOCRAT for GOV since the 1998 (Jeb’s 1st term). The Florida LEGISLATURE has been under REPUB control since 1996. So, EVERYTHING for the last DECADE and 3 years for GOVERNOR and the last DECADE AND 1/2 for the LEGISLATURE has been run by REPUBLICANS. They get the credit or the BLAME! And lately it has been the BLAME!

  10. Ready to Go! Says:

We’re going to elect a republican president and senator from FL.

  11. Pedro on the Gold Coast Says:

People will only fall for trickle down economics for so long, especially when they find only a trickle has been portioned to them. The reason Repubs dislike big government is because only a big government has to power to investigate and prosecute them for all the corruption they propagate. And of course they hate education and teachers because they would educate the masses, something no republican wants to face.

What the republicans have done for me lately is to make me want to send every penny I can afford to Obama and other demoncrats who will stand up to their slimy dirty tricks.

  12. RENEGADE Says:

Obama has done more good for the American people in 3 1/2 years than even Reagan was able to do in 8!!!

HE KEPT THE REPUBLICANS OUT OF THE WHITEHOUSE !!!!

  13. getinformedonissues Says:

Obama is a good leader but even the best leader can’t lead people who don’t directly report to them and put themselves ahead of the country. My decisions are not party based but leadership based. Recap – leaders focus on long term visions and set agendas accordingly (we should vote based on the long term vision put forth by candidates not by party and not by solving one problem because all problems are integrated); the congress is expected to create and pass laws that execute that vision. None of this is working so my conclusion is the current team (president & congress) is not a good fit, can’t work together and all should all be replaced – not just the president but all incumbents – regardless of party. If we all continue to vote party lines then corporations will continue to dictate to government. Corporations run governments and they don’t care if the government is republican or democrat as long as their lobbies can influence laws in the industry’s favor. Industry hedge their bets and fund both sides. The only way Americans – we the people – can control this game is voting for the best person based on his/her history, record, ethics, values, vision for the country and COMMITMENT to execute on that vision and then we have to measure that commitment which good unbiased media would do.
Our current system is so polarized (which benefits divide and conquer strategies) that putting all the blame on a president is just uninformed. The only way you can blame a president for failure is in a dictatorship. We have a democracy which only works well if we debate ideas to come to the best compromise based on shared principles like creating a more efficient government to lower operating costs and raise revenue appropriately in order to create a business friendly, people friendly country which includes a good health care system, good education system, and good infrastructure. All you have to do is look internationally to see what other countries are doing to realize how far we have fallen under the increasingly inefficient system of US democracy. Give it a thought. Vote incumbents out, and vote in the best person based on
    - Ability to articulate a vision for the state / and country
    - Past record of values, integrity, and honesty
    - Ability to articulate the current problems and detailed solutions (we want someone that knows the details not someone who generalizes)
    - Commitment to work together to solve problems
These qualities are easy to measure too
    - If candidates can’t be consistent with their vision then they don’t have one
    - If candidates have past issues – you can’t trust them
    - If candidates only generalize on problems or only have a partial solution then they do not understand the big picture and the problems.
    - If they can’t give a commitment then they are not putting country ahead of self or special interest.
It is just that simple. So get informed, open your mind and let’s turn this country around like we know how to do.

  14. mike Says:

What has criminal scott and liar rubio done for Florida. Nothing good. Of course the gotp has more money – they consistently praise and fight for the 1% of our country. The 1% who control more wealth than the 99%. The wheels are turning though. Goldman sacs exec. arrested today and many more to follow. We will prevail.

  15. melody Says:

Some have forgotten that it was Supreme Court decision on “Citizens United” case that now allows essentially unlimited corporate and monied special interest funds controlling our political campaign system. Unless legislation is enacted to GET MONEY OUT, voters wishes will now forever be crippled by monied special interests.

  17. Dee Says:

To tropicgirl : you are clueless. Democrats haven’t been in charge of Floridah for years.
Vote eary: you have my vote. That said, the Republicans want Obama out of office because they are white bread racists who can’t stand the fact that there beloved “W” is responsible for this disaster called America. They would rather ruin the country than credit Obama with any progress getting Americans back on their feet again.

  18. Dee Says:

    Oops should be “their” beloved
