Rick Scott’s running mate evades immigration questions
by Michael C. Bender | September 7th, 2010Rick Scott’s TV campaign in the Republican gubernatorial primary focused heavily on making Bill McCollum appear indecisive on immigration issues.
But now Scott’s own running mate doesn’t seem to be up to speed on the topic. Asked whether she supports one of Scott’s top priorities — bringing an Arizona-style immigration law to Florida — Carroll said the two haven’t talked about the “nit-picky” details. It’s also unclear whether she knew what an “Arizona-style” law entails.
Carroll also says she hasn’t read the immigration bill from state Rep. Will Snyder, R-Stuart, who based his proposal on the Arizona law and the immigration debate that dominated the GOP gubernatorial primary and could tilt the November general election.

As a legal immigrant who Imigrated the right way I am COR AN AZ TYPE LAW IN FLORIDA ASAP. We need this in every state since ICE and feds will not enforce our laws to the letter.
I am sick of wasting this country and floridas resources and tax0 money to lawbreakers that so not deserve it, pay taxes or even want to asimilate as an american.
I AM VOTING FOR WHOEVER ENFORCES CITIZENS RIGHTS, LOWERS PROPERTY TAXES AND FORCES ALL DEPT TO BUDGET, SPEND WISELY AND LOWER CIVIL SERVANTS AT THE TOP SALARIES AND PENSIONS. NO MORE POLITICIANS WHO ARE COZY OR OWE PAYBACK TO UNIONS!!!!

We have two choices here! Support a successful business man with a top notch
running mate (both are Navay people) who will most likely do the right thing for the people or, vote to extend Obammy’s control of Florida with Sink being totally owned by the establishment! Hey! How os this Obammy thing working out for you? Are you better off today than you were just 2 years ago to? If the answer is no (an unless you are a drug dealer that is the answer) then join people with brains and vote for Scott-Carroll for Governor of Florida!

JQ you’re an idiot! STFU
September 7th, 2010 at 11:17 am
I agree 100% with Jose Guzman (comment 1) The first actions of an immigrant should not be to break the laws of this country, even if the Obama administration is not interested in enforcing those laws.

If she calls the immigration law “nit picky detail”, she is clearly not the one I want in office. Not that the Lt. Gov. position is one with any real power mind you. No one really ever knows who that person is. Just another method the GOP attempts to use to sway women and black votes. Still voting Democrat.

She was a maintenance mechanic in the military. Our military welcomes illegals, and gives them citizenship in return for service. Scott, you have a problem here!
September 7th, 2010 at 11:42 am
Yeah like we need one more idiot in office. Rick Scott: you blew it picking this one.
September 7th, 2010 at 11:56 am
A vote for Scott/Nitpickydetails is a vote for continued corruption throughout the State system!!!!!!!

Rep. Jennifer Carroll is not for illegal immigration in any manner; anyone who knows her knows that. Her statement the day after her selection for L.G. in the AP wire is very clear about that. This is a weak attempt at a gotcha moment. What intelligent person comments on legislation they have not read? Get used to saying it after Nov. 2: Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll

That’s what happens when you try & be slick. just because you get a sista does’nt get you a sista vote. Man up and stop crying about everything. Be like Nike’ & JUST DO IT.

Scott is right, Carroll is an outsider, I mean yeah she was in the legislature for 7 years, but if you look at the record of what she has done you to will agree that it was the same as her not being there at all. Vote for the outsider!
September 7th, 2010 at 9:32 pm
4:43, are you kidding? Carroll consistently votes the way Republican legislative leadership tells her to vote. She is very go-along-to-get-along, and that’s why she was selected. She does as told. Rep. Kevin Ambler and Sen. Paula Dockery filed Arizona-style immigration reform legislation long before Will Snyder. It just wasn’t allowed to be heard in the taxpayer-shafting Special Session on Nothing At All (especially oil drilling), at which the only thing voted on was to turn around and go home. Did Carroll vote to go home? Did she file for travel reimbursement for that wasted trip?

I find it odd and quite telling that all of those who believe that the AZ law would be of use here forget that since the 9/11 attacks, Republican Leadership closed no borders, performed no such attack on immigration and NOW, since there is Dem leadership and a Dem POTUS, NOW it is a HUGE ISSUE! The AZ law doesnt work, will not work and before all of you haters go nuts, remember WHO is going to bear the cost of all of this. WE ARE. The litigations will be cumbersome to PROVE that they are here illegally. Add to that, since you think it is a CRIME, they must be incarcerated, fed, clothed, treated medically and if found in violation of FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS, must then be processed OUT of the USA by FEDERAL AUTHORITIES, which bring a whole other issue into play, HOW? Hit hot button issues all you like, but the fact remains that this law and laws like it will be 10X more expensive.

Not for nothing, but she appears to be the African American version of Sister Sarah Palin, only with Military Service. Not a stellar voting record and nothing of note to her. I believe that Scott has stolen all he can from taxpayers in this state, dont allow him to steal your vote and your future.

SOME may think enforcing the immigration law is too costly…
THEY COST TO KEEP THEM IS HIGHER-MUCH HIGHER. TRILLIONS in aid, housing, food stamps, ssi, medical, schooling etc. need I go on??
IF we gave amnesty it would be for at least triple the low estimates they are trying to sell us on. AFTER THEY GOT THAT THEY WILL GET SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE??? WTF?
If you are not worried about social secruity going away or being reduced YOU SHOULD BE…First the FEDS USED IT SINCE THE JOHNSON ADM FOR THIER SLUSH FUND.
Now they want to put the nail in the coffin by giving them all OUR benefits they never paid into?? It is a proven fact they will NEVER make enough IF they work to even come close the what they cost us in their low service level jobs.
NO OTHER COUNTRY WOULD TAKE THEM SO WHY SHOULD WE?? THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS THEY ARE ILLEGAL AND FELONS. DEPORT THEM.
We cannot afford to keep them. You are worried about safety?? Bring back OUR OWN TROOPS AND GUARD OUR BORDERS TO KEEP TERRORISTS OUT.
WE HAVE TO STOP BEING THE WORLDS GUARD DOG. WE HAVE NOT REALLY HELPED ANYWHERE. THE WORLD TAKES ADVANTAGE OF US AND WE LET THEM.
FYI: Did you know Obama is giving 2 BILLON of our tax dollars for Oil rigs in Brazil?? double WTF? Who profits? Look in SOROS/Obama connection.

First of all, why worry about Scott’s running mate when he, himeself, is the biggest problem that Florida faces? I am an independent, so I dislike both parties and party partisanship that goes on in the legislature. The people that are elected to represent us do not, they simply represent the party. Is this really what we, the people want? How many dull, vapid, stupid, and self-serving political hacks are we Floridians willing to put up with? And Scott doesn’t have a clue about regular Floridians or the political process. His 7-7-7 plan has no basis in reality since the governor of Florida cannot make most of his “ideas” happen, only the legislature can.
And with regard to the immigration issue, my wife is a legal immigrant and naturalized US citizen. What she had to go through was daunting and often hard on us as a family, so I say to those people who feel that letting illegal immigrants come in come in and give them sanctuary, you might feel different if you or your family members had to do it.

Search 8 U.S.C. § 1325 : US Code – Section 1325: Improper entry by alien

willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or

Bill, this is the law, which essentially makes it a MISDEMEANOR to enter the USA. As for the trillions you say they cost now, quadruple it when we build MORE prisons to incarcerate misdemeanants and people who violate CIVIL CODE. They do have rights, by virtue of being in this country, every person has rights. It is one of the many things that sets up apart from other nations. No one wants to give anyone a pass, since most Americans came from immigrants and they worked hard to get where they are today. A great majority of these folks are minimum wage workers and we all KNOW that before the present economic situation, they got no more attention from you than the guy standing on the corner with a will work for food sign. Obama didnt break the system, it was in place long before he became POTUS. Hell, I didnt even vote for the guy. However, to lay the blame at the feet of so called progressives, liberals or whatever you want to call them is not only false, but disingenuious. Enforce the laws is what we are all entitled to. If a person is determined to be here illegally, then remove him or her, but do it under the law. Not as a result of some knee jerk reaction to a political argument. As I said before, Mr. Bush et al failed to close our borders after 9/11. They invaded the wrong country who had nothing to do with 9/11, yet still our borders remain porous. Want to blame someone? I am for solving the problem, but we are attacking a beehive with a stick pin.

This video is unbelievable! You’re not making this up, right? How can she not know about the Arizona law?
