Bipartisan jam: Reps. Deutch, Rooney play with Micky Dolenz of The Monkees on Capitol Hill
by George Bennett | June 24th, 2010Local U.S. Reps. Ted Deutch, D-Keyboards, and Tom Rooney, R-Drums, joined Micky Dolenz of The Monkees on Capitol Hill Wednesday in a performance of the Neil Diamond-penned Monkees hit I’m A Believer. That’s U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley, D-N.Y., on guitar.
Dolenz was promoting the Performance Rights Act, which would force radio stations to pay royalties to musicians for playing their music.
Deutch proves himself a capable genre tourist, handling the mid-1960s pop sound here after also accompanying a Delray Beach band on the bluesy Bo Diddley standard Before You Accuse Me back in April.
Here’s a clip of Dolenz plugging the bill and introducing the band….

This is good fun! I applaud Representative Deutch, not just for his performance, but for having a multitude of interests and talents. Go Ted Go, then keep working on the issues that the people of District 19 hold dear. You’re off to a great start!

Well, that sort of closes the loop. Long gone are the days when the promoters of records often paid (Payola) radio stations to play their records to stimulate demand. Now they want the radio stations to pay them to play (promote) their product. sheesh…..

Deutch=continuation of Robert Wexler and the jewish cabal in S FL at the expense of latinos and blacks.
The jews are throwing the afro american democrat senatorial candidate, Meek, under the bus. They attack and degrade the candidate’s mother.
It’s their way or the highway. They NEVER admit when they are wrong and ALWAYS say they are ‘the chosen’.
No group, religion or people are ‘the chosen’.

I, too, believe in the Fair Pay For Airplay Act; and, agree that it should be passed!

If this is passed you can say goodbye to radio stations and if you happen to be lucky enough to live by a college station that plays music you might not otherwise hear, you can certainly forget about that station.
Oh, and Grey – you are both ignorant and obnoxious. Go crawl back under your rock.

Does this mean that everytime someone clicks our videos on youtube that we should get paid…its just one more way of getting paid like when tv airs the repeats over and over again. the actors get paid
