Rubio: Crist’s Everglades deal a ‘massive tax-payer funded bailout’
by Michael C. Bender | March 8th, 2010
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio said a New York Times story has raised “troubling new questions” about the U.S. Sugar purchase negotiated by his primary rival, Gov. Charlie Crist. From Rubio’s press release today:
“This deal is nothing more than a massive taxpayer-funded bailout for a top Charlie Crist campaign donor and a profitable bonanza for Crist’s inner circle.
“Once again, Charlie Crist has put his political ambition ahead of the people of Florida, and once again the results are disastrous for taxpayers. In fact, this bailout plan is the second most expensive photo op Charlie Crist has ever staged.
“Charlie Crist’s bailout plan will require higher taxes and increased debt, and it does nothing for the Everglades. In fact, it actually halts real restoration projects started by Jeb Bush, which were already underway.
“Charlie Crist simply can’t be trusted to go to Washington to fight massive government spending because, more often than not, he’s the one proposing it.”

If Crist wins the nomination the GOP is almost assured of a victory due to his centrist appeal. If the teabaggers get their way and Rubio wins the nomination, the GOP will get crushed in the general election with his super-partisan brand of politics. Keep up the good work teabaggers!

lol donkey – I don’t know what CharLIE pays the likes of you for your BS but he’s throwing his money away. Sure Crist and Meeks have the same sugar daddy’s the voters with brains can see that. Why do you think the FHP endorsed Marco Rubio over one of their former Captains? Cause they know their present boss and their former capatin is connected at the hips, that’s why.

WHat should happen is we should eliminate the price supports for sugar as they are a huge expense to the tune of 1.5 billion a year to taxpayers through higher costs. Also sugar has no nutritional value whatsoever. We should allow global competition. Then when they go out of business take the land by eminement domain. We have spent over 30 billiion taxpayer dollars supporting sugar prices since the 60′s. Also when tested the land is so polluted it would violate the florida constutution and we would make enough in fines to US sugar that would compare to the tobacco settlements.

I’ve been playing Club Penguin for a while and it’s wicked fun. Can’t wait for the orange puffles to come out.
