UPDATE: Palm Beach County ballot mix-up

by Dara Kam | August 24th, 2010

UPDATE: More of the same ballot mix-ups are being reported in Palm Beach County and in Broward County, according to the state Division of Elections. There have been fewer than 10 instances reported in each county.

Oops. After the millions of dollars spent by GOP gubernatorial opponents Rick Scott and Attorney General Bill McCollum, at least two votes that could have gone their way won’t.

Two Palm Beach County Republican voters received “No Party Affiliation” ballots but reported the mix-up only after they had cast their votes, meaning they did not vote in the heated GOP primary.

The poll workers who handed out the wrong ballots were re-assigned, elections supervisor Susan Bucher said.

“I don’t know how this could happen,” she said.

Turn-out throughout the state appears to be light despite predictions of record-breaking voter participation.

These poll workers were trying to sabotage the election, no doubt.

  2. SAAAAHHHAA Says:

It’s because most poll workers are about 105.

Can our COunty do ANYTHING right? Seriously. It’s embarassing. If you don’t know what caused it, don’t reply “I don’t know how this could happen.” Instead, track every one of them, one by one and follow the trail and THEN report to us why no one can seem to run the Sup of Elections office in a streamlines common sense business fashion OR get a new job!

Give me a break Susan. You don’t know
how two votes were part of a mix-up-well
that’s Palm Beach for you. How do you expect people to trust that their votes
are recorded if the simpliest things can
create a stir. These two candidates are
the ones who lose out if the votes were
supposed to go to them. I may not be a fan of both but this is just so dumb. Your answer is to take away the responsibility from the poll workers-well gee you can’t put the horse back in the barn after the door is left open.

  5. Sick of calls Says:

I was sooooo SICK of the endless phone calls…my voicemail was full constantly because of the calls…I run a business through my phone!!!! Clients constantly telling me my mailbox was full!
Last night Greene called 2 times in 1 hour..I sent his campaign an email…
I was so sick of all the bashing and phone calls….I couldn’t bare to vote for any of them!!!!

  6. David Says:

    TWO ? only two ??
    That’s quite good actually.
It is the voter’s responsibility to pay attention !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the whiners – become a poll worker ( as I am )and you’ll have a better understanding of what goes on during an election.
