Dave Aronberg gives up the youth torch

by Dara Kam | April 30th, 2010

Sen. Dave Aronberg said a quick farewell to his colleagues shortly before the chamber finished up business for the year (hopefully).

Aronberg, who is running statewide for attorney general, was the youngest member of the Senate when he was elected eight years ago at age 31.

“Now I’m still youngest in the state Senate at 39 years old,” Aronberg, D-Greenacres said, adding that he is happy to pass that distinction on to the incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos.

Oops.

Actually, fellow Democrat Jeremy Ring will be the youngest senator. He won’t turn 40 until August.

“Oh no, Sen. Ring. Well you don’t look like the youngest,” Aronberg said when his mistake was pointed out.

Haridopolos turned 40 on March 15. Guess what? Another Democratic colleague of Aronberg’s Chris Smith, shares that birthday.

“It’s not goodbye because I do intend to be back here next year in another capacity,” Aronberg said.

  1. Frank Says:

If the Democrats were smart…they would hand over the torch to Tara Laxer. She is young, beautiful, smart and damn she can talk about the issues like no one I have ever seen.

    Laxer, Laxer!

  2. Lanie Says:

She won’t run. Wexler, Klein, Aaronson, Deutch all are supported the dumb blond that is married to Ron Sachs. There is no one that she will run. I heard her too. She is too smart to go with the D’s. Maybe she will run with Charlie as an I.

I am staying home..they are all out of their mind.

  3. in the know Says:

Lanie: Get your facts straight. Maria is NOT married to Ron Sachs. She is married to Boca attorney Peter Sachs and is NOT a dumb blonde. Check your spelling too. She is one smart cookie and obviously smarter than you.

  4. ? Says:

The youngest senator will still be the shortest. If you put Ring, Haridopols, & Aronberg on top of each other, you would have a regular sized man. They’re all pint sized.

  5. Huh Says:

Maria is okay, not a fire starter, but a fine representative.

  6. True Blue Says:

Dave will be a great Attorney General and may be a great Governor in the future after 8 years of Alex Sink.

  7. Alaine Says:

I worked with Sachs. She is dumb. I thought she was a Republican. Intheknow is a little mad. I bet you it is someone who works for the Aaroson, Wexler Slosberg team.

Maria I have to say is smart in only one way. She does what she is told. She will be a Democrat when they want her to be and a Republican when they want her to be. She is Charlie with BIG hair.

She is dumb though..who are you kidding.
    Nothing like Deutch.

  8. OutragedMom Says:

    To #4.
A ridiculous comment…. what does height have to do with anything? Dave Aronberg is brilliant, conscientious and empathetic. That makes him a “big” man to me.

  9. JanFL Says:

Let’s agree on this: She is married to attorney Peter Sachs and she makes sure to pass laws that help her husband’s lawfirm make more money (S1196). Could we agree on greedy blond?

  10. in the know Says:

Jan: NO we can not agree on your post. She has done nothing to advance her husband’s law firm to make more money and is NOT a greedy blonde. Your spelling and thoughts are atrocious.

  11. YouthMovement Says:

There are plenty of young democrats the Palm Beach County ready to step up an receive the torch. The youth movement has begun.

  12. George Says:

How much does the torch cost? You know that is what it comes down too. Yes she is dumb and yes she lobbies for her husband & the Republicans don’t kid yourself.

Aronberg is short but he is tall in his own mind.
