State executes fifth inmate in 17 months, despite protests from Jewish groups
by Michael C. Bender | February 17th, 2010Martin Edward Grossman on Tuesday was the fifth execution since Republican Gov. Charlie Crist reinstated the death penalty in July 2008.
But on the final day of his life, nearly 50,000 calls and e-mails flooded Crist’s office pleading for him to halt the execution, a spokesman said. Many of the calls came from New York, where Jewish leaders organized a petition campaign to save Grossman’s life. The Gainesville Sun explores some of the issues raised by petitioners.
Meanwhile, here is the Associated Press account of the execution.

Woo hoo! Let’s speed up the process. We should be able to do way more executions than 1 every 3-4 months. I miss Ol’ Sparky.

We don’t need high speed rail…we need high speed executions.

I met this murder victim one time. This scum (no matter his “faith”) outlived her by 26 years. I don’t think it’s too much to ask wanta be senator Crist to begin immediately with the longest occupant of death row signing one death warrant for each day Monday-Saturday of the week. Just like the Lord rested on the 7th day, no executions of Sunday. Just imagine, every do-gooder lawyer in Florida would be busy filing and flinging last minute appeals. I know everyone says this can’t be done because these murderers have mountains of appeals already to climb. But, the governor is the “man” and what’s to stop him from signing death warrants. Also, look at all the positive news media attention he will get. Everyone is tired of be a victim to these repeat offenders. Plus, the death penalty is a deterient to repeat offenses. Not one of them has ever come back and committed another henious crime!

No one is saying what he did was not horrendous! But one has to ask why was his crime worse than the 99% of other murderers who are not executed. The facts in this case are:
1) Drunk and Drug 19 year old kid
2) Peace Officer finds illegal gun in his car.
3) Drugged out begs Peace Officer to give him a break.
4) Peace Officer trys to arrest him.
5) They get into a fight
6) Kid panics
Sure it is terrible, but there are way worse murders out there.
Was there another reason for the execution!!
4) fight happen

In response I wouldnt jump to any conclusions and feel its imprortant that I share an article I recieved from a friend:
I would like to point-out that the automated reply e-mail that FL Gov. Crist sent Feb 16, writing the gruesome details of how Ms. Parks died and what was done to ditch evidence, is misleading at best, and pure defamation and flat-out lies at worst.
The Governor omits ANY mention of the words Thayne Taylor the person with whom Grossman spent that evening in the woods. Taylor by the least helped Grossman commit the acts that Crist writes about, or perhaps more accurately: Taylor led in action, and Grossman followed.
It sure was an easy move for prosecutors to recommend a low prison term for Taylor in exchange for incriminating Grossman on all acts, regardless what really took place between Taylor, Grossman and Parks. It is however an unheard and precedent less CHUTZPA for Crist to produce the smear he did, knowing/thinking that Grossman does not have much of a family that will stand-up to defend his name.
I am NOT defending the acts of Grossman. However, his misdeeds do NOT give a free pass for Crist to write what he wants about this case.
