Meek to join Obama at August event, White House says

by George Bennett | July 31st, 2010

Democratic Senate hopeful Kendrick Meek won’t be shut out when President Obama visits Miami for an Aug. 18 fund-raiser, the White House says.

“Save-the-date” notices for the event list Obama and Democratic governor candidate Alex Sink as “special guests” but don’t mention Meek.

“Congressman Meek will be joining the President at the August event,” a White House spokeswoman told The Palm Beach Post late today. There was no immediate word on what the “joining” will entail, but details of presidential visits are usually kept under wraps until the last minute.

Obama has endorsed Meek, but U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings and other Meek backers have been pressing the president to publicly show support for Meek, the party establishment favorite who’s in danger of losing the Aug. 24 Dem primary to late-arriving, big-spending Palm Beach billionaire Jeff Greene.

Presidential appearances on behalf of a candidate in a contested primary are rare but not unprecedented. Obama appeared with Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter in May before the Keystone State’s Democratic primary, but it was no magic bullet for the party-switching incumbent. Specter lost to Joe Sestak.

An angry black guy joining an even angrier black guy. Sounds fun

  2. Not representative Says:

Wow, Obama can name the white woman who will be attending, but can’t name the black guy who’s attending!! Too funny!

It’s all about the S FL jewish cabal.

Why do you think Jeff Greene is running..he’s a billionaire jewish guy, who ran as a republican in California, lost; and has now been drafted by the jewish community to run against the black guy. The jewish community can’t afford to lose S FL and won’t give it up to a black guy nor a latino.

Are there more jewish people in S FL or latinos or blacks?

This is all manufactured by the democrat jewish machine ..Rahm Emanuel, Chuck Schumer, Robert Wexler.. to keep S FL in the clutches of the jewish people rather than the true population of the area.

Don’t vote for Greene. Don’t vote for Crist. They are BEHOLDEN to a religious group that seeks to dominate Florida politics..and they are low in numbers compared to other groups.

Vote for Meek or Rubio, who represent the new Florida, not for the white jewish billionaire or the white/suntanned Crist. They serve the same master. Charlie has sold his soul. He is only out for himself. Shameful. But we should have known when he took a photographer on his European jaunt that cost FL taxpayers too much money during this econmic downturn.

Great, you sound like the angry one.

  4. S. Levy Says:

    Connie, so do you!

  5. dick Says:

It’s the kiss of death from independent voters. Means nothing to the far left, illegals and Jewish voters who would vote for a “yellow dog” if they ran on the Demo ticket. Sad

  6. Caren Says:

Maybe someone should point out the obvious.

Hey Wexler tell your boy Johnson to stop running Crist campaign while Ring’s boy & girl are running Green’s

Yes it comes back to PB County screwing up the elections for their own pocketbook…poor people that vote their.

  7. Felice Says:

I can’t wait until 2012 when we can get a Democrat to run against the schmuck in the WH now.

It is not because he is black its because he is clueless just like Bush.

  8. Joe Alvarez Says:

Obama and Meeks should go back to Africa. They do not know how to run a country, both are corrupt.

  9. True Blue Says:

Meek will be hauling the President’s luggage – that’s why his name is not on the invites.

Momma can’t hand over this seat.

  10. Politically Disgusted Says:

Considering how well Obama’s endorsement worked in NJ/MA/VA, if I were Meek I would say “No thank you Mr. President, you are toxic!” But then again it is one brother looking out for the other!

  11. Ollie Koala Says:

This is the 10th anniversary of florida’s election debacle during the presidential race.

Of course Florida is up for the challenge of commemorating this by voting for a bunch of dimwits who have decided to spend millions of their own money just to be a senator or governor.

Hopefully Florida won’t make a fool of itself again.

  12. Revolution Says:

You will not have to worry about a 2012 election and electing one corrupt party or the other.

There will be a massive REVOLUTION before that happens.

8-28-2010 Massive protest being held at the Lincoln memorial.

So far well over 500,000 are attending.

November 2010, March on Wasington, over 5 Million lookinto attend. The last one was 2 1/2 Million.

You all better get off your buts and start protesting before ALL of you are jobless and Homeless.

    VIVA LA REVOLUTION.

  13. ELC Says:

I would think that having Obama would be
the kiss of death now to anyone running
for political office. As for So. Fla.yes
the old biddies who are Jewish know one
lever and that’s Democrat. However, I
feel angry that I have no clear choice
in November to vote. As a now registered
Independent(formerly a Dem), the field is filled with misfits and there is no one out there with a brain in their head. Oh!by the way I am also Jewish and
very proud of it so stick it.

  14. OOPS Says:

As of January 20, 2011, A republican will be Speaker of the House.

    Think about it….
