Scott opens TV campaign against – Obama?

by Michael C. Bender | September 3rd, 2010

Republican Rick Scott has cut a new TV spot that attempts to paint Demcrat Alex Sink as a tool of President Obama. Of course, both parties are desperate to win the governor’s office, which will play an important role in the 2012 presidential race.

But Scott’s newest ad is the latest indication that he sees a benefit in nationalizing the state race. He did much of the same thing in the Republican primary by making illegal immigration a central theme in that campaign.

We mentioned that Jennifer Carroll, Scott’s lieutenant governor pick, ignored 12 years of Republican rule in Tallahassee on Thursday by blaming the Democratic-controlled Congress for Florida’s economic woes. Scott tossed a line in his stump speech yesterday that Sink “believes in the socialist policies of President Obama.”

Today, in addition to news of the ad, Scott released a statement blaming Sink and “the Obamacrats” for the increasing number of out-of-work Floridians.

How about Florida’s republicant controlled Senate?

  2. Joe Bonano Says:

Florida’s legislature is full of Teatards and Republican’ts…so this just shows unwillingness to take blame for things and just attack someone else. Scott…you lost my vote!!! GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Jack Gillies Says:

Conservative Rick Scott will crush liberal Alex Sink in November. The conservative freight train had a few bumps (moderates) on the tracks in the Republican primaries, but the track is now clear. CONSERVATIVES NATION-WIDE ARE FIGHTING TO PRESERVE OUR CONSTITUTION.

  4. Max Says:

    Mr. Scott,
Your inflated ego has gotten the best of you and Republicans, Democrats, and Independents all agree on one thing — you will be the destruction of our state if you are elected!! The Republican party has lost all respect by supporting you in your quest for power.

It is the Democratic controlled Congress in DC that brought us to our economic condition of today. Think about it. The day the Dems took over (two years left of Bush presidency), the stock market was breaking records every other week, gasoline was 1.85 cents a gallon and unemployment was at its lowest in American history. Not one word fromt he Dem controlled Congress for two years. They never presented a bill or plan to Bush to sign.

Why are liberals always so angry?

Why do they not respect the flag?

Why do they hate the Constitution?

    Why…

This seems to be a valid point. Two weeks ago Obama came to Ft Lauderdale in air force one with his full staff. It was reported by all the local Tv and radio stations. Quoted it as a fund raiser and support for ALex Sink and her Democratic party’s up coming elections.

The president using taxpayers money for a personal trip to support his party, is this legal? When a local does this they loose there job go to jail etc. So what gives with this? Something to think about.

What more stupid excuses are left for Scott? Should he say that the FL GOP leaders, who first called him all kind of bad names but now are his best buddies, messed up Florida? First, the mess was already created when Jeb Bush left office. You can blame Obama for lot of things, but not for the mess the GOP leadership — especially his now best buddy Jeb – created here in Florida. I have voted Republican all my life, but I’m ashamed of what the FL Republican leadership did to the former Sunshine State. NEVER FORGET: REPUBLICANS HAD THE SOLE POWER IN TALLAHASSEE FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS! NOBODY ELSE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MESS FLORIDA IS IN!

  9. Tom Says:

So who’s worst??? I am so voting for Chris. He is the ONLY one admitting that both parties are useless for middle America. If you are rich or rich and in the health care industry vote for the other guys! If you are broke and wondering why things are so bad today, vote for Chris!

  10. Singer Island Says:

Talk about WHAT EVER IT TAKES. Scott is trying to buy a seat at the table with the guys he claims he’s against. Then he chooses a black woman to run with him so he can garner the black democrat vote! Let’s do WHAT EVER IT TAKES to keep SCOTT out of Tallahassee!!!

  11. joe six pack Says:

To those that think liberals hate the flag and constitution I guess you were happy with the warrantless wiretapping, people jailed for years without being charged, torture, war crimes, etc? Am I hearing you right?
I am liberal but respect your opinion. I love my country and my flag and am anti immigration to boot. We are all not the same.

  12. Jan Says:

Stop mixing up politics from Tallahassee and Washington. We are talking here Tallahassee politics — Scott is a candidate for Florida Governor, not for President or US Senate last I heard! Florida was called the Sunshine State — until Jeb Bush took over as governor. Now we have a bold guy who wants to be our next governor who has absolutely no self-respect. Why should he respect Florida’s citizens? You have to give him one thing: He works fast! Not even 24 hours after his victory speech where he ridiculed the Republican leadership and special interest who called him every name in the book, he crawled in bed with them, betraying all the good Republican voters who voted for him on his claim that he is independent from the career politicians running Tallahassee. He proved one thing: He can lie even faster than these career politicians! His actions show one thing: He would make a pact with the devil if that would help him to be Florida’s next Governor.

No Florida voter with any self-respect left can vote for a guy like Rick Scott. Shame on him!

Let’s get to work and make sure sure that he will not be Florida’s next Governor!

  13. howard Says:

This election is about FLORIDA where the Republican party has ruled both the Governors office and legislature lo these many years. The problems facing us in Florida are the direct result of these previous administration’s incompetence and self-serving. Scott would like us forget that and place the blame in Washington.

Don’t get blind-sided by Scott’s TV slander attacking Washington. He has no credibility where governing is concerned.

  14. Business people should have been rewarded to get back to nusiness and create jobs not billions in government projects Says:

The only jobs created by government is government jobs for friends and family members of the well connected! Obama has pumped dillions in stimilus into government projects and the crooked politicians and their kin folks have got those jobs! The average Joe is just shet out of luck for a job! Its going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets any better too! Right her e in Florida the problem is the organized corruption. Money is flying everywhere to crooked insiders. Honest people who don’t know anythng but try to find a job are homeless. Sad times right about now for good people.
