Huckabee endorses Haridopolos in 2012 GOP Senate primary

by George Bennett | May 12th, 2011

Former Arkansas Gov. and 2008 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has endorsed state Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, in Florida’s 2012 GOP Senate primary.

Haridopolos was an early Huckabee supporter during the 2008 campaign.

The backing of the former Baptist minister should help Haridopolos with the important social conservative segment of the Republican primary electorate.

Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux and former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner are also vying for the right to challenge Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

Gov. Huckabee Endorses Mike Haridopolos for US Senate

Calls Haridopolos a Proven Fiscal and Social Conservative

Gov. Mike Huckabee, a 2008 Republican presidential candidate, has endorsed Mike Haridopolos in his bid to unseat liberal incumbent US Senator Bill Nelson.

“We need a new generation of proven fiscal and social conservative leaders in the US Senate and that is why I am proud to endorse and support my good friend, Mike Haridopolos for the US Senate in Florida,” said Huckabee. “Mike will fight for our conservative values in Washington, just as he has done in leading the tremendous work of the Florida Senate.”

“I am honored to have such a tremendous conservative leader like Gov. Huckabee stand with me and other Floridians to tell Washington that enough is enough,” said Haridopolos. “We’ve had enough of the broken promises, record borrowing, and deficits coming from the failed policies of Bill Nelson and Barack Obama,” Haridopolos concluded.

In addition to publically endorsing Haridopolos, Gov. and Mrs. Huckabee made a contribution to the Haridopolos campaign. “Janet and I have contributed the maximum possible contribution to Mike’s campaign because we believe in him and are thrilled that someone with his integrity and solid record of conservative reform is willing to take on the Goliath of Washington failure,” said Huckabee.

Mike Haridopolos is the President of the Florida Senate, where he presides over the most fiscally conservative body since Reconstruction. Mike and his wife, Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos, live in Merritt Island, Florida, where they are raising their 3 children.

What a perfect marriage. Mike Ha. is famous for writing one copy of a lame pamphlet for a university (and getting paid handsomely for it). Mike Hu. as of today is famous for writing a lame, warped, fictional cartoon account of US history.
