Poll fallout: Klein camp calls West a Palin puppet, West camp sees Klein ‘desperation’
by George Bennett | April 26th, 2010
- West
- Klein
- Palin
“Voters in Florida’s 22nd congressional district will have the opportunity to compare Congressman Ron Klein’s record of fighting to protect Medicare and Social Security, creating Florida jobs, and fighting for veterans, to the extreme rhetoric and positions of Allen West and his out-of-state puppet masters like Sarah Palin,” said Klein campaign spokeswoman Sarah Rothschild.
“While Allen West is focused on a poll for the November election, Congressman Ron Klein is working every day to stimulate the economy and on bipartisan solutions that will protect Florida homeowners, crack down on Medicare fraud and impose tougher sanctions on the rogue regime in Iran.”
West campaign manager Josh Grodin offered this take when the poll was released:
“This survey shows that how out of touch the politics practiced and preached by Ron Klein in Washington have become with the citizens of Florida’s 22nd Congressional District. He is clearly in trouble, so I’d be expecting desperation to become an overall theme of his campaign.”

Right on Suze!!!! Seth is the extreme left wing radical filled with anger. Just look at what he wrote. The racism points to the left. I am tired of hearing this from the left all the time.
My vote is for Allen West! It is time for change in the right direction……
April 26th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
BTW, I have no affiliation to the Klein campaign or the Jewish religion. I am a WASP descended from the forefathers of our Country. I just despise the principles WEST spews THAT MUCH.
BTW real ‘PATRIOTIC’ to continually bitch about taxes while we are engaged in a dual warfront started by conservatives, and trying to pull ourselves out of the worst economy in decades also caused by conservatives.
BUSH grew our deficit and our Government more than anyone, so aim your angst in the right direction.
YOU CANNOT HIJACK THIS ELECTION WITH YOUR MISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN.

Methinks soon to be ex-congressman Klein is in panic mode. Looks like he is even replying to blogs.
April 26th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
It is clear from these comments the kind of campaign the democrats are going to run. The polls are showing that 31% of the district has a negative view of Ron Klein (vs 8% for Allen West) The reason has nothing to do with race or religion. At its core, this is not a “progressive” district, and on the larger issues of the day (health reform, cap and trade, “big government”) he is no friend to South Florida. I’d really like to hear the two gentlemen debate the issues, but if the last year is an indication, Mr. Klein doesn’t like to come out in public.
April 26th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
This article is yet another reason why I pulled my subscription of the Post in print. Every single article is negative. Don’t you run numbers over there as to why PB Post is having such a hard time? Aside from some readers going virtual, every single article is so biased, it’s beginning to reflect on your subscription. Maybe you should take a look at why the Wall Street Journal is GROWING in numbers. Let go of your current Liberals and put in some balanced writers.
April 26th, 2010 at 7:42 pm
How can Ron Klein claim to be a “representative”? He doesn’t have the courage to debate Allen West! Why? Because Klein knows West is right on all the issues. Also, Klein doesn’t have the courage to hold a public town hall meeting – open to everyone! He can’t “face the music”.
KFC = Klein Fearful Chicken.

As always, you wonder where this patriotism and righteousness and Tea Party activism was during Bush-Cheney. You wonder if all the people who want to take to the streets – and to the television cameras now – decided they weren’t needed for eight years because they thought the country was going so good. Or maybe they have just convinced themselves that the Obama who must now be stopped didn’t just inherit this America, he created it.
This is no longer about political dissent. It is about storm trooper sound bites, and hate. This isn’t the kind of honest debate on which our system of government has been built. It is vile, back-alley fighting, getting worse by the day, with no end in sight. People say that opposition to all Presidents, even the most unpopular white ones, sounds like this. No, it doesn’t.
Palin is such a fighter and great American that she quit on her stool as governor of Alaska because there was more money to be made in the other 49 states, shouting about death panels and health care and “European socialism” and writing unreadable books. In so many ways, she is a perfect media darling for our times. She doesn’t scrawl graffiti, she thinks in it.
Will a bill be presented to my children and their children on this bill someday? It likely will be. And economists say that Iraq will eventually be a $3 trillion war for this country. But all those who have taken to the streets because of the bill that Obama signed the other day must think that Iraq has paid for itself, no matter how much money it continues to cost this country, how many dead or broken bodies.
April 26th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
@Johno
You want to do something patriotic? Stand up for the Bill Of Rights.
April 26th, 2010 at 8:08 pm
Lefties, West is not anyone’s puppet and Palin is no one’s master. That concept only applies to the democrats in congress, the President and the special interest groups (too many to count). We understand this is all new to you, but this is what real Hope and Change looks like. Go West. And of course, Go Palin Go. She’s doing a fantastic job isn’t she? …Now, don’t get too bent out of shape
April 26th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
It is laughable that Democrats were criticized because they couldn’t get it together. Then they receive a clear mandate from the public and when they follow through on that mandate and plan, and they are criticized for sticking together. Democrats capitulated many points in all the legislation passed to appease conservatives but there is no concession. I refused to let wingnuts hijack the political debate with and be the loudest voice in politics. How do you expect people to react to the kind of vile and violent rhetoric being lambasted all over the media by West and his followers. Conservatives need to look inside themselves and ask what really motivates their actions. I know what motivates mine, standing up to you, and looking out for the little guy under your thumb.

As a scientist, I cannot begin to describe the revulsion I experience when I listen to anyone inform me that “dinosaurs are 6,000 years old” or “the jury is still out on that whole evolution thing”.
I guess, part of that reason, is that my IQ is probably 70-80 points higher than Palin’s or Bush’s.
But, the point here is about Palin and her accomplishments. I guess who are discussing:
* Used state resources to relentlessly pursue a family vendetta
* Took per diem as governor while sleeping in her own bed
* Took her kids at state expense on official State of Alaska business trip
* Lashed out at socialized “death panel” health care while her family was covered by socialized “death panel” health care
* Enjoyed socialized health care in Canada when she growing up and needed it
* Left midterm as a Mayor and left midterm as a Governor.
April 26th, 2010 at 9:09 pm
Members of the Party of No are livid because their gravy train has come to an abrupt halt with the Obama administration. But no matter how hard they try and how loud they scream, their tantrums will not get them what they want. They couldn’t win the special election against Ted Deutch and they won’t win against Klein.
The Party of No members threw bigger tantrums and made bigger threats when Obama was campaigning and what did it get them? It got them wiped out of office. Reasonable minded citizens do not want to be associated with a group of people who obstruct progress just for the sake of obstructing nor do they care to associate themselves with people who demonstrate violent tendencies via hate speech or demonstrations.
This is not the same as fighting for independence from British rule. Face it folks your style of governing for the last eight years turned out to be the worst ever and you want another chance at it? Keep dreaming. Your wet dream will not become reality.
Just look at what the Party of No controlled legislture in Florida has done to the state. They screwed it up. In other words they left it FUBAR. Don’t trust them and don’t listen to them.
VOTE KLEIN!!!

NOT TRUE – IF YOU ARE REFERRING TO THE TROOPER, PLEASE CHECK THE FACTS.
* Took per diem as governor while sleeping in her own bed
THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION WAS BEING REPAIRED AND SHE ONLY DID LESS THAN ANY OTHER GOVERNOR DID. I GUESS SHE COULD HAVE STAYED AT A HOTEL AND SENT THE BILL TO THE STATE. IT IS A DOCUMENTED FACT THAT SHE SPENT LESS MONEY THAN ALL OF THE PREVIOUS GOVERNORS.
* Took her kids at state expense on official State of Alaska business trip
THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DEBUNKED AND SHE PAID IT BACK EVEN THOUGH SHE DID NOT HAVE TO.
* Lashed out at socialized “death panel” health care while her family was covered by socialized “death panel” health care
AS AN ALASKAN NATIVE, HER HUSBAND AND HER CHILDREN ARE COVERED JUST LIKE ALL THE REST OF THE ALASKAN NATIVES. AS FAR AS I KNOW THE ALASKAN NATIVES DO NOT HAVE A PANEL STATING WHAT MEDICAL CARE SHOULD BE GIVEN, SO YOUR STATEMENT IS ERRONEOUS
* Enjoyed socialized health care in Canada when she growing up and needed it
AS A SCIENTIST, I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT YOU WOULD HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN STATED THAT NOT ONLY WAS IT HER BROTHER, BUT THAT AMERICANS RECEIVING CARE IN CANADA AT THAT TIME HAD TO PAY.
* Left midterm as a Mayor and left midterm as a Governor. SHE DID NOT LEAVE MID-TERM AS MAYOR, THERE WAS A TERM LIMIT. AS FAR AS THE GOVERNORSHIP, WHEN SHE WAS BEING IMPEDED AT DOING HER JOB EFFECTIVELY, SHE DID WHAT WAS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF AK NOT TO MENTION THE MYRIAD OF UNSUBSTANTIATED ETHICS COMPLAINT (ALL FOUND TO BE WITHOUT MERIT) THAT CAUSED HER TO INCUR OVER $500,000 IN LEGAL FEES.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU READ AND NOT FOLLOW THE GRAPE KOOL-AID DRINKERS.
ANYWAY, THIS IS ABOUT ALLEN WEST, NOT SARAH PALIN.

Freedom isn’t free
The men and women in our armed forces, may be called, at any given time to make the ultimate sacrifice, to preserve the freedom our Nation.
In civilian life the cost of freedom is tolerance.
Is tolerance to much to ask of our citizens?
What if the citizens of our nation, had been so divided into right versus left, and blue versus red during WWII?
Would our official language be Japanese or German?
We the people have an obligation to our servicemen and women to protect and preserve thier homeland, when they are deployed on active duty.
Reaching a consensus by working out the best plans, legislation, inclusive of the very best ideas and knowledge, both both sides assures that we all have justice and fairness.
Public servant used to mean something!
That the best and brightest, That the most upstanding people were sought out, or veiwed service to the City,State, Federal government as an honor, and a crucial responsibility, to those they represent!
After all we name streets, highways, bridges, parks and schools after them, because they worked hard to deliver what is best for our country.
In modern times, it seems it’s this faction or that faction, Intelligence and Bipartisanship, working together to provde the best of both worlds has served us well for over 234 years!
Are we all so self interested now, that when we elect our representation, The ability to Trash talk, and outspend the opposition is all thats needed or desired?

Former Congressman Ron Klein.
Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it.
Remember when Klein refused to attend any meeting with his constituentes in person and instead hid behind his telephone conference call scheme? I knew then he was finished!
Alan West is a true patriotic, conservative American and deserves our full support. Excuse me while I go make a contribution to the West campaign….
April 27th, 2010 at 12:01 am
I believe those “types” of contribution are best done at a sperm bank.
April 27th, 2010 at 1:24 am
Klein has done nothing but vote to destroy your rights, make government into the police state everyone who has ever come to America left to be free. As for Social Secruity give me a break. There is no more money there that is why they are calling in there debts with the US goveronment. The illegal alien obama used what was left of the cash for a fake stimulas plan. Nothing of that money actually was used to rebuild inferstructure. He never stood up to stop it. Instead he help pass the GIVE ACT last year. People really need to read it if they dare. This act makes sure all you kids get finger printed, get put into a tracking system that the government is now creating and created a NAZI SS verion called a national secruity force with unlimited resources and more money than you military.
So by a landslide I will take anyone who will stand up, not be afraid and say NO that freedom is more important than life itself because life is not worth living when you live in a slave state that Klien is helping to create. West will stand up with us and Klien has already passed legistation to kill us.
Winner West
Loser Klien

I see my old friend Seth Platt – a Organizing for America kook and Ron Klien plant has nothing but racist condemnation for Floridas soon to be new Congressman Allen West.
I knew when the polling showed West competitive you would show your true racism
thanks for not letting me down Seth.

Mr. Zist –
Thanks for confirming my suspicions as well. Reading the article Bennett wrote about the poll you mention above will yield a “discussion” I’ve been having with Seth in the blog section.

This is YOUR TEA PARTY. If you challenge their candidate, you are a racist. YOU FOOLS. It is quite well known I am no racist. YOUR CANDIDATE IS THE RACIST who uses incendiary language and disparages Muslims. There is only one thing I have complete disdain for and it is the likes of you.
Again no affiliation with Klein, I just don’t like WEST.
Mark Zist is a libelous troll.
April 28th, 2010 at 8:36 am
That’s the same thing you called me on your Google blog — a libelous troll — and when I responded to it, you had my response removed. I guess you’re good at dishing out the hate, but you can’t take it when it gets directed at you. You like yourself too much to have others read that kind of stuff about you.
A troll is someone who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. I direct your attention to post #1 at the start of this blog. All of the things that you posted “ALLEN WEST =” are lies. That makes YOU the libelous troll.
You are too proud to realize that you are also the butt of a joke here. Mark and I are calling you a racist because you are disparaging a black man. When Mark and I disparage the ideas and policies of Obama, or the likes of Alcee Hastings, we are called racists by the likes of you. Sucks to have your core beliefs attacked and countered with names and slanderous bullying, doesn’t it?
Still waiting for those FACTS and LOGIC you promised before. . . . . must be too busy trolling for more articles on conservatives to throw bombs at.

Allen West, a retired Army lieutenant colonel who served in Iraq and as a military contractor in Afghanistan, said repeal (DADT)isn’t a good idea.

West fired his pistol near the head of the prisoner, threatened to kill him, and allowed his troops to beat the man.
No plans for attacks on Americans or weapons were found. Colonel West testified that he did not know whether “any corroboration” of a plot was ever found, adding: “At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It’s possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi.”
West was found guilty of three counts of aggravated assault and a single count of communicating a threat. The ruling was issued after West pleaded guilty to misconduct.

WEST tweeted this week: @GovBrewer I stand with The Governor, The Legislature, and The People of Arizona in their efforts to enforce immigration laws #arizona #tcot

Religious ZEALOT, these versus directly disparage Muslims and Arabs, may be deemed racially intolerant. taken from his campaign website.
Genesis Chapter 16, verses 11-12 states, “And the Angel of the Lord said to her (Hagar): Behold you are with child, and you shall bear a son, you shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has heard your affliction. He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against everyman, and every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”
Ishmael of course became the beginning of the Arab people….and God’s word is immutable truth.
In closing, there are battle lines clearly drawn, I know where I stand, and that is to support the State of Israel. The lessons of history have been learned by me and I offer one simple retort, “Not on my Watch”.

West’s case actually began and ended as a criminal proceeding. The Army filed criminal charges against him, an article 32 hearing was conducted at which West admitted wrongdoing, and ultimately he was fined $5,000 for misconduct and assault and then allowed to resign from the military. The Army concluded that his actions were criminal and that “his crimes merit a court-martial.” Had West been prosecuted and convicted, he could have faced as much as 11 years in prison, a dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of pension and benefits.
May 2nd, 2010 at 12:41 pm
West did commit crimes. His case not only began as a criminal proceeding, as Pincus notes; it ended with a finding that his actions were criminal. He avoided prison only because powerful members of Congress intervened.
May 2nd, 2010 at 12:41 pm
And what became of Allen B. West? He was lionized by right-wing talk radio and named the “Man of the Year” by FrontPage Magazine, a vehicle of radio talk jock David Horowitz. He lost his career in the Army and instead emerged carrying the banner of the GOP, which nominated him as its candidate for Florida’s 22nd congressional district (Broward and Palm Beach Counties). West lost in 2006 and again in 2008, but fared better than Republican candidates generally do in a heavily Democratic district. West is now preparing a third run for the congressional seat in 2010.
This suggests that the message that torture enablers really draw from the West experience is this: Political cards played deftly will foil the impartial administration of justice every time. They may even win you a seat in Congress.
