Scott says he’d turn down $133k salary as governor

by Michael C. Bender | July 23rd, 2010

Republican Rick Scott said this morning he would forgo the $133,000 salary if he wins the goveror’s office in March. Of course, the’s got to win his GOP primary first.

“No one’s asked me that, but it’s not that important to me, I’m not really doing it for the salary,” Scott said in an early morning interview with WOKV Jacksonville, a fellow member of the Cox Enterprises family.

Gov Elect! Did you every wonder why you have got so many cruel attacks?
Well! Like one of the previous bloggers describes Palm Beach County corruption, that’s only a start! No wonder Jeb Bush and his organized cronies don’t wnat you elected! You’d tear up their playhouse! They control the FDLE many of which are busy working their on private companies anyway, and will not allow any public corruption investigations! When cornered like with the Jim Greer debacle, they simply slow down for a moment, and throw one of their cronies under the bus! They they are right back to dealing and stealing! Every county in this state has its own political culture of corruption with a patronage man reporting to CharLIE Crist and cutting deals for appointments and annointments!
Gov Elect RICK SCOTT you have a big job cut out for you! We Thank You Upfront! God Bless!

Rick Scott is to be applauded (and elected) for his refusal to accept pay as Florida governor. I am not totally current on public events, so I don’t know whether members of the Palm Beach Town Council are paid. They used to serve without pay and were restricted on the gifts they could accept. It was great. Try to corrupt a commissioner with money when he doesn’t need it. It is conducive to honest legislation. If WPB is going to vote to change its charter, it should abolish pay for the mayor and commissioners.

Oh please!! Now he wants to buy his way in??!! Alex Sink is the only candidate with the “know-how” to help our state.

Rick scott or is it Rich scott? This guy is a multimillionaire. $133k is what people like him spend on a small vacation. Besides his cronies would pay that back to him multiple times in kick backs. Why else do people like him want to take office? This guy already has tax payers millions lining his pocket from all that Medicare Fraud (fact: 1.6B fined by fed gov).

  6. Val Says:

This salary is meaningless to him and would be like one of us turning down $10. Why not give back the money he stole from taxpayers? That’s because it’s worth millions! He says “government doesn’t create jobs, people do.” Sounds simple and good, until… So if and when that doesn’t work, what will he do? If his track record is any indication, when something doesn’t work for him, he leaves, and lets others clean up his mess. Thanks, but no thanks Mr. Scott.

  7. FURPOF Says:

I got an idea. I will Rip Off the State of Florida, and insulate myself from culpability; then give myself a golden parachute with enough $$$ to run for office, then get elected to public office where I can set up more opportunities to bilk the people of Florida without getting in trouble.
Where will I find people stupid enough to endorse me though?
Oh Yeah the Republican Party of Florida and Tea Partiers.

  8. Suzi Dill Says:

Trust me…he’ll spend much, much more on consultants and hob-nobbing.

  9. kate Says:

Rick Scott is making enough money off illegal immigration that he doesn’t need the paltry $133 k a year. Check out EMIDA, a company that allows illegal immigrants to send their cash out of the country ever so easily. Cash that they’ve made here but haven’t paid taxes on! Yes, Rick Scott provided venture capital for this little endeavor! This is one Florida citizen who isn’t buying into Scott buying the governorship of my state!! See ya, Scott!!

  10. RealAngst Says:

Of course he turned it down. We already PRE-PAID him 300 MILLION of OUR dollars. Wake up people.
