GOP foe blasts U.S. Rep. Ron Klein’s ‘telephone town hall’ on health care

Republican challenger Allen West accuses Klein of using the format to duck a face-to-face meeting with unhappy constituents.
Klein took similar heat last summer when he hosted a teleconference on health care while many of his House colleagues were getting screamed at and YouTubed by angry voters at traditional town hall meetings. But Klein said the estimated 6,460 participants in his August phone event were far more than he would have reached in a flesh-and-blood meeting.

It is about meeting with as many people as possible.
Cgm Klein should be commended for his innovative approach.

Klein is a disgrace. Silent as a lamb while Obama abuses Prmie Minister Netanyahu and blasts Israel for building in its capital. Klein voted for every health care proposal put forward by the hard left Pelosi House. Obama/Klein has run up 2 trillion in debt in just 14 months and Klein voted for a stimulus that raised unemployment to 9.7% instead of decreasing it to 8% as promised. When you think of gutting 500 billion out of Medicare and hiring 18,000 additional IRS agents to enforce health care, think of Ron Klein.

Fred, are you serious? He obviously doesn’t want to do a traditional town hall because he’s scared of the reaction he might get. I’m a Democrat and I think this is a joke and Allen West is right. All Ron Klein does is raise money, that’s it. I hope that West has the resources this go round to take him out. He’s been there for 4 years now and done nothing except raise a lot of money. I want a representative that works for the people he represents, not the ones that fund his campaign.

Allen West should get on the call and confront Klein, since he’s so scared to meet people face to face.

Maybe, just maybe, if the insolent children who call themselves adults would let an actual discussion take place at a “Town Hall” meeting this article wouldn’t be printed. Rambunctious misbehaved children, calling themselves adults, who yell, scream and disrupt any attempt at communications are the reason “telephone town halls” exist. I liked it better in the days of W., where the political operatives would vet the crowd to make sure no one with a differing opinion ever enter a Republican event. Those were the days of peaceful “discussions”.

Klein is a COWARD and a useless representative. I contacted his office 3 times in past year, he is my congressman, and each time the staff swore he is not my representative even after I forwarded proof. He does not even know for whom he works. Well no more ronnie. Allen West had better learn who is the boss of the position he seeks.

@ E.J.
Tell your war mongering Fascist Bibi to return the $6 BILLION dollars the United States gives Israel every year then he can call his own shots. Till then he’s a back benching American Blood sucking Israeli politician who has no qualms about insulting the Vice President of the United States with his Right Wing Fascist occupation of Palestine.

…will discuss the recently passed health care overhaul bill with randomly selected seniors.
Since when has any political event followed true to using randomly selected people? Didn’t we get enough of that lie during the Presidential primaries? His handlers probably already have hand-picked people positioned in the audience to ask his softball questions.

West is a Hero…Klein is a Coward

@ Big Daddy
Hell Yeah, if it’s good enough for George Bush it’s good enough for any politician, that’s what I say.

Klein is a disgrace, but West is no prize either. I’m not even sure he’s the lesser of evils. At least we know what Klein is. West is a fraud.

First let it be known, I am a supporter of Col. Allen West. For those of you who have not met him, you should. He is the right one to represent us. I suggest you take any opportunity to met him or go to his wesite

Fred, how long does Klein plan to remain on the phone in order to answer the questions of 6,000+ concerned citizens that might question why he voted to raise taxes on Floridians by $1 Billion?
April 1st, 2010 at 4:43 pm
There is no surprise here. Ron Klein will never address his electorate unless he can control who his audience is. His announcement states that his “telephone town hall” will include “randomly selected seniors”…gimme a break! I wonder how many Republicans are in his “random selection”?
April 1st, 2010 at 6:36 pm
It’s annoying that he said he’s trying to reach more people but he’s only talking to seniors. What about the middle class in his district? Since I don’t count, he can count 1 vote less come November.

Thaty’s my boy Ronnie. You keep doin what you are told by your daddy the Messiah
April 1st, 2010 at 8:59 pm
This is just more proof that Klein doesn’t want to confront his constituents. RUcerious, you are a hypocrite for complaining about how Republicans don’t want to meet with their constituents and only want to face friendly audiences, but approve of Rep. Klein’s avoidance of his constituents. Allen West has actually held in person town halls! By only inviting “randomly selected seniors”, you can not use the excuse that he is able to reach more constituents through a telephone town hall.

Gee, this is the same tactic that republican congressman tom rooney used here. So why aren’t you loudmouth teabaggers condemning him also. Unfortunately, in rooney’s phone forums, democrats questions were never aired or answered. Yep….the right wing media is about as blatently biased as the tea baggers are ignorant. Yep,as Cheney said, BIG TIME!
