Governor weaker but not worried

by Michael C. Bender | February 28th, 2010

Republican Charlie Crist barreled into the governor’s office four years ago on the crest of a populist wave.

Today, he’s at risk of getting sucked into the undertow.

Crist opens his final spring legislative session on Tuesday weaker than he’s ever been.

His approval rating is 50 percent — about 20 points lower than it was at the start of 2009. He’s a surprising underdog in U.S. Senate primary polls. As with all lame-duck governors, his veto pen carries less weight than it did at the start of his term, when lawmakers fear multiple years in the governor’s doghouse.

So why is Crist smiling?

Story here.

    More negative reporting.

PB Post – top 3 stories in sunday’s paper are negative on republicans.

    NO BALANCED REPORTING.

    What’s the other party?
    Who’s the guy running?

    Very good point Dru.

Remember when NONE OF THE ABOVE was a common multiple choice question selection? It would seem the modern political ballot should contain it as well.

This might be a good way for political parties to select worthy candidates instead of the constant scum and professional politicians who use masses of corporation dollars to finance their campaigns.

    Here is my proposal.

    SAMPLE BALLOT

For United States Senator from Florida (Vote for one)

    { } Charlie Crist
    { } Marco Rubio
{ } None of the above

If 50% of the voters select NONE OF THE ABOVE, the election is considered null and the process is started over again.

Incentives: Political parties may be more selective when picking candidates to finance.

Just a humble thought from my humble abode.

A very interesting title for this story. I never thought Crist could get any weaker as a human being than he has always been. You know like still living at home with mom and dad and never buying a house and all. It believe the real subject of this story is Crist is getting weaker with his connections and cronies. Some of the crooked friends are getting scared to money him up now. I guess they don’t want to be any closer to him than they already are when the feds are checking his connections.
