Glenn Beck’s ‘dream’ presidential ticket: Allen West-Michele Bachmann
by George Bennett | April 11th, 2011Glenn Beck says his presidential “dream team” would feature rookie U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, for president and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., as his running mate.
“I want to start a Draft Allen West movement,” Beck said on his radio show today.
West has a strong national following, but has rejected presidential speculation and criticized “leadership by cult of personality.” Bachmann is exploring a White House run.
Beck praised West for the 2003 incident in Iraq in which West fired a gun near the head of an Iraqi detainee to get him to divulge details of a suspected ambush. West, who was initially charged with assault, ended up being relieved of his command, paying a $5,000 fine and retiring as a lieutenant colonel with a full pension.
Said Beck of West (around the 4:00 mark on this therightscoop.com clip): “He’s not afraid to pull the trigger. He’s not afraid, and he takes responsibility. That’s what I love about him the most. The guy takes responsibility. He’s like ‘OK, yeah, I did it. I did it. Here’s my gun. Cuff me. Take me away, ’cause I’ll do it again.’ And he was right, but he was willing to take the consequences for what he did….I love that. That’s the kind of honor that we need….It is time to restore honor and I think Allen West, I think he’s the guy.”

Did they ever figure out if that white powder was cocaine?
April 11th, 2011 at 2:03 pm
I am quite certain West has a very bright political future. We in FL-22 are incredibly fortunate to have Allen West in DC standing firm on his principles and goal to restore fiscal responsibility to this country. That’s where the focus needs to be.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:05 pm
This is GREAT! Where do we sign? Put West Bachman on the ticket today! No need to wait! President Obama will be really scared, really!
April 11th, 2011 at 2:09 pm
yhea, fiscal responsability…corporations whose profits are in the billions pay NO taxes, super rich and wealthy pay hardly any while they both destroy the enviornment…destory the middle class, all on the backs of the new working poor…and the totally poor, well who cares about them, its there fault anyway…sounds real responsible.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:13 pm
Correction – We in FL-22 are NOT incredibly fortunate to have Allen West in DC. We are embarrassed that the electorate slipped up in electing someone who doesn’t even live in FL-22. West believes that he is above the law as he would repeat his actions. Someone of this nature doesn’t need to be in a position to make laws. Hopefully when the new districts are redrawn, someone of his character won’t be representing Palm Beach County.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:14 pm
Now I think I will throw up.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:16 pm
Oh, Daniel. The poor will have a place in the new new order of the Grand Old Philanderers…somebody has to fight all the new wars they will start and the old wars that will last for 100s of years…may as well be “the little people.” Outside of a McJob, a kid’s best shot now is the military. Financial aid is being cut and degrees don’t guarantee anything anymore. So keep marching those ss boots to the right as u salute our next dictators adolf west.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:19 pm
Dear Mr. Beck:
Congressman West said he was not running for president. I wonder why would you think you’d have more influence in his decision than his own family?
The Congressman is committed in serving his district right now and he’s doing a great job at it.
@daniel: if you mean by companies who aren’t paying any taxes (eg: GE), why not ask the president about it? Afterall, CEO of GE is the head of the president’s competitiveness and jobs council. Just a coincidence, I am sure.
In 2009, per NYT, the head of GE tax team, Mr. Samuels, met with Representative Charles B. Rangel, then chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, which would decide the fate of the tax break. As he sat with the committee’s staff members outside Mr. Rangel’s office, Mr. Samuels dropped to his knee and pretended to beg for the provision to be extended — a flourish made in jest, he said through a spokeswoman.
That day, Mr. Rangel reversed his opposition to the tax break, according to other Democrats on the committee.
The following month, Mr. Rangel and Mr. Immelt stood together at St. Nicholas Park in Harlem as G.E. announced that its foundation had awarded $30 million to New York City schools, including $11 million to benefit various schools in Mr. Rangel’s district.
Just another coincidence.

@ crabby Jackazz, get a clue, you people don’t get it. i do not care about demacrook or repubsickens…this world is in for a big awakening. i know the democrats are crooks, but they are not as obvious as repubs…the human race is going off a cliff and the repubs want to step on the gas. wake up man cus u sir are clueless.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:32 pm
Hey crabjack- if you are trying to say that the t-bag gop is not all about continuing tax breaks to the wealthy, continuing corprate welfare for the corporations and taking away benefits from the poor and middle class, just say so. Otherwise stop your incoherent ramblings. Once you have chosen a position you should at least know what you are supporting. Try reading some books and using the brain that was so graciously bestowed upon you.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:33 pm
We already have Rush & Ann Coulter.
Would Beck be kind enough to stay out of Florida?
No commentary and no residence.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:45 pm
That would be a great ticket! How would liberals feel then when the Republican beat you to having an African American and a Woman on the same ticket? You will have to create some new false stereotypes about the Republicans that you can try to instill into the mentally weak and mis/un- informed.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:46 pm
I agree with Glenn Beck on one important point: the next President will preside over EITHER the end or a new beginning of our Country. Allen West goes further, stating that we could witness the end of Western civilization if the present trends continue.
Allen West understands you don’t compromise core values. He is a man of honor and courage. His positions are clear, and he doesn’t give a hoot about poll numbers. The world is discovering what many of us already know: Allen West is the real deal.
April 11th, 2011 at 2:51 pm
west is no more than a loud mouth, woman hating, discharged army war criminal.
April 11th, 2011 at 3:05 pm
There you have it. No better evidence of how misguided FL 22 was in their election of West.
He is championed by the lowest form of life in America: Glenn Beck.
April 11th, 2011 at 3:12 pm
Beck, like both West and Bachmann, is an extremist in the truest sense of the word, appealing only to a fringe element.
They are the equivalent of a right-wing Taliban, the antipode of fanatical muslim extremism.
This country needs balanced, middle of the road leadership, that appeals to the broader views of our variety of citizens and various political views.
Not leaders who appeal only to one small, extreme segment of the American citizenry.
In my younger days, I’d just label them as goofy whackos, and still be right.
April 11th, 2011 at 3:29 pm
mike, pull ur head out of your rectal cavity so you can see the light of day!!GENERAL ELECTRIC,(BLOW F’N BAMA’S HALIBURTON)PAYED NO TAXES & GOT ALL KINDS OF STIMULUS $$$$$$$.THE RICH, TOP 10% PAY 70% OF THE TAX BURDEN,THE MIDDLE CLASS & LOWER 50%, PAY 2%.IT’S TIME THEY PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!!You KNEE DROPPING *BAMA BAGGIN LOAD SWALLOWERS NEED TO DO SOME HOMEWORK!!
April 11th, 2011 at 3:52 pm
Fishymish speaks truth.
I am also proud of West as my FL-22 congressman.
Having listened often to Glenn Beck over the last few years in small excerpts on the radio while driving, he often has some good ideas and things to say.
Too often though he wildly jumps off the end of the board only to dive into a wacky foggy cloud of religious nonsense and silliness.
Don’t know why FOX has kept him so long?
To render a guess . . . the recovery program and course has not been completed?
April 11th, 2011 at 4:43 pm
I HOPE GLENN DOES RUN FOR PRESADENT BECAUSE I THINK (GOD)HAS HIS HAND AND HIS(ANNOINTING ON GLENN GO FOR IT !!!!

April 11th, 2011 at 4:44 pm

April 11th, 2011 at 5:17 pm
Matt is true representation of the locals.
April 11th, 2011 at 5:23 pm
They are more like a nightmare than a dream.
April 11th, 2011 at 5:28 pm
West has yet to prove any skill as a congressman. Bachman is much better prepared to be president than obama was.
obama 2012 GTFO !!!

West would have lost at Iwo Jima. Bachmann can’t even pronounce it.
So the world’s biggest media whore wants to annoint two fellow media whores to run the country. A gung ho soldier who has so far proved he can:
A) get press and
B) be angry.
..and that’s about it.
And a shrill, annoying woman so unbelievably out of her league at anything …other than maybe being one of those tyrannical moms at PTA meetings who thinks she’s right about everything.
There’s a great column by Dana Milbank in the Washington Post about the rise and fall of Glenn Beck. He’s made some disastrous, kooky, anti-Semitic decisions about his career in the last year or so. I have no doubt West and Bachmann will be joining him in a few years as members-in-good standing of the ‘What went wrong?’ club.
April 11th, 2011 at 5:40 pm
Beck is a very smart little con man, former addict, closet gay, front and center of the family values party. Thats funny.
April 11th, 2011 at 5:51 pm
Glenn Beck is probably one of the most crazy millionaires next to Trump that you will ever find, and this crazy SOB will say anything that represents or promotes the very very very extreme right.
April 11th, 2011 at 5:58 pm
Is it just me, or is Glenn Beck gaining weight and looking more and more like Rush Limbaugh?
April 11th, 2011 at 6:12 pm
Crabbie Jackie,
Bush made us a mess that will take 30 years to clean up. Beck is an unemployed alcoholic. West is a militia right wing nut..and Bachman, another Sarah Palin..and you must be listening to the same TV show.
April 11th, 2011 at 6:14 pm
Georgia Esker,
the men in the white coats are on their way to sedate you and place you in the rubber room
April 11th, 2011 at 6:18 pm
@matt- I think maybe you drank too much anti-freeze as a kid. You seem very unstable and out of control. Its also obvious that you are one of those teacher haters. Especially your math teacher. Your logic and your numbers just dont add up. Try again
April 11th, 2011 at 6:34 pm
Love this guy!!!! Allen West/Michelle Bachman would be a dream come true. He is so conservative and respectable.
April 11th, 2011 at 6:38 pm
WEST AND BACHMAN ARE RIGHT WING, BIBLE THUMPING, GUN TOTING, IMMIGRANT AND MUSLIM HATING, GOOSE STEPPING FASCISTS OF THE FLEABAG PARTY.
April 11th, 2011 at 6:49 pm
This country could do OH SO MUCH WORSE than electing a man like Allen West to the office of President. Case in point, the pathetic example we have there right now…
April 11th, 2011 at 7:24 pm
Who cares? This is a pure capitalist, opportunist, entertainer who has captured the money market of media…he is not a real person….he has no brain, no ideas, no talent, no contribution to society. Who cares?????
April 11th, 2011 at 7:39 pm
This would be a great ticket.I think they both are what we need.
I wonder what new insults the demoncrats would think of now that they can longer call the tea party a bunch a racists.
Doug
April 11th, 2011 at 7:44 pm
Hey JoseO, You are right my man, get your one way ticket outta here. We are TIRED of paying for all the FREEBIES.
April 11th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
METHINKS BECK IS BACK ON DRUGS AND THE SAUCE.
April 11th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
West and Bachmann? Nah, How about West and Scott? A thug and a crook, now that’s a ticket only the gop could love.
April 11th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
My daughter is 10, in 5th Grade.
I asked her “What’s the capital of New Hampshire?”
She says “Concord”.
I ask “Where did the the ‘shot heard round the world’ occur in the American Revolution?”
She says “Lexington and Concord, in Massachusetts”.
Knowledge-wise, my 10 year old daughter is far more qualified than Bachmann to be West’s VP running mate, and would be equally effective.
Yes America, West and Bachmann are the best and brightest that our nation has to offer to lead us.
April 11th, 2011 at 8:44 pm
Ok, I would be convinced that the world has lost their minds if this “dream” ticket ever exists!
April 11th, 2011 at 8:52 pm
Are there any leaders in America with Integrity, Honor and Loyalty to America…??? Only God knows we need one to get this Republic out of the depths of hell.
April 11th, 2011 at 10:11 pm
What is with West (R-Plantation)? When Bauchmann is (R-Minn)?
April 11th, 2011 at 11:21 pm
West & Bauchmann would make a great presidential team, good idea Glenn. I agree that the next U.S. President will begin to restore our nation or complete our nation’s destruction. For the U.S. to return to a strong position, we as individual citizens must become stronger morally and ethically as well as more independent of the government. Capitalism and Christianity made the U.S. strong from the beginning. Character counts!!
April 11th, 2011 at 11:21 pm
I’m happy to see someone with a megaphone the size of Glenn Beck’s promoting an idea I’ve been putting out there for months.
April 12th, 2011 at 4:24 am
Beck?! Goodbye! Mr. West would be better served with a running mate that has both feet on the ground instead of one in the mouth. Give Mr. West more credit than that, but consider the source.
April 12th, 2011 at 6:04 am
I am a big Beck fan, really, I am. Unfortunately, Beck needs to stick to the truth, which has no agenda, and stop the political prognostication. Sounds very LIB-DEM to me. Maybe his fame has gone to his head.
April 12th, 2011 at 8:25 am
I have a question for all the Obama fans that are on this blog. How does it feel to see Obama back most of Bush’s foreign policy decisions.
- Didn’t close Gitmo
- No civilian trial for KSM
- Continue war in Afghanistan
- Continue war in Iraq
- Starts a war in Libya
- Continues the Patriot Act
- Has his own Abu Gharib controversy (although much worse since civilians were actually KILLED)
And on domestic issues:
- Extends tax cuts to “the wealthiest Americans and companies”
- Spends us into massive debt
And there are many more similarities. I’m just curious, were you really against Bush’s policies or just against Bush.
Has the hangover kicked in yet?
April 12th, 2011 at 11:14 am
Glenn Back was like the “Chicken Littles” always saying that the “Sky is Falling”, like the same ones that were the “Chicken Hawks” (“W” Wars), big talk no courage. The United States, favors creativity wherever it can be found. We’re apostles of prosperity and defenders of the free exchange of ideas and when more people in more countries are free to rise, to invent, to communicate, to dissent, it’s not the doom of United States leadership, its the triumph of the American way. Generations have worked hard and sacrificed much for the country to reach this point (individuals and our unions!), and with further hard work and sacrifice (along with our relentless self-doubt) the United States will rise again, we do not tire and we are coming back, no matter what the “Chicken Littles” keep saying about our nation. Never Bet Against the United States!
April 12th, 2011 at 3:00 pm
If I was a staunch left winger, I’ say allIf I was a staunch left winger, I’d say all you West haters are just intolerant bigots, but I won’t stoop to that. They would but I won’t. I can say that I know the man personally and I admire his straight forward style, a refreshing trait. We may not always agree on everything but at least he says what he means and means what he says. Until the time that he gives me reason not to, he has my support and my vote. It may be too soon for a presidential run but it would be interesting. All the real bigots from both sides would have to stay home on Election Day. you West haters are just intolorant bigots
April 12th, 2011 at 3:02 pm
Sorry about that first sentence. That’s not what I wrote but the cyber goonies had other ideas.
April 12th, 2011 at 3:04 pm

DOES EVERYONE SEE WHERE COUNTRY IS , WE HAVE TO CLEAN UP OUR ACT & TRY TO HELP STRAIGHTEN OUT THE COUNTRY ALL TOGETHER OR ELSE WE ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE, MOST OF OF US ARE NOT HATERS BUT I SEE THE COUNTRY RUNNING SCARED BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING ON, WE PUT INTO PLACE A MAN IN THE WHITEHOUSE WITH NO EXPERIENCE , KEEPS GOING BACK & FORTH WITH HIS IDEAS, THE COUNTRY CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE, WE ALREADY HAVE VOTED INTO THE WHITEHOUSE BUSH & OBAMA, HAVEN’T WE LEARNED OUR LESSON YET,
April 14th, 2011 at 10:18 am
Allen West and Michele Bachmann are like the average “Joe Six Pack”, fun to watch but I would not follow them.
April 30th, 2011 at 2:00 pm
I see we have some Liberal Ass Clowns on here. They will vote for Bama again!
