Skidmore turns special session into a fundraising opportunity

by Michael C. Bender | July 8th, 2010

kellyskidmore-2010State Rep. Kelly Skidmore, a Boca Raton Democrat hoping to replace Jeff Atwater in the state Senate, quickly turned Gov. Charlie Crist’s call for a special session into a fundraising plea. Keep reading to see the e-mail sent to supporters today.

Today, Governor Charlie Crist called a special session on oil drilling for the week of July 20th. I am excited to get back to Tallahassee and pass legislation that will allow voters to ban oil drilling in Florida waters. However, Florida law requires that I suspend my campaign fundraising efforts during any regular or special session.

This a critical time for our campaign and I need your support like never before.

I am asking you to contribute today, so that I will have the resources to get my message out to the voters of Senate district 25 – the message that I am a fierce and effective advocate for the real issues that affect Floridians and that I am not afraid to fight the bad ideas and flawed public policies of the radical ideologues in Tallahassee.

I am the only candidate in this race who voted against the bill that would have allowed oil drilling within three miles of our shore.

My campaign continues to gain momentum every day, receiving the support of more and more community leaders, businesses, and voters. Help us keep the momentum going through the upcoming special session.

Kelly, this email is embarrassing. Please stop. I received it and will advise you again, you are in fantasy land.

  2. Mark Says:

Bogdanoff is going to wipe the floor with this woman. Can’t believe the Dems put her up in this race.

  3. This can't be true Says:

What candidate would do something this stupid ? Shame on you Kelly.

  4. Allyson Says:

Skidmore is a disgrace. She doesnt even live in the district. I can’t believe this is the best the party can put up against Ellyn Bogdanoff.

  5. Dog Says:

Big Freakin Deal! They all do it. As long as no checks come in during the session, it’s legal. Republicans are just more creative and hide it better that the Democrats.

  6. Wake up people Says:

Neither her or Domino live in the district.

  7. Simply put Says:

    Skidmore=Aaronson=Wexler=Obama

  8. Horrible Says:

If she doesn’t LIVE in her district, she is another Robert Wexler.

Too many democrats are MOVING into area, run for office, move away.

They CAN’T represent if they don’t EXPERIENCE your experience of paying LOCAL TAXES, INSURANCE, BOARDING UP FOR HURRICANES, SCHOOLS, VISITING AND SUPPORTING LOCAL MERCHANTS.

People who DON’T live where they are elected do not serve YOU, they serve themselves.

NO to ANYONE who abuses the system.

It started with democrat congressman Robert Wexler, who QUIT to make more MONEY $$$$$, sound familiar? in a “Middle East” Nonprofit (oh, really? read that “Middle East” as a jewish organization promoting only THE jewish agenda).

Keep American taxpayer money IN the USA and not sent to Israel.

  9. stuntmanmike Says:

Horrible: Charlie Crist is a supporter of the Jewish agenda. Sleep well.

  10. Greenie Says:

Kelly is a smart, principled working mom who will make a terrific senator precisely BECAUSE she understands the district and the challenges of everyday people. Kelly doesn’t like asking for money any more than anyone else, but it is a fact of life for every candidate.
