One month into Rep. Allen West’s term, national Dems spending money to try to oust him in 2012

West
Freshman U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, is one of 19 Republican House members being targeted by a new Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee blitz of radio ads, automated phone calls and Internet advertising.
The DCCC is zeroing in on West’s membership in the Republican Study Committee, which calls for $2.5 trillion in spending reductions over the next decade by limiting non-security discretionary spending to 2008 levels.
Here’s the text of the radio ad: “Did you know Congressman Allen West has a plan to cut education and research by 40 percent that will cost hundreds-of-thousands of jobs and make America less competitive? Tell West to choose jobs.”
The 40 percent figure is based on a nonpartisan Center on Budget and Policy Priorities analysis of where spending would be in 2021 under the GOP plan compared to current levels adjusted for inflation over the next decade. For the jobs claim, the DCCC cites a recent radio interview by liberal Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.
Freshman Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, is the only other Floridian on the DCCC target list.
West got 54.4 percent to knock off two-term Democrat Ron Klein in November, but his Palm Beach-Broward District 22 was carried by Barack Obama in 2008 and John Kerry in 2004. New district lines will be drawn before the 2012 elections.
West responded this afternoon to the DCCC campaign:
“Not one month has passed since I was sworn into office and I have already cast several common sense votes to reduce spending. My decisions have received bipartisan support in the House of Representatives. However, the DCCC continues to use the politics of fear to try and convince the 22nd district of Florida that the status quo ruining our economy over the last four years is somehow acceptable. It’s not acceptable. I will continue to work in Congress to create jobs and reduce government spending fulfilling the promise I made to the residents of Florida.”

And the Post Times is aiding and abetting the democrats.
The jewish democrats want the seat back. Their democrat honcho, Alan Seigel has jews lined up to run.
One would think that there would be some minority democrats able to run against West.
It seems it’s a jewish seat!
Keep West in office. The jewish democrats will smear West, take words out of context and send out stories to degrade West.
Let’s see what he can do. Let’s hope redistricting doesn’t allow pockets condos of jew districts.
We have blacks, hispanics and asians who should be able to serve.
Where is Alcee on this?

So the only two Florida Republicans being targeted by the Democrats are targeting are West–a black conservative Republican–and Rivera–a Latino conservative Republican?
I can’t wait. In 2010, the Democrats tried to portray Allen West–a combat decorated Army officer with 2 Master’s degrees–as a gang banger by showing clips of West in a “doo rag”. I guess it’s not racist if the black man is a Republican?
I wonder what they’ll try in 2012.

The fact that West scares liberals just makes me want to contribute more to his campaign.
Do these folks honestly think the voters are too stupid to know smear when they see and hear it?

I love all these rich white teabaggers calling Democrats racist because we don’t blindly support minority candidates that don’t advocate for minorities.
Republicans harbor all the racists and would never denounce them as it is their base.

Dwane – Does the word hypocrit mean anything to you? Re-read your comment and tell me why someone who, supposidly, is NOT racist, would describe a Tea party supporter as “white” and the derogatory word “teabagger”.Then tell me again how you and your elite party are so squeaky clean. Oh I forgot “rich” since nobody poor is a supporter of the Tea Party.Seems to me you and your party are the FIRST to scream racist yet have a label for everyone – Hummmmmmm !

Hey! “TARGETED”? Liberals go banshee and hijack a situation to maneiver it to their own favor.. to co-opt the GOP becase the Left has no talent whatsoever to keep up with the Right. They launch an assault on speech THEY find offensive by tying it into a Tuscon situation the Right had nothing to do with. And this fact is becoming increasingly clear! Now WHO is using this term “TARGETED” in this article? eh?

Lucky Dog–
While it’s tempting for your side to pull out the race card because you’ve felt it’s been played on you regarding President Obama, it’s a false comparision.
Unless Mr. West’s detractors start making pictures of Mr. West wearing an African witch doctor outfit, or holding up signs calling him a “Lyin’ African”, or making baseless insinuations that Mr. West wasn’t born in this country, really there’s no comparision.
And while Mr. West (like Michael Steele did for a while, or like Clarence Thomas still does) may provide conservatives with an easy excuse for “We’re not racist!” (and admittingly for many, that might be true), the fact is it does not excuse those in the tea party ranks from having to address some of the disturbing showings of racism at their gatherings.

Hey “Pete” – Mr. West is also known as Colonel – that came from serving this country and not being ashamed of showing his birth certificate. When the head muslim stops acting like an african witch doctor we’ll stop referring to him as one.Until I hear him say Jesus is my savior, see his birth certificate and split a ham sandwich with him – he will always be the illegal muslim in the white house. No comparison to Mr West, they are absolutely totally different. nuf said !

I now know that none of you politicans want to hear from the people so take your next vote and stick it in your ear.

American Man–
Actually, you are wrong.
Mr. West “retired” (loosely speaking) at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He never achieved the rank of Colonel.
But you go keep up on the whole President Obama is a Muslim/foriegner/athiest/communist/African Witch doctor thing. It makes you tea partiers look oh so credible. Really, it does.
I will agree with you that President Obama and Mr. West are nothing alike. One of them likes to think before he speaks and despite the constant villainzation and mischaractarization of him as a far leftist, has time after time attempted to work with his opponents in a bipartisan and respectable manner (maybe a little too much capitulation at times, in my opinion, but still noble nonetheless.) In other words, a statesman.
The other is Florida’s congressional representative from District 22.

West will be ousted in the primaries by Adam Hasner. Wait and see.
