GOP candidate West ‘rectifying’ $8,373 in court judgments
by George Bennett | March 18th, 2010West said he paid off American Express more than a year ago after it won the 2006 judgment. West said he is “more than half way” done paying off Midland Funding LLC, which won the 2009 judgment.
“I’m like any other American out there who’s doing the best for his family. You get behind on some things but you’re responsible for rectifying the situation, which is what I’ve done,” West said this morning.
West is challenging U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton, in a race the national GOP touts as one of its top takeover priorities this year.
In a financial disclosure statement West filed last year with the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, the retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel listed three sources of income: a $47,520 military pension, a $90,000 salary from defense contractor Calibre Inc. and his wife’s $81,000 job as a financial adviser with Raymond James.
West’s homeowner association in Plantation also filed a $612 lien against him last year for unpaid maintenance assessments. West said he’s “up to date” with his HOA, although no release of the lien shows up in Broward County records

Typical “conservative”. Sounds just like Rubio- complaining about out of control govt spending when you can’t even manage your own household finances.

Are Americans really looking for the “perfect” person? Hope not. Won’t find one. Colonel West hits high marks on all levels while still an imperfect American. Remember where this soldier was two years ago … Afghanistan. Now, who has a problem with him owing money and paying it back?
As for the crack about Marco Rubio, see above.

I am pretty sure West was kicked out of the marines for holding a gun to a prisoner’s head and then shooting it in the air. He is CRAZY!!

If you are going to judge the man, at least get your facts straight. The man he was interrogating was an enemy combatant who was also a police officer, and he had information about a plot to assassinate Colonel West. His fear was not for his own life, but for the lives of the men charged with protecting him getting caught in the crossfire. The man was withholding information about the impending attack, and Colonel West’s actions made him divulge everything he knew, and the other conspirators were apprehended. Who knows how many of his men got to come home to their families because of his actions.
We need to send this warrior to Congress to fight for us, and restore honor to the House — exactly what Ron Klein has not done for 4 years. Who ever heard of a Congressman who was to afraid to face his constituents?
Flip the House.

Isn’t this just further proof that Col. West is a man who is in touch with his constituents who are facing tough economic times, and that he is a man of his principals? Col. West preaches personal accountability, and has worked to pay off his debts without any kind of government welfare or bankruptcy protection.
Edward, before you go and criticize an American war hero for putting his career on the line for the safety of his soldiers, get your facts straight! Col. West received an honorable discharge from the ARMY with his pension intact.
Don’t the voters of CD 22 deserve to have an honest, principled, patriot as their U.S. Representative? Last time I checked Rep. Klein wasn’t wiling to put his career on the line to do the right thing.

“Flip the House”? (per Ed Fulop). Oh, yeah. If you like the condition of the country right now, by all means, flip the House back to the crew that got us here.
