West says Bachmann made ‘incredible faux pas’ on Everglades drilling

by George Bennett | August 30th, 2011

PALM BEACH GARDENS — U.S. Rep. Allen West told a town hall audience today that Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann made “an incredible faux pas” when she said she is open to allowing drilling for oil and natural gas in the Everglades if it can be done safely.

“When I see her next week, I’ll straighten her out about that,” West said of the Minnesota congresswoman.

West is a member of the House Tea Party Caucus, which Bachmann chairs.

Wow, one of the times I remember disagreeing with West. It may not be a politically popular decision to do so, but it is technologically possible to extract that gas. The methane gas already is at the surface bubbling up in locations of the Glades, it’s silly to think that it can’t be extracted safely.

  2. Would she drill Old Faithful? Says:

West is right on. Bachmann is shallow and uninformed on the Florida environment. Visit Southern Louisiana if you think you can drill without harming the environment. Is she going to put a drill rig in the snail, kite or wading bird habitat? I guess she would revoke the endangered species and clean water acts to find oil we do not need and is probably not there. What an empty headed comment!

Allen West should know a thing or two about trying to pry your foot from your mouth.

So, is he an environmentalist or a TEA-BAG? He won’t say anything to Bachmann, he’ll just wink and say he did….

    West is an Uncle Tom.

Can these Tea-Party Poopers ever see eye-to-eye? Drug-testing was a bust…98% of all Welfare recipients passed-fired teachers in Broward County are subbing as poll workers and the clear treason-like behavior of Bohner against the President of the United States of America is unforgivable. Maybe the Florida GOP lawmakers need new jobs.((In the unemployment line.)
