Crist vows to devote ‘every ounce of energy’ to finding Acreage cancer cause

by Michael C. Bender | February 4th, 2010

Florida health officials will appeal to the federal government for help investigating the cancer cluster in The Acreage, Gov. Charlie Crist said Thursday, just one day after the state had ruled out searching for an environmental cause.

“This is of grave concern to me,” Crist said in an interview. “The people deserve every ounce of energy that can be put into this situation to reveal how this happened, what the cause might be and what can be done to help these residents.”

Crist’s remarks were a turnaround from a statement Wednesday by Palm Beach County’s health department director, Dr. Alina Alonso, who had said the state didn’t intend to search for an environmental cause of higher-than-normal rates of brain tumors and cancer in The Acreage.

Good luck finding something that isn’t there. Sounds like a good job for a politican.

  2. whasup Says:

I’m Charlie Crist. I really care! I really do. Especially about getting elected to the Senate.

  3. Terry Benedict Says:

In other news, 2 home fires occurred in the same day in Tallahassee, Florida. Charlie Crist is said to be considering the creation of a Home Fire Safety Commission and Study Group to examine the issue.

Also, but not related, three puppies were found by the Humane Society of Duval County. Charlie Crist commented that he’ll personally invest all the resources of DCF into investigating how the puppies were born, who might have abandoned them, and whether a foster home is available.

Sometimes, bad things happen. Terrible things happen. It’s called life.

  4. Fairy godfather Says:

Charlie has the answer to everthing. He might not know certain people who have done bad things, or why some guy gets paid way too much money, or anything about all the lavish spending under the direction of his formerly very close friends Jim Greer and Delmar Johnson.
But he will establish a panel to investigate this and they will report back to him by the middle of next year!
I’ll bet Charlie just can’t believe after Jim Greer pubicly cut up his Amex card, he just started putting all of his charges on Delmar’s card and give Delmar three fat raises so they could continue to live the life they wanted to become accustom too! What’s wrong with this?

  5. Disgust Says:

What’s wrong with trying to get to the bottom of an admitted Cancer Cluster that has given tumors to children and adults. Unless there is something to hide what is the big deal. I mean its one community that needs to be tested not an entire city or state! I don’t live there but let me tell you I wouldn’t if you gave me a house especially since it looks like someone just got paid off not to perform a complete test.

  6. You people are just plain ROTTEN! Says:

I love reading the comments from the people with such wisdom as some times bad things happen blah blah blah…It reminds me of what my friends asked me before I moved to the acreage, which was, do you really want to live with a bunch of dumb rednecks…I thought they were being very harsh but apparently they were quite right…I have never met a group of more callous, self absorbed, uneducated and downright nasty people in my life…Most couldn’t give a rats behind about their neighbors childrens suffering or even their own kids from what I’ve seen…What they do care about though, more than anything in the whole wide world is their precious property value…Most would sell their own mother for a buck! Where else can you find such rotten people that attack parents whose children have stricken with cancer…It takes a real special kind of “BLEEP” to do that but that’s what they do! I can only hope that they will someday suffer as a result of their nastiness…They’ve certainly earned it!

  7. Nuphedrine Says:
