“Let Irv serve” — again? Slosberg expected to open state House campaign Friday

TALLAHASSEE — Former Democratic state Rep. Irving Slosberg of Boca Raton was at the Capitol today to promote Safe Teen Driver Week with Florida Transportation Secretary Stephanie Kopelousos.

Look for him to file Friday as a candidate for his old Palm Beach-Broward state House seat.

Slosberg, was elected to the House in 2000 as a traffic safety crusader after his 14-year-old daughter was killed in a 1996 car wreck. He championed a variety of seat belt laws and other traffic safety measures before leaving in 2006 to pursue a state Senate bid. Slosberg lost a costly and bitter Dem primary to eventual Sen. Ted Deutch, who was boosted by the support of former U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler.

This time around, former Wexler chief of staff and political consultant Eric Johnson is expected to help Slosberg’s bid for the District 90 House seat now held by Rep. Kelly Skidmore, D-Boca Raton. Skidmore is leaving to run for state Senate. Educator Sheldon “Klassy” Klasfeld, a Democrat, is the only other candidate in the race.

  1. Laugher Says:

Oh great. Just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in. Doesn’t Irv have a starbucks to go to or a mail order bride to get?

  2. Who cares Says:

Eric Johnson is just a crooked as his old boss. I cant wait to see the both of them in jail together.

  3. IRV Says:

    Wexler, Deutch, Sachs and Slosberg…

    What a team!

WE ARE GOING TO BE SO GOOD!

  4. C'mon Says:

Wexler retired, so he will not be on your team, and I’d imagine he doesn’t like you. Also, you ran the meanest and ugliest campaign against Ted that I’ve ever seen. So he probably doesn’t like you either. I don’t know too many people who do. You think bc you have Eric Johnson you will win (he’s presently working for at least 3 campaign I know about, and one is definitely going to lose, so good luck with him)? He’s just there to take your money. I hope you get beat again, you don’t deserve to serve, weirdo.

  5. LOL! Says:

Yes we should let Irv serve so he can help pass another Republican gerrymandering redistricting plan like he did in 2000 to save his gerrymandered District 90. Let Irv serve…..himself.

  6. Observer Says:

OMG, Sheldon Klasfeld!! I went to one of the Charter School “For the Arts” that he opened in a win-dixie shopping plaza in an old H&R Block building. The room was separated by foam dividers. There were like 60 kids in the whole school. They would sit around and smoke cigs outside. No ONE did ANY work. A reporter came by one day and was taking pictures of the kids sitting around outside smoking so sheldon punched him and took his camera film out and tossed it. Sheldon “Klassy” Klasfeld is a joke.

  7. Lisa cole Says:

These people are backing each other. I saw Sach, Deutch and Slosberg campaign in Boca together. Wexler and gang you are making this just too easy. The chief of staff of Wexler or Deutch same person is a whore just like the rest of them.

Let them all serve…..time. Aaronson where are you?

  8. Morris Says:

I guess Irv will just buy the food again but it looks like Wexler and Deutch are the ones serving something and it is not food.

With Aaronson they are making the us pay for it. I am so disappointed with Deutch we all thought he was good. We were wrong douchbag!
