Excerpts: McCollum slams Sink in speech to Palm Beach County GOP; Sink camp fires back
by George Bennett | February 13th, 2010Click here to read about the speech.
And read expanded excerpts of McCollum’s remarks about Sink and the Sink campaign’s response after the jump….
Here’s an excerpt from Attorney General Bill McCollum’s speech that deals with his Democratic rival, Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink:
“I believe in the ideals Republicans are supposed to practice and not just preach — fiscal discipline, low taxes, equal justice, accountable government and individual initiative.
“And make no mistake, these are not the values shared by my opponent, Alex Sink.
“Alex Sink is in lockstep with liberals in Washington, trial lawyers, organized labor and President Obama’s big government agenda. She says we should hold Tallahassee accountable for creating jobs. But we Republicans know that jobs are created by the entrepreneurial spirit of small businessmen and women – not government.
“Alex Sink believes what we need in our next Governor is a Paper Clip Czar, but we Republicans know what we need is a leader.”
And here’s a response from Sink campaign spokeswoman Conchita Cruz:
“It’s clear career politician Bill McCollum is dodging his record of standing up for financial institutions over Florida taxpayers and of protecting his fellow Republican Party leaders instead of holding them accountable for potentially wide-spread corruption.
“Unlike career politician Bill McCollum, Alex Sink has decades of business experience and is uniquely qualified to be an economic ambassador for the state and to ensure that business owners and entrepreneurs have the economic climate and conditions they need to create good jobs right here in Florida.”

Oh, that’s a marvel..Alex McBride Sink former president of Florida division of Bank of America calling out McCollum for favoring banks!
ALEX MCBRIDE WAS THE PRESIDENT OF A BANK.
If she gets elected, expect Alex to join other democrats in implementing the Cap and Trade TAXING scheme. She will handcuff FL into misery.
She IS in lockstep with the liberals. What’s happening with the Obama administration is what will be happening in Florida if Alex Sink is elected.
Vote OUT democrats. Rebalance government.
Alex McBride Sink=restrictions of Floridians

KC-
Your argument is purely speculative and is not bsed on any statements given by Ms. Sink. On the contrary, McCollum is very responsible for the financial mess this country is in. When in Congress he co-sponsored the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act which limited what banks could and could not do. After leaving congress in 2000 and during the real estate boom, he used his influence with the Republicans as a lobbyist for the banking industry.

McCollum is so deep in the Republican party corruption, he should be listening instead of running his mouth. After all he was annointed as the only Republican offering for governer by the then powerful Jim Greer. At the same time Jim Greer refused (absolutely denied) Charles Bronson any support for governor. This action by Greer mirrored his efforts to annoint Charlie Crist as the only Republican candidate for US Senate. If not for the undying efforts of the likes of Marco Rubio and Paula Dockery, thanks to the Republican corruption of McCollum, Crist and Greer, the people of Florida would have had no choice but to accept the annointed crooks forced on us by this element of corruption. Paula and Rubio are not in this Florida organised corruption, please join us in helping them help us save our great state.

‘in lockstep with liberals in Washington’
Hahaha! That’s a joke, right? Democrats can’t agree amongst themselves, get a backbone and get anything done despite being the majority party – exactly which Democrats in Washington will she be in lockstep with? Too funny.

So here’s what I don’t get….
McCollum criticizes Sink for “spending”….and in the same breath criticizes her for saving Florida’s taxpayers more than $14 million by consolidating office supplies
This criticism makes it clear that McCollum is nothing more than a politician…with no clue about what a real business owner goes through. I hate to say this, but the only fiscal conservative in this race is the Democratic candidate
