Al Lawson qualifies for Congressional bid against incumbent Allen Boyd
by Dara Kam | April 28th, 2010
Senate Democratic Leader Al Lawson qualified today to run in a Democratic primary against incumbent U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd.
Lawson, a Tallahassee insurance agent, is term-limited out of office next year after serving 28 years in the legislature.
He’s an underdog in the race against 13-year Congressional veteran Boyd, one of the conservative “Blue Dog” Democrats.
Lawson made it onto the ballot by collecting the requisite 5,000 signatures to avoid having to pay the state fee.

Don’t like Boyd or Lawson, but Lawson should just go home, because he can’t beat Boyd. If he can, a strong Republican will run against him either this term or next and defeat him handily. LawsoIwish he would juwy qn is just looking for anioher job, bc of term limits. He’s been a terrible senator, often siding w the Republicans and dividing the Democratic caucus. He’s a bully, and will get his ass handed to him if he can win this primary. Boyd has seniority in the house and has been good for his district. If the voters up there are stupid enough to elect Lawson they deserve him.
