Gun ownership still won’t be an issue for adoption prospects under bill on its way to governor
by Dara Kam | March 18th, 2010Florida lawmakers overwhelmingly approved a measure now on its way to Gov. Charlie Crist that would prohibit adoption agencies from discriminating against gun owners.
The Senate voted 38-2 on the bill (HB 315) this morning, with Democratic Sens. Ted Deutch of Boca Raton and Frederica Wilson of Miami the only hold-outs. The House earlier unanimously passed the measure.

My husband and I adopted a newborn nearly 4 years ago. We owned a gun (and still do) and it was not an issue for our agency because we had it properly secured. I’m glad the state is trying to protect children, but gun ownership does not make you an unfit parent!

Again, govt. trying to fix all society’s woes but its ### backwards. Most law abiding citizens who have guns that are properly registered are the ones that take the most care and safety precautions. If you want to fix things, find a away to reduce unwanted preganancies out of wedlock in homes of thugs that have guns bought on the street and not properly registered. They couldn’t have them legally anyhow because many have long rap sheets with felony convictions. Oh, by the way, my wife and I adopted our daughter 9 yrs ago and have guns in the house properly secured!! This issue never came up during our adoption process.

there are parents who have guns and children…should we take away those children.
Just another democrat screwy regulation.
Get government out of your life, by voting out democrats.
They are the ones implementing these rules.
Ridiculous!
