Former VP Al Gore to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek in Tampa

by Ana Valdes | September 22nd, 2010

U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek today received the backing of a prominent fellow Democrat, after his campaign announced former Vice President Al Gore will rally for Meek in Tampa Sept. 30th.

“I am honored to have Vice President Gore visit Florida in support of my campaign. Together, we’ll show Floridians that there is just one candidate who will stand up for Florida’s environment and middle-class families in this state,” said Meek.

Gore, the Democratic presidential candidate during the 2000 election, will join Meek at a rally at Letter Carriers Hall in Tampa. Doors open at 4:45 p.m.

After today’s announcement, Gore joins a growing list of prominent Democrats nationwide who have publicly supported Meek’s campaign against Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running as an independent, and Marco Rubio, a Republican and former House Speaker.

Former President Bill Clinton has campaigned several times for Meek in Florida, and in August, President Barack Obama appeared with the candidate at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Miami Beach. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also recorded a phone message urging Democrats to vote for Meek.

The event in Tampa is open to the public, and tickets can be obtained by calling (877) 354-6335 or by visiting www.KendrickMeek.com/AlGore.  Tickets can also be picked up in person beginning Sept. 23 at Pinellas DEC Office, 2250 1st Ave. N, St. Petersburg and the Tampa Campaign for Accountability Field Office, 3009 W. Barcelona St., Tampa.

Sorry Kendrick but your own buddies in the legislature aren’t backing you. Algore’s support isn’t really something to be happy about considering he is a habitual liar, alarmist, and probably a serial ‘masher.
    Grasping at straws.

  2. Tampin it Says:

The SEX POODLE is in town!

Did he pedal his way to Florida or did he fly in on his private jet?

tsk, tsk, Al, wasting all that fuel.

    Where’s Al staying, massage anyone?

  3. Sooo Says:

So, a perverted wannabe weatherman is campaigning for an angry black guy? No thanks, I’ll vote elsewhere

  4. nemo Says:

    An inconvenience truth, ;)
Maybe he is a getting a liberal hand massage while visiting town and solicit FREE manual services from one of Meek’s masseurs

  5. Moderate Democrat Says:

    Not impressive.

  6. brigitte Says:

It does’nt matter who campaigns for Meek he’s still gonna lose. Al Gore probably has no life. Lol

  7. Susan in Broward Says:

I think Wexler’s potential endorsement would have more impact.

  8. Curious Says:

    What a joke!

How desperate could anyone be to ask that pathetic meathead Algore to bless him?

We have two major political parties, the Republicant’s and the Democrazies.

Fight Organized Crime — RE-ELECT NO ONE!

  9. RD Says:

Kendrick Meek getting the endorsement of Al Gore is one more reason to vote for Charlie Crist. I used to like Al Gore years ago before he got mixed up with the Clintons. Al Gore’s father (also a Senator from Tennessee) was a real statesman and a solid New Deal Democrat.

Sadly, Al Gore joined with Bill Clinton to sell out the working people of America and open our markets up to cheap foreign goods. This destroyed millions of jobs and now the economic growth is in China instead of the USA.

Kendrick Meek apparently sees Clinton and Gore as his political role models and also supports job-killing free trade policies. I urge all Democrats to reject these corporate Democrats and vote for independent Charlie Crist !

  10. Kay Says:

What’s wrong with Al Gore coming to be a responder on the travisty of an oil spill while helping someone out. Climate Change is a real threat to national security. We pay a trillion dollars to the middle east in petro-dollars and military dollars. Maybe if someone prominent drew attention to that people would stop all this desercration of the earth with hydrocarbons. God bless Al Gore nevermind his personal life. I wish I was running for something he could campaign for me. Go for it Kendrick!

  11. debbie the democrat Says:

Are you people crazy? If you are a democrat you dont vote for an independent that is still in a elected republican office. No wonder this world is falling apart. People dont have enough ass to be who they say they are. Going with the tide, it sickens me. Kendrick stands for what is right..and no Im not some poor ignorant low class welfare mom. I am a PROUD democrat that holds to the basic values this country was built on. Good, stay home and bitch or come help me change this country to what is was founded on, by my family 100′s of years ago.

  12. debbie the democrat Says:

Bottom line……if you are a democrat, a real democrat..if you have any ass about you…you will vote for Kendrick. What is wrong with people? You are that naive to think Crist is Independent? He’s in a republican voted Governorship. He is playing both sides and you cant do that when we are so polarized as a nation. Wow, you people are easily fooled. You arent Democrat….you are fickle! Contact me if you are so confused…I’ll show you how to volunteer instead of moaning around on the computer. Mark my words…Kendrick will win!
