Post editorial board endorsements: Burkert, Merchant in Florida Senate primaries
by Michael C. Bender | July 30th, 2010From the Palm Beach Post editorial board today for the Senate District 27 primaries:
Dems: Peter Burkert over Kevin Rader
Rep. Rader argues that the free market will resolve the state’s insurance crisis. That solution is likely to cost Floridians more and help Rep. Rader’s finances. He has raised $225,000, with about a fourth of the $42,000 he raised in the last quarter coming from the insurance industry. Mr. Burkert, who has raised $151,000, would have opposed the State Farm Bill and more sharply regulated “pups,” Florida-only subsidiaries that use state losses to justify rate hikes solely for Florida ratepayers.
GOP: Sharon Merchant over Lizbeth Benacquisto
Like most Republican candidates, Ms. Merchant says her opposition to the federal health care law is to keep Washington from encroaching on personal freedoms. But unlike most Republican legislators, she sees the hypocrisy if the state forced unnecessary ultrasounds on women seeking abortions. Ms. Benacquisto supports the ultrasound requirement, which Gov. Crist vetoed.

Benacquisto is better than Merchant.
PB Post again finds the weakest republican to endorse.
Merchant can’t cut it.
As for Rader, forget about him…the usual tax and tax and spend and spend democrat who will usher in MORE REGULATIONS, RESTRICTIONS and TAXES for Floridians.
Democrats ALL SUPPORT Obama’s Edcuational plan, RAce To The Top, which WILL federalize education and only give states money for a yr or two..but the State MUST do what Obama’s plan says!
Stoopid to vote for democrats!

Bequisto is a joke. Her and her dog she brings to meetings! Another puppet whose strings are about to be cut because Merchant is going to win!
Seriously!

Merchant is a joke. She’s trying to profit on her last name.
Benacquisto has worked to get parks, protect our environment.
Merchant…using her name, nothing more.
Benacquisto is the NEW republican, Merchant leftovers from the past who seek to use their name to advance themselves.
What the hell has Merchant DONE?
Benacquisto can show what she has advocated for not, Sharon Merchant.

Too Funny-
Uhh…what do you mean Merchant profiting from her last name? That literally makes no sense.
What has Merchant DONE?
You mean besides actually have a record of CUTTING taxes and not raising them? Of working to protect Florida’s wetlands and not destroying them?
Of limiting the size and scope of government?
Clearly you are not at all familiar with Merchant’s House record. Or Benacquisto’s Council record, for that matter. A cursory inspection of both will tell you who the real conservative in this race is.
Pull your head out of your ass and do some real research, stop listening to propoganda from Tallahassee’s status quo loving good ole boys!
