‘Our enemy is the liberal media. And the Democrats’

by Michael C. Bender | February 21st, 2010

Despite a trend of anti-establishment activism running through conservative politics, Florida Republicans on Saturday selected a Tallahassee insider to lead the party into a critical election year.

State Sen. John Thrasher, a former lobbyist and state House speaker, defeated two opponents in an extraordinary special election called after former Chairman Jim Greer was forced to resign over accusations of excessive spending of party money and improperly influencing primary races.

The election is expected to have repercussions in the state Senate, where Thrasher is chairman of the Ethics & Elections Committee and one of 40 members hoping to turn around the state’s escalating unemployment and spiraling foreclosure crisis.

Thrasher said he would step down from the elections committee position, an offer Senate President Jeff Atwater, R-North Palm Beach, indicated he would accept. But Atwater insisted Thrasher could simultaneously focus on another year of state budget problems — his duty as a state lawmaker — and rapidly rebuilding a party that, until recently, had been the envy of Republicans nationwide.

You consider approx. 72 million American citizens your enemy? Guess they really are the “party of no” – no to their fellow Americans. We said “no” to that crap a year ago. We need a congress that will fight the real enemies of America – unemployment, a bad economy, lobbying, terrorism, lack of affordable health care. Thanks for the warning though, Mr. Thrasher, this independent voter now knows who to say “no” to when I’m in the voting booth in the next election.

Let us then turn this government back into the channel in which the framers of the Constitution originally placed it.

If you’re a Liberal, you’re pretty much going to be a Democrat……. those 2 DIRT BAG WORDS seem to coincide……Most Liberals whether being truthful with themselves or not, are sick of what is going on in this Country, many won’t admit it being they’re the cause of this spiral drop to Bankruptcy and as well, they’re the FOOLS who voted the Democrats in….Now we can get taxed to death as we’ve already seen since NOBAMA (the illegal alien) made Presidency ! A good start would be to wipe New York, Texas and California off the Map so we can go back to Morals, Values and Fairness !! Thank You for Crying while reading this Post…… You Libtards really STINK !

It seems so many on the right today claim to love America but their words imply that they hate Americans.

You’re darned right I’m sick of it. I sick of the holier than thou, condescending, lying, hypocritical Republi-CONS who nearly bankrupted this country and are attempting to thwart any and all efforts to fix what’s wrong just so they can try to regain the reigns of power. It would seem that the Republi-CONS believe it to be their “devine destiny” to rule the United States. Somehow I think they’ve forgotten that half of the framers of the Constitution were Federalists, the very folks the CON-servatives are railing against.

To Joe M, you`re comment`s goes to show how ignorant and out of touch you are with reality, the one that put us in this situation was J.B. but you seem to forget this, shut up and go back to you`re OXICONTIN.

don’t worry about the democrats they have proven themselves to be hapless and inefective, they are afraid to stand strongly behind their policies, they are more concerned to glad hand and console a vocal minority who want to regress back to the 1700′s when blacks were slaves and woman and poor folk didn’t vote,. I am looking at canada again as an escape from this lunacy.

  9. nativewooder Says:

I cannot believe any real American can utter such a ridiculous statement. Such utterances can only be attributed to terrorists, Nazis, and other extremists!!! This is typical of what has happened to American politics in the last twenty years. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Kiss your country goodbye, Americans, the silent majority is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. ozmo Says:

The rules to post on this blog limits some speech. I can’t use the H word or I will get vetoed. However, the speech of the head of the Republican Party that calls the majority of voting Americans as the enemy of conservative ideology and the Republican Party speaks for itself.

  11. Will B Says:

I am a lifelong political and religious independent and it seems to me that the political extemists have locked their defective little brains into a negative feedback loop that gorges on shameless, self righteous, supercillious hubris. They have appointed themselves as God’s gift to America, and show no shame in pontificating lies, stupidity, bigotry and revisionist history.

  12. WATCHER Says:

Joe M, Jim Jones is serving coolaide at the next republican party, make sure u get in line, so the rest of us Americans can solve our problems without killing each other. Morals u are a hypocrite JOE M

  13. Harry Houdini Says:

SUCH ENEMIES! THATS WHY AS A LOBBYIST HE SUPPORTED MANY OF THEM FOR THE ALMIGHTY BUCK! ETHICS HERO?

    SUCH BULL….T!

  14. da_truth Says:

Mr. Thrasher’s comments are “Exhibit A” of why government and politics in this country are in such a sorry state. Gee, don’t you think the recession, foreclosures, etc. are the real enemy and should be the Republican Party’s #1 priority? Democrats and “liberal media” as the enemy…wow, that’s some real bi-partisan spirit that will get lots accomplished.

  15. Independents Turned Off Says:

Thrasher is the typical hard line puby whose comments are what make the Puby party percieved to be dick-cheney evil by many. Picking a fight with the media isn’t going to solve the problems. This is just another politician who’s going to say no to any idea that does not come from their corrupt way of thinking.

Boy do we need term limits these days!

  16. Crist running as an independent – and other scribbles from the U.S. Senate campaign trail | Post on Politics Says:

[...] If Florida Republican Party Chairman John Thrasher considers the media the enemy, Rubio just likes to mess with [...]
