Voters can wipe themselves with GOP promises, House Dems say
by Michael C. Bender | July 20th, 2010His main contention is that Republicans are lining up behind a promise from incoming House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, that he will abandon his two-year-long attempt to lift the current drilling ban in state law. Democrats and Crist say the drilling ban is more secure in the state constitution, which lawmakers cannot amend without a vote of the people.
“Well my friends, let me tell you that I have an issue with believing what Republicans say,” Sands said. “They also said they weren’t going to raise our taxes. And yet we walked out of session a couple years ago with $2 billion in new taxes. So I have trouble believing them.
“To me, the pledges that the Republicans have taken are written on toilet paper,” Sands said. “And we all know what you can do with toilet paper.”
Florida lawmakers are in Tallahassee today after being summoned her by Crist, who wants legislators to put on the November ballot an constitutional amendment that would ban oil drilling.
If you need to catch up on the politics of this, here’s the background:
Today: With oil session set to begin Tuesday, Fla. House still has no hearings planned
July 15: Second oil session planned no matter what happens to drilling ban next week
July 8: Crist calls special session July 20-24 to put offshore drilling ban on Nov. 2 ballot

Mr. Sands,
No matter what your political views, or your personal enthusiams; there is no reason to be crude.
What would your Mother think?

There is no reason to be crude?! Are you kidding?! I’m glad to have a politician use a fecal analogy when referring to the process of politics in this state and/or country. The fact of the matter is that in this country fecal deposits increase the further one goes from being a citizen to being a politician.
I applaud Mr. Sands for getting it right! I only wish he had actually said “wipe your a**” instead of intimating this.
He’s managed to come the closest to representing the zeitgeist of the era; where one can’t mention feces without others crying when the reality is that feces should be insulted by being compared to the political process in this state and nation.

He makes a good point….you can’t believe this batch Florida Republicans. Not only did the R’s raise taxes, property taxes dropping like a rock was a flop.

Can Governor Charlie Crist tell the residents of Florida HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO HAVE THIS SPECIAL SESSION?
It costs US money. Charlie just ADDED to the tab he CONTINUES to charge us.

PAWNED
Republicans in the State House would rather risk looking bad on a no vote than changing their position.
Their perspective is that the backlash cannot adversely affect the few competitive races in the House enough to make a difference in terms of legislative leadership.
Republicans would rather Save Face, than do the Right thing for Floridians.
Call or write your congressman or woman and tell them you want a Vote on the House Floor on Oil Drilling Off our shores and you want them to vote for the moratorium.

They’re not going to ban offshore drilling for two reasons. Charlie needs it to get Democratic support from the White House and it will stymie growth in the state of Florida.
You see Sands, socialism is immoral and EVIL and House Republicans while not perfect people are not to hurt Floridians for political gain.
