Gingrich says Florida home to four potential 2012 veeps

by George Bennett | February 24th, 2011

WEST PALM BEACH — Former House Speaker and potential 2012 presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, arriving at tonight’s Palm Beach County GOP Lincoln Day dinner, says several Floridians could end up on the Republican presidential ballot next year.

“Florida has two and maybe three potential vice presidential candidates right now, maybe four if you count Jeb Bush,” Gingrich said. He mentioned Sen. Marco Rubio, U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation and Gov. Rick Scott.

Gingrich says he’ll announce his presidential plans within a few weeks.

Asked about Florida’s 2012 primary date, Gingrich said Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina should be the first states to hold 2012 presidential primaries or caucuses. After that, he said, “it’s up to Florida. At that point Florida has to negotiate with the RNC.”

The Republican National Committee wants Florida to move its primary from January to March.

Though tis way too early to tell now what is going to happen in 12, it is interesting to hear Newt’s take and extrapolations.

I am a conservative & not a damn one of these names are qualified. How about a little experience, amatuer hour has failed. Oh & Newt no RINOS need apply-that means you.

Newt I hope your people are reading these posts. You must be kidding right? None of them, with the possible exception of Jeb, are remotely VP material. I am a life long conservative Republican and have admired Newt for a long time. I considered him a front runner for my primary vote but after seeing him say this I must reconsider my position because Newt is not as bright as I thought he was and it seriously makes me reconsider his judgment. I really hope this article is a joke and Newt didnt really say this. If the three of them are VP material then God help the GOP. These three are as big of a joke as Biden is.

Forget Newt, West, Bush. FL would have to hold another election if Scott is chosen. It won’t be Scott.

Florida should give voice in the 2012 election. Let’s go Fifth in the primaries, March 5, 6, 2012!

What a crock of crap! This womanizer dropped from the public view when he got caught banging his sexitary and now he has become an elder stateman! Now he thinks the son of ole “HW” (New World Order) himself Jebbie the retard will make VP material! Can’t he see the Bush klan has been on the media pushing the public to draft Jeb for president! Moma “pearls” Bush saying Palin should staty in Alaska! “GW” hawking his book “how great I was, and forgive me for killing thousands of America’s smartest youth by sending them to the family oil wars!” After all Saddam Hussein insulted my dad! I hope “neutered” Getrich don’t think he’s going to have CharLIE Crist for a running mate! Obama’s already sucked him in for his VP!

  7. Nancy Says:

Newt, save this country! You will have my vote in 2012. It is about time that someone sees what is going on and is not afraid to protect the constitution and take action. Go for it!
