Cannon backing Haridopolos for U.S. Senate in 2012

by George Bennett | February 3rd, 2011

House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, is endorsing Senate President Mike Haridopolos’ bid for U.S. Senate in 2012, according to two people who heard Cannon speak to Haridopolos supporters today.

Cannon was on hand when Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, met with about 75 donors and supporters to discuss the Senate bid at the Airport Hyatt in Orlando today.

Haridopolos is one of several potential GOP candidates for the seat of Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. Former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner of Boca Raton, Delray Beach businessman and philanthropist Nick Loeb, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux and U.S. Rep. Connie Mack of Cape Coral are among the other possible GOP candidates.

  1. So long Says:

    Out with DO NOTHING NELSON

  2. monkeysauce Says:

Wow. Big deal there. That’s one way to clear the field.

  3. Birds of a feather fluck together Says:

These dudes are connected at the hip and don’t forget all the money they raised for McCollum. Don’t forget how Cannon retreived “his money” from the RPOF accounts when Jim Greer took a dive! Corruption kings still in change of the RPOF right under Rick Scott’s nose. So this Mike McCalister who says he’s running against Nelson claims he wore a wire and took down Jim Greer. Says he is working with Governor Scott and still trying to get more evidence against the corruption of Jim Greer. Sounds like all ain’t really sweet and well at the RPOF after all!

  4. Nope Says:

Maybe this will have the same effect on the grassroots as Dean Cannon’s endorsement of Gov. Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate over Marco Rubio.

How quickly we do not forget.
