Tax-credit bills sail through House, Senate; no job estimates attached
by Michael C. Bender | March 26th, 2010Film companies, space businesses and seaports were identified as the best chance to reverse a spiraling unemployment rate in Florida after lawmakers targeted the industries with millions in tax incentives on Thursday.
With new unemployment figures due to be released Friday, lawmakers cleared a pair of competing proposals Thursday through key legislative hurdles. But it was unclear how many out-of-work Floridians would be rehired because of the new breaks, which would start July 1 and could be worth as much as $88 million in the coming year.
“We don’t know how many jobs it will create,” said Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville.

NO JOBS WILL BE CREATED! Film companies will come and leave just as quick as possible only filling hotels emptied by cruise ships. Space businesses are funded by federal tax dollars so tax credits by the state double taxes residents. Seaports bring in foreign products from offshored manufacturing and transports tourists away from Florida to safely spend money in nations competing with our state tourist locations.
