Dem strategist says he got Wexler’s ‘blessing’ before signing up with Crist

by George Bennett | May 24th, 2010

Eric Johnson, longtime political adviser and chief of staff to former Democratic U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, says he’ got Wexler’s “blessing” before taking a job last week as a consultant to Republican-turned-independent Gov. Charlie Crist’s Senate campaign.

Wexler, now heading a Middle East think tank, has stayed out of the Senate race.

Read about it in this week’s Politics column.

With this news of the top Jewish politician in south Florida blessing his minion’s working for Crist, does anyone still wonder whether the Jewish vote will get steered to Crist?

So the unwillingness of these Jews to support the black Democratic candidate morphs further into the beast of racism.

Black voters should take notice and withhold their votes from any Jewish statewide candidates in November.

whasup: What are you talking about? Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is the top Jewish elected official in South Florida and she endorsed Kendrick. So what are you talking about? Kendrick has not reached out to these voters in NW Broward & SW Palm Beach Co. Kendrick has taken them for granted and Charlie would be very smart to go after those votes. It’s not just Democratic Jews who aren’t going to vote for Kendrick, and it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. Its the content, of which Kendrick has little to none, making Charlie my choice, and many other Democrats, including those you mentioned. Kendrick is just not a viable candidate, as shown in poll numbers, where he can’t break 20%. He’s even losing to Charlie amongst Democrats statewide. Wexler has stayed out of this race, and just bc Eric went to work with him, doesn’t guarantee anything in terms of votes. However, he does know that area better then just about anyone, and can help Charlie do very well there. This has nothing to do with race, and it’s ridiculous that you would bring that up, considering all those Jewish voters, just voted for Barack Obama 2 years ago. What more proof do you need that race has nothing to do with this?

    . . . . birds of a feather flock together . . . .

  4. Henry Sadow Says:

Good point John. Didn’t Wexler get attacked by many Jewish supporters for his early and enthusiastic backing of Barack Obama in the Presidential race? Now Wexler and his strategist are racist two years later for not supporting Meek? That is ridiculous and unfair.

  5. Hillary Says:

They are not racist…they are self-hating.
A Jewish Congressman who “step down” for a middle east think tank. Wexler was never known to be a expert on middle east policy (only to himself). Eric, a self hating gay political figure(who is not even smart) who is helping Crist & Greene.

The Republicans suck but the Democrats are whores too. It’s funny how they are using Deutch to cover him before Wexler went down.

    Becareful…there is that paper trail
