Three running Rooney brothers “unbelievable,” dad says; also Bucher fallout, Wexler’s return, Budd’s plans

by George Bennett | February 15th, 2010

As freshman U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, seeks reelection this year, older brother Pat Rooney Jr. is running for a state House seat and younger brother Brian Rooney is trying to win a Michigan congressional seat.

Read about it this week’s Politics column.

Also: Read about how prosecutors want tougher residency standards in response to Elections Supervisor Susan Bucher’s frequent address changes when she was a state House member. And Robert Wexler returns to South Florida this week.

What are these Rooneys? Some kind of political machine in the making? Does that make them more like Rockefellers or Kennedys? Neither is better, so which is worse?

    Frau Bucher?

  3. westbocaguy Says:

Wexler is “returning” to Florida? There goes the neighborhood. We were better off when he was a resident of Maryland…

  4. William Patrick Says:

The Rooney brothers are very simply people who value public service. You can see that in Tom Rooney’s service in the Army and Brian Rooney’s service in the Marines. I respect them for their service and I wish all of them well in their future service to our country.

  5. Fred Says:

I only know Brian Rooney from high school and afterwards and he is probably one of the most honest men you will ever meet. He walks the walk and is truly looking out for the service of people. He does not use his family’s money as power- in fact, he is quite the oppossite. There should be something said for the fact that he wants to serve the public and does not find a job that serves himself. He moved up North because his wife, who I also went to high school with, loves it there and then they also found the best heart doctors for their son. They adopted a horse and are very involved with their community. I am really surprised to see anyone doubt Brian’s integrity just because of his family also being in politics. You will be very happy if he is in our Congress. I know that.
