GOP candidate West’s day in D.C.: Baldwin brother drop-by; tough talk on Islam

by George Bennett | February 19th, 2010

WASHINGTON — Actor Stephen Baldwin, a.k.a. the conservative Baldwin brother, just dropped by a fund-raiser/meet-and-greet for South Florida Republican congressional hopeful Allen West at the Conservative Political Action Conference here.

West’s improved money-raising has drawn the notice of the national GOP as he tries to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. Ron Klein. West should raise his profile even more on Saturday afternoon, when he has a featured speaking slot shortly before conservative multi-media star Glenn Beck speaks.

This morning, West got several standing ovations when he was part of a panel discussion called “Jihad: The Political Third Rail,” in which he said America needs to confront the ideology behind Islamic terrorism.

“There’s no such thing as a war on terror….A nation goes to war against an ideology, and that’s what we’ve been talking about today.

“We’ve been talking about the fact that here is something that is a totalitarian, theocratic, political ideology and it is called Islam. This is not about Muslims. It is just the same as in Nazi Germany. Not every German was a Nazi. It’s just the same as when I was in Iraq in 2003. Not every Iraqi was a member of the Baath Party,” said West, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel.

West is right on! Hopefully he will keep the same tone and message when he gets elected, Trouble is, after these pols are elected they settle in and forget what message ” got them there”.

Islamic Fascists no different than Nazi Fascists.

  2. who introduced "wahabi" Says:

It is interesting western countries are openly talking about ideology. To corrupt islam from its original form who introduced the wahabi concept? who supported it in 1915′s? What goes around comes around. At that time it was to contaminate Islam… countries openly supported WAHABISM and now it started biting them they are frustrated.
Well, ISlam is the religion of Peace , Wahabism is the west supported ideology.
    Please read history books….
I am a muslim. I follow islam to its fabric and I honestly believe constitution of US resembles the teaching of ISLAM. Freedom to worship. Worship GOD…A GOD free of any imagination….It is the same god of Abraham, Moses, Jesus son of Marium and Mohammed.(May peace be upon all of them).
It is about time we all smell coffee and find the real problem. ISLAM is not a problem there are 1.5 Billion people who follow this religion. They have been following for more than thousand years. It is the evil of humans which is the problem. This evil exists all across the world in all shapes and forms and all religions.

I was gonna say” This evil exists all across the world in all shapes and forms and in followers of all religions”

  4. larry Says:

Mohammed was an evil murderer before Wahhabism – and he is what Muslims strive to emulate. It is his ideology the underpins all Islamic ideologies. Unfortunately, peaceful Muslims fear violent, totalitarian Muslims and until that changes things will get worse.

  5. irony Says:

A man killed a doctor in Kansas recently for religious beliefs, does that make Christianity a political ideology that is totalitarian and theocratic? Orthodox Jewish residents of Jerusalem have disproportionate authority over the daily activities permitted in the city including stoning cars they see driving. Does that make Judaism a totalitarian, theocratic, political ideology?

Allen West’s remark was utterly ignorant and demonstrates why neither he nor anyone in CPAC can imagine a solution to the problem, regardless of his experience. He should have said “there are totalitarian, theocratic ideologues that attempt to justify their aggressive intentions by claiming its all for their faith. In the end they not only bring harm to us but other followers of that faith. As such, they must be confronted full force.” It would have been a simple, competent statement, but no he had to say an entire faith is one oversimplified ideology, despite the fact that all Abrahamic faiths have such characteristics about them.

And yes, it was the foreign policy machinations of western powers that bred these imperialist terrorists who now claim to be fighting for a re-established Caliphate covering the middle east and north africa. Unfortunately, West and his lackeys at CPAC are too ignorant to admit that the U.S. has ever made any mistakes that it could learn from and should learn from.

Hey “who introduced wahabi” read the last paragraph of the article.
